  1. Hey fellow nerds, I'll be at Star Wars Celebrations this year for the entire event (April 10th - 16th) and if anyone needs any help, please let me know. I won't be able to take tons of books that are submitted due to the limited ability of where I can transport and store at the event, but if that changes, I'll let folks know. PM me for my contact info if you need help. Cheers! -Chris

  2. If you have anything you need help getting signed in Arizona, PM me. I go to PHXCC every year (10 years strong this year) and I'll hit up any LCS or smaller CON if it's in AZ (mainly the greater PHX area). I also try to get out to SDCC and Star Wars Celebrations (when it's in the U.S.). A bunch of the other board members and some CGC staff can vouch for me. I know how to crack slabs like and show your books or art work respect when handling them. I'm not a comic dealer nor do I have plans to quit my day job to do this for a living. I just love comics and helping others who share a similar passion who can't attend a con.

If your requests are reasonable (ex. a few books here and there for artists or authors, etc.) But I will charge if you want have custom sketch cover requests, need me to stand in long lines and wait hours to get a bunch of celebrities on a book, etc. Because it is getting a little insane now at all the cons I've been too as of recent and from what I've heard what happened last year at Star Wars Celebrations.

  3. It makes me sick to my stomach that I have to do this as I truly wanted to pass these down to my 9 year old boy when he got older but I can't risk a significant hit to my savings and taxes.  I need to come up with some cash to cover some additional attorney fee's I wasn't expecting as a result of my recent divorce. I was debating about dipping into my savings but I not at the cost of what the taxes would be compared to if I sold a few of my prized Star Wars comics. I have a few dozen more and I'll be putting more up if I'm unable to raise the cash I need to cover my expenses.

If anyone is interested, feel free to hit me up and let me know what your best offer would be. I have them up on eBay also.

    -Chris

Here's a single page you can bookmark for the full CGC census history for Star Wars #1.

It will automatically update with each week's updates.

I love me some data! Thanks for sharing! Still can't believe that in less than 5 years over 191 9.8's were submitted! I really wish that there was a better way of tracking these books. Albeit, the overall data quality of this metadata is garbage. If a books gets submitted as a 9.6 blue label, someone presses it and it gets resubmitted as a 9.8, the 9.6 count doesn't go down. I say they insert an RFID tag inside of every book for proper tracking and to increase the data integrity overall.

    Welcome back Roanry,

    where have you been?

    :hi:

lol Thanks Magnus. My life has been sucked into the blackness they call BF4 on the PS4! All of my pals from the past who I played BF2 with skipped BF3 and waited for the PS4 to come out with BF4. So there you have it. I won't lie, I have missed getting on here and just now catching up. So really cool books been posted lately.

But back to these posters. I have three that are signed by various members. My fav. being the one signed by Lucas and Ford. I got all three over 18 years ago when I was in the service and in Europe.

How have you guys been? Happy New Year!

  6.

Funny story, I asked her if she had seen the new JJ Star Trek and she looked at me funny and said (and I quote): "YES!, wait...yes..wait...Did I?"

I responded by: "I don't know, I wasn't with you. Did you see it with Shatner?"

She then said: "OH YES! Bill! Loved him in it!"

I said thank you and gracefully exited her area.

Then she went on to tell me a very interesting story of her eating dinner with Martin Luther King Jr. at his house watching Star Trek in their living room.

This is her about to do the same thing on my other book before I stopped her!

  7. Forgot to tell you Andy that your amazing TWD / Star Wars sketch came back a cool 9.8! Just got home from the CopperCon and I was passing the image around and Marco over @ Pop Culture Paradise remembered seeing it online. I showed Steve Leialoha it and he thought it was really, really good! :)

Can't wait for you to do a front / back cover sketch for me! :cloud9:

You going to CopperCon this weekend? Mike said he thought you were going to be stopping by.

That is an awesome sketch! Nice job Par2ch! :acclaim:

Now all you need is Harrison and Mark to sign it! hm

  9. Great books! I love how that Zahn SS came out!

Thanks bud! (thumbs u I am very grateful that you took the time to seek out Mr. Zahn for me to get three :o 9.8 blanks signed by him! I am excited to get sketches on the next two soon. :)

I noticed when he signed my first book that he was writing something next to his sig. At first, I thought, could he be trying to do a small sketch? Nope, it was the date! :) I think he is the only guy I have seen sign and date his sigs. Very cool.

  10. Thanks! (thumbs u Here are a couple of sketches, one that I had signed by Timothy Zahn first as a blank.

Grand Admiral Thrawn by Rahsal Ekedal, I love his style. :cloud9: And signed by creator Zahn. :acclaim:

Wow! Love them all! Very very cool man! What a GREAT idea on getting that Thrawn sketch done and having Zahn first sign it! GENIUS!

  11. Congrats on those sketches! :acclaim:

Where did you get those Zahn sigs, those are pretty cool. (thumbs u

Thanks! Zahn was at PHXCC this year and signing anything you wanted to throw at him for free! I had brought some old comics I had purchased 10+ years ago and read and didn't have time to get better copies. I was able to find two there at the show at a local retailers booth. Hence why those got a 9.6 and the others didn't. I was very surprised that they were graded so high! I wasn't expecting that to happen! :)

  12. Here are my new ones I just picked up this last weekend while @ PHXCC

  13. Just got an 8300. I have a new computer with windows 8 and I could not get the HP scanning system to work. Vuescan also did not work. For some reason, with both tools the scanner would lockup while scanning 80% of the time. Finally just started using Fireworks, which I use to edit photos anyway.

How is this looking? Just standard settings at 200 DPI.

    xmen188-96.gif

I had the exact same issue. But found this page on HP's support site that resolved all my issues for my HP ScanJet 8300

    HP ScanJet 8300 Drivers/Software/Firmware

Once I updated the firmware (which the update resolves these exact issues) then updated the drive both VueScan and HP's scanning software worked 100% of the time.
