  1. Target Comcs V2 #8 http://www.heritagecomics.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=817&Lot_No=4029&src=pr
  2. FC 379 - "Southern Hospitality" Pre dates 386 by a few months and has a prominent Scrooge cover and story no less plust it is not drawn by Barks. Besides the fact that it is fairly politically incorrect. FC 386 matches WDCS 138 so any WDCS stories with Scrooge such as 134 with the first beagle boys predate the 386. http://www.brucehamilton.com/anotherrainbow/scroogelist.html

Daffy Duck: see above Elmer Fudd: Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies 1 Sylvester FC 406? Tweety FC 406? Yosemite Sam Michigan P Frog Spooky: Casper 10 Casper: Casper 1 Baby Huey: Also Casper 1 Pogo: Animal Comics 1 Gladstone Gander: WDCS 88 Gyro Gearloos: WDCS 140 Huey Duey Louis: Walt Disney's Comics and Stories # 3 Daisy Duck: Large Feature # 16 Minnie Mouse: Goofy: Pluto: Peter pan Mighty Mouse: Terry-Toons # 38 Atomic MouseL Atomic Mouse # 1 Woody Woodpecker: Funnies 64, I think Woody Woodpecker associated characters Andy Panda Crackajack Funnies # 39 Felix the Cat Funnies 64 Popeye: King Comics #1 Olive Oyl, Bluto, Whimpy, Baby
  4. King Comics #1... yeah right, thats a comic you see for sale once a lifetime. No doubt the linen book predates fc#4 but I sort of don't accept those as comic books. Plus the first Donald Duck with the short beak and attitude and it makes for his first appearance to me (and me only I guess). Same with FC 16. BTW is WDCS #3 really the first appearance of HD&L? #4 is the first cover but....
  5. Who are you callin' skinny - seems a mite plump to me.
  6. Oh yeah Tom and jerry too: Probably an Our Gang I would guess.
  7. I really enjoy the cartoon comics of the 40's mainly because I like the covers and they seen a better bargain than prints or cells of the cartoons themselves. I just came into a collection of low grade cartoon books and started wondering about their first appearances. Here's a list of characters please feel free to add to them and am curious where the first appearance is. With some of these I am going off of memory so please correct anything that is mistaken. Little Dot and Richie Rich: Little Dot 1 Ramona: RR 100 Dollar: RR 60 (questionable if you read the book and see the cover) Archie: Pep 22? Uncle Scrooge: FC 148 Bugs Bunny: Looney Tunes 1, or Feature #8 Porky Pig: Looney Tunes 1 or the book with him and Daffy Duck from 1937(?) Daffy Duck: see above Elmer Fudd Sylvester Tweety Yosemite Sam Michigan P Frog Gladstone Gander: WDCS 88 Gyro Gearloos: WDCS 140 Huey Duey Louis: Daisy Duck Minnie Mouse: Goofy: Pluto: Peter pan I won't even go into Mickey and Donald since they have so many cartoon type books it gets impossible to say what the first "comic" book was. I consider FC 4 and FC 16 as the first true comic appearance. Mighty Mouse Atomic Mouse Woody Woodpecker Woody Woodpecker associated characters Amdy Panda Fritz the Cat Popeye Olive Oyl, Bluto, Whimpy, Baby It always seems like these characters were first seen in reprint type comics or "Large Feature comics" and the like with no real first appearance. My main interest are specifically these cartoon character books and its tough to easily find this info out scrolling through an Overstreet. Thanks for the help on these, commentary is appreciated as well. Ed
  8. Thanks for the Tec 73 Doiby. A minor grail that I could never find at a good price.
  9. Just bought this one from a board member, thanks Doiby.
  10. I thought my note would be read in jest. I think its kind of funny and sort of a treat.
  11. Looks like comics.org looks at the CGC boards. They used my image of Richie Rich 1 .... and without my permission no less. http://comics.org/covers.lasso?SeriesID=12658
  12. The covers from 1-26 are some of the best Golden Age covers ever. After that they get more and more goofy. Here are two of the goofiest. I guess the gag here is that Lois isn't a very good cook and here "hard" muffins hurt Superman. Or that Superman is just poking fun at the fact that he can't be hurt. EIther way its stupid. Notice him winking, you can barely see it. Superman, fully clothed, with a lifeguard hat on. He is very serious though and not distracted by the hot looking babes showing adoration. Thanks for the image, next time just make him gay and get it over with.
  13. Always room in a collection for a Richie Rich #1. Just got 'er today.
  14. Those classic #1 issues are sort of self generated classics (Action 1 is a classic, Batman or Superman 1 are typical #1 issues, no real artistic jazz) . The #24 is a top 10 in my opinion but pales in comparsion to the 14. I have always thought that classic covers were just that "Classic" There are awesome Horror, Torture, WWII Nazi books but Classic is a category in and of itself and 14 is by far the most classic of all. For my money, classic covers are either fight scenes or almost artistic poses. I'm thinking of Captain midnight covers, Captain Marvel Jr and master Comics covers. Certain Frazetta Covers. Even typical DC or Marvel classics like Flash 123, certain Batman Bronze, Surfer 4, FF 25 & 112, Spiderman 39 50 etc. Superman 14 is in a class by itself.
  15. Superman 14 - I can't get over the tears on the pages, major downgrade
  16. My brain broke looking at your 14. Has this been voted the most classic cover of all time yet?
  17. Kudos to Nikos for sending an ASM 13 before I paid for it. (Check went out today BTW)
  18. Not only will it sell, it'll sell for $200 to $250 I bet. Remember the Batman 31 front cover only auction? http://boards.collectors-society.com/sho...true#Post816582 It sold for $550, I figure half that for this POS will be the max.
  19. If you ever wanted a cheap pre Robin Detective - this is it. They just don't get any fuglier though, and hey, its complete.... http://cgi.ebay.com/Detective-Comics-36-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  20. Archie 10 and the only Archie I have.
  21. Spidey 99, classic nostrel shot. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/ft888/asm99.jpg">
