  1. Yeah for good or bad, my understanding is they were "Afraid" of Mike and his associates. I think they were still hoping to get back the book and or books and didn't want to p i s s him off. Every email I got from them said, "I created this email because Mike knows my email address!" or smilar. Eventually I directly asked them why do they care if he has their email? So basicaly they didn't want him knowing - whatever. I'd say if anyone has there doubts, DM them and hear what they have to say. Here's a snippet: "Better we communicate here since it's my real email. Anyway, I'm also posting on all social media to try to get others. You can reply here from now on. Talk to you soon Randy" I mean, I don't know but sounded harmless enough.
  2. OMG. I've said this before. This board in some small way gives me joy.
  3. Sooo. Another thought comes to mind. Anyone else want to try being a central point of contact on this? I know Sauce Dog had a list going at one time, but that has expired. I know individuals have been advised to "Not get involved or give advice" and that is fine, I respect that. This whole thing is becoming a little draining for me. I'm definitely on this board too often. Is there an individual or group on this thread that the majority feels is trustworthy can be the central poilnt of contact? If there is too much suspicision around Flake / Catalina anyone else is welcome to step forward. From what I've heard from others, we have some traction from Kristi and the Oregon DOJ. I know others may disagree, but from what I see she seems to be our best contact at this time. Anyone speaking with her directly? Would she be interested in a comprehensive list (as of today) as to what was stolen (money for work not completed), never returned (books and value), or returned in worse condition than sent (again name of book, condition, appx value). I don't know if one list exists, but I think it would be a great idea to start one.
  4. LMAO - But seriously I'm just worried that all the 'tom foolery' just takes the focus off of HR / Mike D and getting some kind of justice. I think they are (and certainly I am) trying to do something constructive to get this guy or his company to answer for what happened. That being said, certainly proceed with caution when teaming up with others. But IMO individually our claims (everyone that got burned) are small, but together they are significant.
  5. Yeah. I can’t dispute this. So let me ask the board this. Has anyone been in direct contact with Flake or Cantina and asked for money or anything else out of the ordinary? Have they said something along the lines of “trust me, we’ll fix this whole thing?” If yes now is the time to mention something. And as always do your own research and don’t expect one person or group to fix this mess for you.
  6. Me too: 1) Work 2) Formal / Professional 3) Casual / Friends But I am suspicious!
  7. Hey Mattn - just posting this response here. Thanks for the DM chat. I think everyone is concerned with who is legit and who is not or has an "ulterior motive". And to those reading this, yeah its not good to let one person or even a small group of people to take over and be the 'savior' for everyone. Don't expect any silver bullets here. If someone is asking for money be cautious. Even if it is not the person everyone is pointing too. I mean, you could find a bad lawyer milking you too. Just do your research and don't get burned again.
  8. So more news from my end - I had another person contact me from the website. As you know - I'm not a lawyer, and I don't play one on television, but here is what I recommended: I'd say fill out a complaint with the Oregon DOJ, consult a lawyer (Free consultation) and call the Oregon Police department to open a case. . https://www.doj.state.or.us/consumer-protection/sales-scams-fraud/report-scams-fraud/ https://www.ci.lebanon.or.us/police Also, I was able to find my book was sold here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ssn=geekbay_since_2003&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 This was sold without my knowledge or authorization. Others have reported the same, and the ebay account leads back to Mike. I'd also recommend reviewing the chat board - there is a lot of information there that sometimes get buried. https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/529515-hero-restoration-anyone-know-the-latest/page/62/#comment-13136443 I'm an IT guy, so if you are not comfortable following the links I sent - feel free to do your own research. I'm including Krisit's information from the DOJ. She seems to be actively investigating this, and others have gotten responses and or updates from her. I think its a good start! 9. Are you telling me that I should NOT have signed up for a time-share? Sorry I could not resist that one.
  10. *SIGH* So how about some ground rules?! 1) Don't send anyone money 2) Hire your own lawyer (if you are so inclined and it makes financial sense) 3) If anyone wants to "collab" make sure you do your due diligence and check EVERYONE involved out (lawyers, other members, etc). 4) Stop the in-fighting (unless you have proof someone is doing something nefarious) 5) Keep in mind that there are still victims out there who don't know the extent of this issue. (Still emailing a business that no longer exists) 6) Document everything you have. 7) File a claim SOMEWHERE (official) POLICE / LAWYER / DOJ. I went to the DOJ, as did others https://www.doj.state.or.us/ some people have reported hearing back from Kristi very recently which I think is good news. Markishtum Kristi <kristi.markishtum@doj.state.or.us> I don't care if Mike or his cronies are listening he already sold my book, since he declared bankruptcy again and there's proof the books he had from customers have been sold (or at least listed for sale), the guy can do nothing too me.
  11. Yeah I don't know. This board is addicting! Flake @Randy - why don't you weigh in?
  12. So yeah - just to add to #2. Mike D has already filed bankruptcy twice. I think (don't quote me) once in 2012 and again in 2020 (still pending).
  13. Here are some of the suspected books: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=256369553490&rt=nc&_ssn=geekbay_since_2003&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  14. I've mentioned all of this on the boards previously, but when we spoke at the time, it was not cost effective. I'd mentioned to them that if we were to seek legal counsel I'd have to meet with that firm directly or via Zoom and confirm it was a reputable one. That was about as far as the conversation on that topic went. I did not feel pressure in any way - they "Flake and Cantina" just strike me as other collectors who've been burned by Mike, and want to explore whatever options they have or collectively anyone that has been harmed in all of this. I believe the Zoom call was initiated to establish trust. I've been DM'd by others on this board asking me what they looked like, etc. 1) It wasn't Mike 2) It was not a former employee of HR 3) I did my own sleuthing and feel they are legit.
  15. All off this Cloak and Dagger stuff started because of Mike and his behavior. No one knew who to trust and if there were 'plants' on this board (as apparently there were on the older locked post). What I'm starting to wonder is that everyone pointing at FLAKE has an ulterior motive. What's the point of sewing mistrust here? Doesn't do anything to move this forward.
  16. So I agree that many do. So don't send him money - but don't crucify him either. IMO he's trying to help and they are good guys.
  17. THANK YOU! I agree with others about 'send no money' - but that would be in ANY SITUATION where you don't personally know someone on the Internet. I met Cantina via chat - seemed legit AND DID NOT ASK FOR MONEY. He has his reasons for keeping a low profile and I respect that. These posts take the focus off of the issue at hand. Getting anything back from HR, MD or anyone else involved (eBay, PayPal). My book was sold without my knowledge or compensation to me on eBay. Other books sold by that same account appear to be customers of Mike / HR, so it appears he sold them without our knowledge or consent. So hopefully something can come of that for me and others.
  18. So I respect what you've said. As far as being a raincloud or anyone providing 'false hope'. I'm not sure of anyone else, but I don't have any expectations of getting anything back. But to not try is criminal.
  19. In this vein - someone did contact me from the HeroRestorationComic site I built. I pointed him to the Oregon DOJ and these boards.
