2800.00 seems like a big gamble.
As long as it isn't restored, it shouldn't be much of a gamble
That price is what 3.5s have been selling for
I agree (thumbs u

Last month, in comic link, Two 4.5 sold for around 2800$
Finally it was a great deal. It got 5.5
http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?id=884195
. . . and if I recall correctly, they sold pretty quickly. I think there might have been more money to be made if those had been around longer. If there's no restoration on that SC #4, it looks like a 3.5 at least. possibly a 4.0 if the spine is better than it appears in the photos. They are a little blurry to be sure. But IMHO it's possible both buyer and seller did ok @ $2800.

I would go for a GL76 8.5 because that's a nice book with a great cover. Don't buy a book you don't like just because it's a good inverstment
-
I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings but can you get a 6.0wiyh such a giant crease?

There is no reason to take a risk on ungraded books. I find my wants amongst the slabs is more than resources.
That's the problem with buying raw books on Ebay, more hassle than reward most of the time.
And that's when you receive them. I bought two raw SA batman on ebay. They guy said is gonna ship two weeks ago and he doesn't reply to my message anymore, no tracking number, no books either
People here are much more reliable.
I assume your books are coming to you by oversea, so I would expect some delays may occur due to custom. If it was shipped with tracking...there is no reason not to provide them to you. If it's a higher value book, the seller should have shipped it by express mail or priority mail with tracking. Also, I heard registered mail is the safest, since it's being carefully handled and tracked by the post office. Now, a respond from the seller will be good business conduct.
I am pretty sure he didn't ship them. They was supposed to be shipped to Florida with insurance and tracking. I told the guy that if he doesn't reply by Saturday, I will open a case. I don't know why people doesn't reply to messages on ebay. I sell a lot of products on ebay. Sometimes, people pay months late but at least they let me know.

Just received the TPB of Cursed Pirate Girl. I wanted to say I loved it.I bought it first for the art (very unique and detailed) and then I felt in love with the story. I hope we can get some more issues soon.

I sent him a message about a BB29 he was selling. There was a shadow in the back of the book (lost the link). So I asked him if it was a real shadow or something from the book and he said it was some dust shadowing.
He does have a lot of big book. Maybe he just try to buy cheap and sell higher.

Certainly more on CL, probably not much more on Ebay.
He needs to wait a year, for me to be ready.
How about the 9.2
How about a 10 year installment plan
The trouble when you have a very expensive product to sell is that the potential customer pool is very small. If ever you need the money, you can't just put the book on ebay. Having people says they buy the book and having people pay for it, it's different. And once you break the 10k barrier, it's becoming tough

Cool! The top part of the scan looked fabulous and then the book got weaker toward the bottom.
I will get better scans once it's in hand.It has some resto supposedly also, but for the price,i'm happy to have another 22 with great eye appeal...much better than the handful of 2.0 +/- Showcase 22's i have and have had lately.
Congrats

Anyway, if it's not somebody from here, it's very likely, we will see it again on eBay on clink

Comic went for over $2800 which is a strong price for the book.
I took a stab but would not have gone that high.
Congrats if it was a boardie.

DO NOT go to the HP8500 for slabs, I just got one and while I like the raw scans better than the previous HP All-In-Ones the slab scans are blurry. My last one was a 7310 and was great for slabs.
Several of these on Ebay.
I am in Tokyo, it would cost me to much to ship one from US. But I found some cheap Epson GT20000, it uses CCD techology and not CID and it looks pretty solid scanner
-
After some Tech investigation, I know why the 8500 doesn't work with slab. It uses CIS technology instead of CCD. CIS has many advantage but a very small depth of view making it blurry for slab.
Unfortunately, it s the same for the 7500 and the exemode

Thanks, I saw your previous post and the slab looked blurry. In Japan, I can find only new scanner. People just throw them away here when they don't want him.
The exemode one is a pure A3 scanner but I think it s not sold in USA and shops doesn't let me try it or return it.
The Monica minolta looks nice but they are all more than 1800$ and I don't want to spend so much.
The 7500 looks nice. I wish somebody could confirm it with a slab scan

Nobody to help me

Anyone notice if all the Showcase 22 hype is spilling over to GL1, and impacting the price for nice copies thereof?
Yes, definitely.
I think it's affecting SC23 and 24 also. Anyway high grade 10cts DC are so rare, they MUST be valuable. It's crazy to see AF15 so expensive when you see the number of copy going around

Multiples would be nice but I have too many books on my want list, even though it is a grail book.
Great to have the collection more complete than just one book.
Showcase22gr1959, you finally upgraded your signature line. Nice to see this 8.5
-
The Savannah copies of Showcase #4, 8 & 13 have been posted on Heritage
The #13 has a different blue background then I seen on any others
Anyone ever seen this coloration?
From the scan, the Showcase 4 is a soft 6.0.
Nice enough for me
-
if somebody could help me to choose my scanner, that would be great.
available in japan, that I could find
HP8500
HP7500
Exemode scanbit mvs-a3 A3 scanner
-
exemode made a cheap A3 scanner around 300$, named scanbit mfs-a3.
I saw some mangaka using it to scan their arts but I never saw how a slab would look like
-
anybody tried the HP 7500A?
-
So do we have a list of scanner that can focus on the comic?
-
Well...I say someone bid on it before he cancel it and decide to keep it.
And be the 1st on the planet to pay quadruple-guide for a SC #22
Sounds tempting to me
Great upgrade for you...but some small risk on grade and PQ, but maybe an upside potential too. Now only if you can see in hand to make the call.
It's a tough call. My other book's a 4.5, OW/W, so it's VERY close.
If resubbed and nothing changed, it's only a .5 bump in grade and a drop in PQ.
I was really hoping for a 6.0
You're kidding right? 4.5 to 6.0.

Showcase #4 Club
in Silver Age Comic Books
Posted
Hi guys
With the tsunami and other recent troubles, I have been out of the comic business but now a SC#4 is definitively my highest priority.
