  1. FYI. Here's the back corner that's been trimmed. Not the side, but the lower left corner.
  2. This is the point I was trying to make or at least point out the flaw in the grading system. The book I'm talking about is a 1.5. But imagine if it were a PLOD 6.0. The difference in value between blue and purple would be roughly $30k. If you have no intention of selling, then it's a moot point. But if you are planning to sell, it's a grey area that gets more grey depending on the value of the book. The irony of the whole thing is that someone trimmed this cover in the first place, to increase it's perceived value (pre CGC). The color touch on countless purple labels, the amateur trimming, was often done BY dealers, who now clutch their pearls at the thought of undoing what a generation of dealers knowingly participated in. P.S. I was only home for one day, so I didn't have time to scan the book. But I'm home on Saturday and will grab it and post, so this morality play can enter it's closing act.
  3. Of these collections, any idea which ones have the provenance on the CGC label?
  4. Are the staples gone? If they're still there and fairly firm, you could have the tape professionally removed (or buy some Bestine and take care of it yourself, if you're an intrepid soul).
  5. Forever People #1 - 9.6 Rocky Mountain Collection GPA shows five sales this year from $1,111 - $688, but none have WHITE PAGES like this pedigreed copy. Asking $1050 Shipped $950 Shipped Sandman #1 9.8 GPA shows six sales this year from $312 - $145, but again, this is a lovely copy with WHITE PAGES. Asking $275 Shipped $225 Shipped SOLD Payment via PayPal, check, Bitcoin, gold bullion, etc. First get's it.
  6. Thanks! I was so disappointed when this came back a 7.5 Just never got around to a clean/press/resub.
  7. A few of y'all might remember that I bought the bulk of Harlan's silver age collection many years ago (800+ slabbed). As much as I love these books, I'm beginning to sell a few. This is a gorgeous 7.5 OW. I haven't tried re-grading, but from the scan you can see that it'd be tempting to roll the dice. GPA so far this year has been in the range of $24-20k. Asking $26k, shipped free with insurance in the US. Elsewhere, we'll figure it out. Payment via PayPal or bank wire transfer. No returns on graded books.
  8. Selma was a great film. When They See Us was powerful and gut wrenching at times. But yeah, Wrinkle in Time was pretty meh... That being stated, I can't wait until they release a trailer.
  9. Just saw a documentary called AUDIENCE OF ONE. Imagine you're a 40 year old Pentecostal pastor in San Francisco, and at the age of 40 you see your very first movie. Now imagine that immediately following that, you believe that God has spoken to you, telling you to spread his word by making the greatest science fiction movie ever - despite your complete and utter lack of experience in film making. What could go wrong, right? Makes Ed Wood look like a cinematic genius.
  10. Strangely ironic that this announcement came a day after DC announced they were killing the Vertigo imprint. I guess it's changing into DC Black Label.
  11. Anyone have a recommend for a scanner to use with a Mac? I bought a used HP years ago and it worked like a champ, but is now incompatible with the latest MAC OS. Vuescan doesn't work either. Time for a replacement.
  12. CCS removed touch from my 4.5 PLOD X-Men #1 and regraded to 4.5 Blue. That kind of thing happens all the time. Very little difference here.
  13. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't really want to do it, but if it meant the difference between $10k+ for a Blue label and $5k+ for the PLOD, it's hard not to consider. But, I don't see any recent sales on GPA for a restored 1.5, so hard to judge. Just a frustration that a trim is worse than a tear, and on certain keys you could tear off the trim and it'd grade better, which is kinda nuts. Sorry, I'm traveling so don't have the book with me. I'll see if I can find it in the AF15 Club thread from years ago.
  14. I have an AF15, CGC 1.5 PLOD. The only restoration is a corner on the back cover that's been trimmed, like 1/2" long by 1/8" deep. Every time I look at this book I can't help but think that if that were a torn piece instead of a slice, it'd be a Blue label, and worth more. As horrible as it is to say, I'm tempted to micro tear that edge to "unrestore" it. What would you do? (If you were going to sell it).
  15. Three episodes in. Liking it a lot, though every time I see JJ...I want her to eat a sandwich.
  16. My dad bought me comics all the time (because he like to read them too) but this was the first comic I bought with my own allowance in the 3rd grade.
  17. So weird when reality interferes with a fictional universe.
  18. Congrats. I love SiP. If you follow Terry Moore on Twitter he'll occasionally post sketches for a quick sale.
  19. Good, weird, documentary. Ninjas. There were going to be ninjas fighting Superman.
  20. I like Colan's pencils even more. The ink sometimes ruins all that intricate shading.
