  8. As point five says. I've never seen the blue pop like that before.
  9. But most of all I notice the breathing texture of the stone, and its sunlit warmth...
  10. At Konarak. I look at the sandstone statues. I notice the rounded solidity of the carved forms that burgeon from the stone as though it were the ground of being.
  11. I cannot know that my future will be intimately intertwined with that of the villagers and Paddyfield School.
  12. As I sketch, I think back scant days to my first visit to Nirmal's village, and the intense impact that has had on me.
  13. Having offloaded their catch, the fishermen head back out through the rolling breakers into the Bay of Bengal. They will fish, and eat, and sleep upon the ocean.
  14. I sketch the pilgrims. Each sketch takes scant minutes, for all is in motion.
  15. I sketch the tribal fishermen hauling their boats ashore through the heavy surf.
  16. Reprise It is January 1982. I am thirty years of age, and I stand on Puri beach. I have no camera, so must make do with a sketch pad.
