  1. $4 Bakers may be a thing of the past... but here's a $9 Baker. There's still a (very) few Baker bargains out there:
  2. Not a huge step up, particularly with the coupon out on the back cover... but it's a step up!
  3. I once found a comic with a Todd McFarlane signature on the first page in the... I think it was a 40 cent bin, actually. Unfortunately, it was Spitfire & the Troubleshooters #4, not a Spider-Man issue.
  4. Unfortunately, the initial run sold out and according to @Bookery there's no plans to reprint it currently.
  5. Ask away, we have lots of answers. Some of them may even match your questions!
  6. Creepy 22 thoughts: Cover: I'm not a huge fan of this cover, the color choices are amazing but something about the faces just doesn't work for me. But it's one of those "It's me, not the cover" cases. Home is Where... It looks like Boyette is trying to channel Ditko, and he's no Ditko. And the twist, while not necessarily bad in concept, gets botched in execution. Monster Rally: Really doesn't help that they pick a reprint that has the same twist as the first story. No Fair: Much better, although the final twist feels a bit tacked on. Strange Expedition: Good but not spectacular, solidly in the trying to be EC tradition. I think this is Colon's Warren debut, and he's another underrated artist. The Judge's House: No new comment from me on this one. Perfect Match: The issue closes on a story that's completely solid while you read it but is completely forgettable the minute you finish, until you pick up the issue again to re-read it. Not a bad issue, but also not a terribly memorable one. As my fairly short comments on it indicate, I just couldn't figure out that much to say.
  7. And from a different local store today. The Heinlein is a 1st paperback edition in just stunning shape. The Armed Services Edition isn't so nice... but it's been ages since I've seen an ASE in the wild.
  8. I doubt it will take much of a value hit, it's still a striking image with a difficult black cover. It may stay steady for a long time, though; not increasing or dropping.
  9. Good luck, and even if you're no longer collecting the title don't be a stranger around here!
  10. This was the first that came to mind, and I've been trying for a couple weeks to see if anything else came to mind. It hasn't, this is just an iconic, often swiped classic that captures the spirit of Silver Age DC perfectly.
  11. And the books came in. Some have some minor dings, and I can't say much for the packaging... they were just in a cardboard envelope with no other protection. But they're all VF+ to NM and that's plenty good for my purposes. But I don't think your odds of getting 9.8 candidates are great... only one of the five books I got might be a candidate. I'm happy with them, though. Great covers!
  12. Two finds at a local store today. Frazetta and Wood doing SF covers, does it get any better than this? (Yes, it does. But this isn't shabby at all.)
  13. Up to 70/89 on the Looney Tunes Four Colors. But they're going to very rapidly start getting trickier, and I suspect the 16, 33, and 48 will cost me more than the other 86 issues put together:
  14. Speaking of Toth... I just got in this issue of Zorro he did the cover for. It shows off his design sense marvelously in my opinion:
  15. This was almost exactly what I was coming here to post after thinking about the question a while. I've said for a long time that the best comic book artist ever was Wally Wood on a good day... the problem being he had lots of bad days as well.
  16. Finally, a trio of covers that weren't Four Colors... but they were certainly commissioned based on the work the artist had done on the character for the Four Color series decades before. Call them Four Color adjacent:
  17. An assortment of books. We start with two issues that I chose through a careful, meticulous consideration of all the relevant factors. Namely, they were 1300 series Four Colors under $5 each at MCS:
