I have three copies of each of the 15 on order, 45 total. Lots more slabbing fees lie ahead.....

In a perfect world, I'd get a trade, a sketch and a virgin of each. But that probably won't happen.

Been a minute since I have preordered comics here in the US.  Any good places online to get in on some of these already?

This is the type of thing that makes me want to get back into collecting The Walking Dead again.  I will be buying some of the these blind bags because it is such a sweet idea.  Now if I could just undo selling off the collection a few years ago....

  3. Keep your head up sir. I have experienced the worst of the worst with FedEx, UPS and USPS including horror stories of comics, sports cards and even gold coins going MIA. The worst case was with the USPS in which a few gold coins went missing in route. The package was insured and I was made whole. Almost 2 years to the day afterwards I had a package delivered to me in a another state (had moved for work and only had a few weeks left in my forwarding of mail/packages from the prior address) and it was the original package of gold coins. The package was in perfect mailing condition and all I could think was WTF 2 years?? When I went to check the tracking # I saw it had went live a few days prior out of California ( went MIA out of Texas going to Ohio so how in the hell it popped back up in Cali is beyond me).

There is always hope it just got mistakenly sat aside or feel aside and you will see it delivered this week.

  4. Just wanting to let the board know that the 12 Team $75 Buy In Walking Dead Fantasy Football League that we have ran now for 4 or 5 seasons has a spot open. It is a 2 player keeper league and we lost bigclutch (Shawn) and one other player this season. If you are interested in joining PM me.

I can send over the team that you would be taking over along with explaining all the details of the league to you. The board members who are active in the league this year include myself and ebtorres, Triston Pence, @Captain_Sawyer, strezz_dout, cbalroman, AnthaiHERO, artistlost, Rmfn33, ComicsNYC22, and dhurley. Even though Shawn can not play in the league this season he will be throwing in for us a sweet CGC Graded Walking Dead comic for the winner.

This is one of the funniest leagues I have ever ran or been a part of and you will enjoy the competitiveness of the league.

EDIT: Looks like we are full now FlyingDonut took the final spot. I did post a new thread over in The Water Cooler in regards to running a 3rd league here on the boards (I run both the 12 team Walking Dead League and the 10 team CGC General league which both have been active now for 4 and 5 seasons with me as the commish). If anyone is looking for a league stop in over on the thread on the Water Cooler.

  5. If anyone is interested in doing this years Walking Dead Fantasy Football league it looks like we will have at least 2 openings available (We may also have a spot or 2 available in the Comics General 10 team league also, which is a $50 buyin).

Buy in is $50 or Walking Dead stuff worth at least $50 or more to participate. We will be playing on Yahoo again this year and this is a 12 team league. Big Clutch ended up winning the league last year so here is your chance to knock him off the podium. :)

    PM me if interested.

    -Brendan

  6. If anyone is interested I have a for sale thread going with some foreign Walking Dead stuff, some badass zombie sketches and my big Walking Dead #1 print that I have been getting the actors signatures on over the past 3 years. Open to offers on everything from the regulars in this thread. :)

    Walking Dead FS thread

Having just had my first child with the wife and now looking at possibly being out my job by the end of the year I am starting to sell off everything in my collection.

  7. There are definitely folks on here who see this as no big deal, which surprises me.

But...they hearken back to the dark days of doctored books and rampant trimming, amateur color touch with sharpies, etc, and feel like CGC's mistakes are far outweighed by what they've brought to the collecting world--namely the ability to buy with confidence online and record sales.

    I get all that.

I still like the idea of an external CGC audit to gauge what the variance is with resubs. I'm guessing it's in the 15%+ range, rather than the 1-2% range.

I don't think the frequent comment of, "If you're not happy with your grade, just resub it" would be so common if the variance was only 1-2%.

    (shrug)

I don't think there's anyone in this thread who doesn't see this as a significant screw-up from CGC's side (aka "a big deal") ...

But, yes, I personally don't think a mistake like this somehow invalidates all the benefits that CGC have brought to this hobby

As for the 15%+ range, I'd say you're way off there - look at the SS forum, for instance. That forum is basically comprised of people who crack & re-slab books over & over again and there's a new "how often do your SS books change grades"-thread every 6 months or so. None of those threads have ever displayed a level of variance anywhere near those 15% - nor have I experienced this myself with the 300-400 books I've personally cracked for SS. Roy's 1-2% variance seems spot on as far as I can tell.

It all makes sense now about you being a CGC Mod. When I got the chance to meet you in person and you had on that t-shirt that said "I'm a CGC Mod sucka!" I didn't put two and two together.

    :insane:

CBT can I be a CGC Mod also in your eyes?

Now Dre introducing himself to me as JJ was pretty damn funny also. If only I didn't actually know JJ I might have went along with it. :)

  8. Whats up with these Portland 2nd prints? One guy sells 4-5 9.8 a few weeks ago and now another 4 0r 5 show up. Thought these were only mailed to people that didn't get one at the show. Not sure if I'm off with my thinking but I wish I worked at image. Blank Hero covers, Lucille cover, what seem to be a flood of some of the limited 100 covers (ottley and alike)

WOW....starting to sound like those people that I think are nuts!!!!!

Yeah...Yeah I know ...I need proof. Anyone that has worked at Image in the last 10 years and wants to help me with some information please PM me.

Or if your the guy that has a bundle of 100 blank hero covers PM me.

Once again I have no problem with what comps and freebee's are handed out but I would like to know how this affects the "RARE ISSUES"

On the Portland 2nd prints my guess is they probably didn't have to print a hard # of them, say 200, so some extras are coming out of the woodwork over the normal amount of overprints like you may see on a book limited to 200 or 500 copies. I have heard before that 10% is common amount for a "limited" book to have in overprinted copies just in case. Now do these usually get destroyed once there is no need for replacements through say Diamond destroying or poorly shipping books? Or do some of these make there way out the backdoor.

I know from sports cards stuff goes out the back door. I know from toys / action figures stuff goes out the backdoor and I know of instants where it has also happen with comics.

We have seen it with Walking Dead (unsigned #100s) and we will probably see it happen some more.

  9. Some new ones that came in.

Nice books sir. Just got back my stuff from Louisville. Thanks again. Got 9.8s on everything but the 1980 Star Trek #1 signed by Shatner. Was a 9.6 which as a last minute raw eBay purchase turned out better than expected. :)

  10. Did you guys end up doing a football fantasy league?

Yeah, we got a 12 team league going that will be live drafting tomorrow. Some people bought in with cash some people bought in with the following.

Walking Dead WW Chicago #1 CGC 9.8

Walking Dead #112 Image Expo Sig Series CGC 9.8

WD #112 Image Expo Variant, WD #101 Ghost Variant, WD #106 I&B Variant, WD #1 German Edition.

    WD #100 Comixology CGC 9.8

One other person is buying in with a WD Slab that will be epic I am sure but the details are so far secret. :)

So some good WD items to pick from.

  11. Nice add to your collection, James.

And it does kinds suck that the majority of the HI covers when to dealers. Well, it kinda sucks if they just plan on flipping them. For all I know, they are huge WD fans and never plan on selling them.

However, it would be interesting to see what they would have gone for without galehaut and claveincorado bidding on them.

If they bought them to flip them then I think they will be very disappointed in the results.

    +1

There is more money to be made in flipping fine Canadian Leather Couches than in flipping these HI covers.

  12. If any other board members are still looking to get their fix of Fantasy Football for the year bryan91 is running the CGC High Rollers League again this year. 10 Team League with a $100 buy-in. PM myself or bryan91 if you want in, just a couple spots left to fill the league.

Crazy with a $100 buy-in you would think everyone would somewhat know what they are doing but I am not convinced anyone but myself knew a thing about football with how everyone drafted last year.
