  1. Hello,

I submitted a Nm/m high value  book for grading.   It did receive a CGC 9.8 White.  But the book in the holder I received doesn't appear to be mine since it had all 4 corners blunted multiple stress lines that break color

and large staple tears.   So, my question is  how could quality control miss this or when in the critical path of the grading process do you lose camera sight of the book.  I am not saying it was switched

but it does not appear to be the book I sent in.   A mechanical error ticket has been opened the book shipped back to you.

    Thanks.

  2. *If you submit a CGC-graded collectible that needs to be removed from its original holder by CGC, the collectible will need to go through the certification and encapsulation process again, and there is no guarantee that it will receive the same grade.

Just curious why a book graded lets say  9.8 sent in for signature would not receive the same grade.  What would cause it to be different.  Thx

  3. The 1st appearance is very important since it effects the value of the book.   This is serious stuff since it involves a Key character for years to come..... and money.... The reason I brought this

up is because sellers on some selling sites, depending on the book they own will tell you their book is the 1st appearance....  X-men 126 is a good example of this situation.....

  4. Thanks.  CGC says Hell Arisen 3.  But  this issue is only a cameo similar to Hulk 180 and ASM 299.  Batman 92 is the first full appearance. CGC apparently has it wrong. Lets see what Overstreet says

    when it comes out...

  5. Thanks once again to the amazing bghkoyama for two super Usagi books I've wanted and some sweet freebies.

Brian, you pack like these books have to be protected for the space launch, ship faster than The Flash could keep up with, and always insert a caring note. What else can I do for you? Setup a bank account and just do direct deposit from here on out?

    My hero! (thumbs u

Bosco at his best. Sucking up to Greggy.

  6. If I had that book I'd sell it in a minute, buy a 9.8, and add alot of other key books to my collection...

Yep, this 9.9 and 10.0 stuff is just pure stupidity - maybe, and just maybe, there is a chance that a perfect book would make it to CGC's HQ, but after their staff opens the package, removes the book, and places it in a labeled Mylar, their graders inspect the cover, do a page count, and examine each of the interior pages for stains, tape, rips, etc.,, and then their encapsulation staff places the book in the well, heat-seals it and sets it in the plastic slab, I cannot understand how it could ever be "perfect".

Too much handling, too many hands - it's physically impossible.

I smell a rat.....................JC you are on your game.................It has to be restored and trimmed with some laser beam not yet discovered. Impossible to get a 9.9 with that much handling. From Manufacturer to distributor to comic store to buyer holding it and putting it in a bag after he buys it to putting it in mylar and a backing board and numerous owners over 34 years and then someone shipping it to CGC where 7 more people without gloves hold it again.....for grading. Is Ideal C on the boards.............

  7. So we were discussing the topic of 9.9 and 10.0 books, and someone asked if Hulk 181 ever broke the 9.8 barrier.

Shockingly enough, there is one 9.9 now in the census. Let me guess, The Dentist owns it, right?

Now you ruined my day.............................I am so jealous........Red cover book on that era that is a 9.9. I smell a rat..................

What does ya all think that would sell for.???? (worship)

  9. I have been on the boards for 6 years. What makes it fun is the knowledge one gets from all the pros but also the funny bantering and teasing that is the framework of our cultures personality Also sarcasim is rapant as well

There are rules and guidelines added every year but none removed. With 12 thousand members now the challenge of being a moderator is incredible. There is a lot of bantering and teasing etc because in my opinion we have covered just about every topic ever related to comics and some of us get bored. What is fun is teasing the members we have known for years every once in a while without the fear of getting a strike.

Unless you have shills causing problems. racist remarks, slanderous remarks let people duke it out when appropriate.. The way to do that is to have a duke it out forum with the rules I just mentioned. That way people who get in flame wars can be moved to that forum by the moderator........................ Although I have been here for a long time I don't have many posts like the rest of my 03 class since having a sense of humor is somewhat being discouraged or misinterpreted by the moderator at times and I enjoy that. I also like adding information to the newbies that is helpful. I try to balance it out.

    Thanks.

  10. New management and new grading standards according to my deep throat contact. The value of keys bronze and silver that are 9.8 now will surely go up in value gradually as the industry figures this out. Or they could go down. Unlike PGX who grades books 9.9 no matter what.. There is an ebayer this week who has 200+ 9.9 books for sale.

So this begs for a solution. The industries top comic leaders need to get with CGC like they did in the beginning and work with them on what will be the approprite grading for each level. We can't have all management who are all accountants setting grades for our books.
