  1. It’s the only GA book I know of with a (mostly) blank cover. Mad 13 might also work. So it’s a natural candidate for sketching with a GA twist.
  2. Stout is probably as close as you can get to somebody with the proper pedigree these days:
  3. I'm tempted to track down another copy of Panic #6 and have somebody illustrate it after this thread.
  4. Today's book. I don't think this one requires my usual commentary:
  5. I would have thought Alter Ego would be a more obvious home for this than Overstreet, but agreed it needs a bigger audience.
  6. Others have mentioned the Gerber guides, which are amazing, and were even more so at the time. For some books (the ones in the public domain), you can see not even the covers but the whole issues: https://digitalcomicmuseum.com/
  7. So, found this book at a local store today for $3. Ploog is always amazing, so quite happy to get it. BUT, when I got home, I found this print inside. I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the distribution of the print?
  8. It's absolutely not too late to get into the Golden Age. You won't be able to get everything you want, but you can still find a lot of affordable, good stuff, even in your interests. One thing you might look at ls alternative titles, in some cases. World's Finest and Comic Cavalcade would be cheaper sources of GA DC superheroes than the main Superman/ Batman/ Wonder Woman/ Green Lantern/ Flash books in lots of cases, for example. I'm sure other people can make similar suggestions. If you can get to a mid-to-large size convention, your options open way up. Lots of bargains there that never show up online. Not sure how many shows in Europe have dealers with significant US stock, but others might know.
  9. Now: Marvel Super-Heroes #8 (90's series). No matter how much I love the character and the current series, it boggles my mind. No guess on the "in 5 years" book, sorry.
  10. I don't see myself ever replacing my Adventure #247 if I had to let it go; at best I might be able to get a coverless copy. And at that point any of the dozen reprints of the story would do instead.
  11. I'm still buying to read and, if it's public domain, scan the books, so High Grade isn't normally my target. I would say my sweet spot is around a 3.5, with a fondness for the "presents higher but one big flaw" books. But with Golden Age, it's largely I'll take what I can find and afford.
  12. The Black Diamond 16 has the first Bing Bang Buster by Basil Wolverton; there might be some interest in that one. But the odds are good the person would want it unslabbed so they can see the story.
  13. And today's issue, #40. 19 more to go; but those last few are just going to get trickier and trickier fast.
  14. Not something I would normally post, or even in general collect... but this one seems worthy of note since it's the first appearance of Little Annie Fanny.
  15. Let's keep going from Amazing Stories to Amazing Stories. And you're right about that being the 2nd and last Buck Rogers pulp and only cover. The only thing you missed is the comic strip actually started between the two issues.
  16. Amazing Stories to Amazing Stories (I may have used this one before in this thread. It's hard to resist posting this one regularly.)
  17. Found in the wild today. Signed by Ellison, Steranko art, very happy to have the HC edition.
  18. Not 100% sure this is the right topic, if it's off I apologize. Canadian edition, very beat but complete as I continue my quest to put together the lowest grade reading copy run of Venus ever. This one gives me 15 of the 19 issues, plus both MMC 91 and Lana 4. I'm not doing too bad, but getting #1 and #19 are both going to be nightmares...
  19. Similarly, they had already established that most of the characters in question had moderately high profile "girlfriends, not wives"...Daisy, Minnie, Petunia. Sylvester didn't, so they could go with a son rather than a nephew.
  20. But the Porky Pig run was always a bit of a side project. As to the main effort: 45 and 49. 20 issues to go. And I now have everything from #44 up; giving me an unbroken run of over 200 issues.
  21. There was a reason I went for the 77 despite the condition... these were on the way, although the 77 beat them here. 71, 75, and 79... and that gives me the complete run of 46-81. Not a terribly tricky run to put together, but I'm happy to have it. I've learned the hard way too many times, grab that filler copy when you can for the last issue you need!
  22. A minor pickup today; Porky Pig #77. This one seems to be a bit scarce; I went with this copy because there were only 2 I could locate, and the other one was 10x as much. I'll keep my eyes open for an upgrade. Only 3 more issues I need for the Dell Porky run I'm trying for; 46-81
  23. Today's pickup; last of the three issue run and the last of the three I needed. As is common to many of my digest pickups recently, it has a never reprinted Harlan Ellison story:
