  1. This might not be the most popular thread, but I'll keep going as long as I know some people are enjoying it! Here's #58 and #59:
  2. Onward with I've sold on quite a few books, but that one is not going anywhere. Way too much sentimental value at this point, if nothing else. Onward to #52 and #53:
  3. And here's #50 and #51. Still a handful of holes to go, but from here on out things are pretty darn solid.
  4. Here's #42 and #48. I've had the #48 for over 30 years now; it was the first 1940's issue I ever owned. Not the first LTMM issue, mind you; the first 1940's comic, period. So it holds a very special place in my collection: it's the book where I found out it was actually possible to even own comics that old; that I could eventually see bits of comic history going back almost to the start of the hobby. It's been a long road since then, but getting that book was the first solid step I ever made along it. (We'll get to my very first issue of Looney Tunes eventually; it was awesome to get but I thought of that as a one-off bit of luck, not a repeatable feat.)
  5. And #35 and #37. Tomorrow will be the other big gap day, after tomorrow there's only 5 holes left.
  6. #25 and #30. I warned you today was going to be a big gap day:
  7. I know I have no clue why Daffy was so absent... most of the early LTMM's don't even have Daffy in them. It's just a bizarre gap. As we ponder that mystery of life, let us continue with the covers. Here's #23 and #24: I think somebody was mentioning football covers, either here or another thread...
  8. And #21 and #22. Tomorrow we'll get 23-25, and then you'll see the biggest gaps in my run. #22 is very unusual, with no Bugs other than the cameo on the side. I think #9 (which I don't have) is the only other cover that doesn't feature Bugs.
  9. Glad people seem to be enjoying the idea. And as promised, for today at least I can directly follow up. This won't be the case tomorrow. We start with #17 and #18:
  10. And finish today's lot with #15 and #16. Tomorrow will continue without any gaps at all, at least.
  11. Somebody was complaining over in the Non-Four Color Dell thread that THIS thread wasn't getting enough love. Fine, I'll see what I can do. I'll shoot for 5-6 covers a day, and go in order. Some of them have been posted before, the collection has holes as late as issue #76, and I'm mostly not looking for copies in grade. Nevertheless, this should keep the thread busy a few weeks. We start with issues #5 and #6:
  12. Well, I'm specifically trying for the Mary Jane & Sniffles stories, but if that's your project there's no reason to look for 238 issues of Looney Tunes but skip the last 8. I've also got the full run of Giants, as they all have MJ & S stories, but other than a few odd books here and there I haven't bothered with the other titles and spin-offs. I should look into the MJ & S text stories in Porky Pig one of these years, though...
  13. And just to mix it up a little, with another ECCC snag... I want to say dollar bin, might have been $3:
  14. And that version of Thor actually first shows up in Venus #11, despite some sources saying #12. I could scan the relevant page if needed... Although I don't think the Thor in Venus really maps to the latter Thor very well at all. Loki, however, is a lot closer to the later version. Not identical, but close enough that I think the Venus #6 is a meaningful book in a way the #11 isn't.
  15. And a couple more: One of these days I'll get bored and post the 170 consecutive issue run I've got. This is not that day, however. :-)
  16. Because I'm down to 32 books to go for my Looney Tunes run, and I often don't feel like scanning my older books? With that said, there was ECCC last weekend, so a few holes did get filled...
  17. A relatively minor pickup, but nice to have. Basil Wolverton for the win!
  18. I think you did solve the reason for the incorrect date. The indicia starts: "WORLD'S FINEST COMICS, No. 96, September, 1958. Published monthly, with the exception of January, May, July, and November..." . So, if that's where the change from 6x to 8x occurs, it makes perfect sense that the cover had what would have been the correct date before the change in schedule. The 97 then has the correct October date, both on the cover and in the indicia, and both the 97 and 98 have the same list of skip months. I don't have a copy of 99 to check, but I'm guessing by 101 they decided to evenly space the skip months, so April rather than May is skipped. Thank you for the research, mystery at least partly solved!
