  1. The Trapjaw is awesome.

Haven't been able to buy many He-mans in the last year.

    Patrick

Thanks. Yea it's in really good condition. I think it would grade pretty good, but I haven't dived into submitting stuff to AFA yet (I just buy stuff other people have graded). I don't really understand all the tiers, but haven't really sit down to figure it out either.

It has some sticker residue in the top right corner that I think will come off when I get a chance to clean it up. Real straight card, nice corners, and the unpunched peg hole. Was really happy with that one.

  2. I just wanted to add my own experience regarding someone who is already on the list:

    decompositions52

The person made me an offer through ebay Messaging, for an item I had listed on a regular seven day auction.

I accepted, but wanted to try and do things legit to protect both of us. So I canceled the original auction, and setup a Fixed Price listing so he could just go and BIN.

I send him the new link. He then replies to me that he specified the amount he offered was with shipping including. But he never mentioned that or made any statement like that. I tell him unfortunately I can't do the deal with shipping including.

So I'm out, it looks like .60 cents. But it was just a big waste of time.

Not the most egregious incident, but beware if you choose to deal with him. Be VERY clear, almost childish, so there is no miscommunication.

  3. Tates Lauderhill like paradigmcomics mentioned, as well as Past Present Future in WPB. There's actually two stores in lauderhill on the same road as Tate's just don't know the name of it.

There's also a hidden gem that sells paper/hardback books and they have so many long boxes of comics. I have found some sweet back issues there as well as the keys they have in the case. It's north of West Palm Beach about 6-8 miles. I don't know the name of it I just know how to get there.

Good luck and GO BRUINS!!!! (sorry I like Boston)

That's one of the Past, Present, Future Comics satellite locations. I haven't been to it since it moved. Here's the address:

    5458 N University Dr.

    Lauderhill, FL 33351

  4. Also, if you really want to have an adventure there are a lot of other comic stores in Broward (where Tate's is) that you could try. Also some in West Palm Beach (Past, Present & Future Comics) that have back issues. Make it a comic day over on the East coast.

Unfortunately there really isn't any good stores in Dade county (where Miami is).

  5. I can't recall any really good stores in Fort Myers/Naples area. The last one I liked going to was Bigkatt's but that closed in 2014 I believe.

If you don't mind an easy drive that will be about an 2 hours due East, you can visit Tate's over in Lauderhill. It's considered one of the best comic stores in the entire country (they won the Eisner in 2010). They have a lot of back issues, and vintage action figures and the like. They don't really have any graded stuff though.

I would make a night of it, because Tate's is open until 9pm. Make sure you go to the main location at:

    4566 North University Dr.

    Lauderhill, Florida 33351

You could checkout Tate's then head over to Fort Lauderdale (probably like 15 to 25 minutes from Tate's), have some dinner somewhere on Las Olas Blvd then watch Deadpool at the IMAX theatre.

  6. Excellent post Gator. I purchased several blanks from you on Sunday, for a project I am working on, but you weren't at your booth at the time (I think you literally had just left).

    I was wondering the following:

1). Do you sell a lot to dealers before the show starts?

2). Do you change up your stock for different shows because you have data that tells you certain material is better in certain areas?

3). Since you have an actual retail store, are the "cons" still worth it?

  7. Had it said"Phil's Parking Lot (btw someone needs to PM me the background on that)"
It's a fictitious place, (I believe in Florida originally)where boardies meet up, and get physical with each other. It started after a person or people got strikes for threats. Rather than state you want to kick someone's butt, it's safer to say lets meet at Phil's parking lot.

It's actually a real store. Two board members from the Broward/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area got in a dispute, here on the boards. One threatened the other to meet him/her at the parking lot of Phil's Comics. After that exchange occurred on the board, the term "Phil's Parking Lot" or some derivative there of, became part board slang/lingo for fighting/disputes.

  8. My statue wall:

Mostly Transformers and Harry Potter. There is a Zombie Wolverine, Sauron, Balrog, Death Dealer, Hulk, and Darkwing Duck for good measure too.

I'm too housebroken. I was looking at these great statues and thinking, "What a dusting nightmare".

    doh!

My wife uses a compressed air can and a swifter to clean it. I just bring in my pancake compressor with a blow/air gun tip. Goes by pretty fast either way.
