  1.

I just sent off my first batch of books and I tried to make my best guess on the grades before I sent them. When they come back I'll see how close I got, if I'm off I'll know better what CGC is looking for and try to adjust my grading to comply. Your call for standards is right on, but I think CGC is it! They are the accepted standard and their value only increases as more collectors comply to those standards. Calling for wider grading and alleging conspiracy does more harm to the industry more than any 9.4 ever could.

    ;)

And could I get that imaginary link to CGC's grading standards?

Why do you care? Isn't the lack of a public posting of CGC's standards one of the very bases of your whole "CGC Is Evil"-spiel?

    Basis?

If CGC ever revealed their standards, they would get more respect, from me and a whole lotta collectors.

  3. Please do not beat me up on this but how do I even know these are the books I sent?

I missed this line from his opening paragraph the first time... this was a gem. :applause:

But in fairness, this fellow was a model of restraint compared to the current loon in General.

I'll tell you though, I had a discussion about the same issue with some people at a local store and they were insistent that this is ow CGC stayed in business--making copies of the covers people sent, and selling the real ones elsewhere. It was about as stupid as you could find.

Which one? The one in Newington or Bristol?

Newington. Bristol uses PGX because it's cheaper and has a quicker turn around. I've explained to them a few times that PGX actually lowers the prices garnered but I guess they have a few loyal eBay customers so it hasn't really been an issue for them. I'm bummed though as Bristol hasn't had any new collections in almost 2 years now--no new back issues = little room for me to purchase :(

(I know I'm a bit late but ) please tell me you're talking about Omni and not Art at the Eye Opener.

  4. There are certain questions that I'm curious to learn the answers to: Who's doing the grading? Do they have experience with vintage movie paper and detecting resto?

I wondered the same thing when I saw all the photos they slabbed for JP the Mint. Don't remember ever getting an answer.

  5. Thank you Krypto...Purchasing this Avengers #57 from you for $150. turned out to be an excellent deal for me. Turns out the book now graded as a CGC 9.2 is worth about $900.00 based on GPA sales :applause:.

When you got so worked up regarding the Avengers #57 scan I posted by accident, I contacted the gentleman I sold the book to and asked him " Had the gentleman on the boards actually purchased the Avengers #57 based on the wrong scan I posted, would you have sold it back to me and bailed me out" ? Turns out he picked up a 9.2 slabbed copy a week after buying my ( your old copy ) copy...so I bought your old copy back from him and sent it in for grading . Whew...sure was a lot of conversation about a simply mistake, however looks like it all worked out in the end...well for me anyway. Thanks again , thanks to you this is the best deal I have bought this year ! :foryou:

OK, so you supposedly take the "high road" apologize, and announce you are leaving for a while, but you are really watching the board instead (which can't exactly be healthy).

You then return, to gloat about something, that caused many people to be less than happy with you in the first place.

Would you kindly block me as a buyer on Ebay? Since there is no way to block sellers, I don't want to accidentally purchase something from you and have it in a thread later on. :foryou:

Is there some kind of "List" we can get on? hm
