I wish he could get back on Rat Queens. Wiebe+Roc = success.
-Terry
Keep wishing!
Right now it's Wiebe+Tess = success. Issue #12 is already done, meaning for the first time since Issue #2 we will ship two issues a month apart.
Roc's got something else cooking up that he is excited about, so you'll see him soon enough!

I really hope that they can keep to the current release schedule of 1 per month. The loss of momentum in a title can really kill its following. I didn't keep up with it for other reasons, but now I'm scarfing up back issues with abandon. The reality is that you can have the best story and artwork in the world, but if you produce 1 comic every 4 months in a comic with slow pacing, no one's going to buy it.
It's very sad that things turned south for Upchurch, as I think his artistic style was perfect for this genre. But I'm optimistic about Sejic.
Issue #1 was one of the best (definitely in the top 5) comics I've read in the past 2 years.
-Terry
Eight issues straight from January through to September (well, almost, missed an issue in February) , with Vol.2 coming out next month.
Committed to being on time and with Stjepan on board, we'll make it happen.
Title Release date
Rat Queens #9 March 4
Rat Queens #10 April 8
May
June
July
Rat Queens #11 August 19 ?
Stjepan Sejic became seriously ill after finishing issue 10 and had to drop off. Originally we were going to wait until he recovered so he could resume (hence the delay through May and June) but his condition worsened and we told him to rest and we'd find a new team.
Which we did, and they took end of June until last week to finish issue #11, with it coming out on August 19th.
That's the reality that comic buyers don't seem to understand. If we become sick or face other life problems, there is no one else to pick up the slack. We aren't Marvel or DC where we just fill in with people on the spot. It can take months to recover from an event like that.
As for Panzerfaust, Tyler hasn't been able to work on it because he hadn't made money on it in, at the very minimum, six issues. It's hard to commit full time to something when you can't make any money.

I've said it before, but I'm not keen on the Pukeko pictures style of animation; Jane and the Dragon and the Wotwots are two of their productions. They did just come out with Thunderbirds Are Go! that premiered in April; Where the puppet/marionette style of characters seems appropriate. Though, speaking as a fan, I'm uneasy about their ability to do Rat Queens justice.
-Terry
Animation wouldn't be done in house.

Wonder if losing the artist hurt the TV show prospects. The buzz balloon pretty much popped after that happened.
I agree the events with the artist hurt the momentum and it would seem might have affected it.
Our sales have increased. Our pre orders for volume 2 were five times the amount than for volume 1.
And that article didn't get the whole context of the conversation. So, that was swell of him to write without asking me any f@cking questions.
It has expired, but is in the process of being renewed.
Sheesh, you negative Nellie's!

Kurtis?!!?! Are you tapping THAT?! You devil you....you sly, sick, twisted, evil genius devil you.
Dip it in sideways at least 1x for me please.

I ran a Rat Queens D&D game with Felicia over the weekend.
She played Violet.

Lots of cool things happening on that front. Moving forward a lot quicker than Panzerfaust (which is still happening, I'm told).
And I'm being brought on to co-write the pilot for RQ, so that's cool.

It's a new direction, with new art, but the story remains the same.
With Stjepan on board, we will have a regular monthly schedule. 8 issues in the next 9 months.
Definitely a transition period, but the amount of content coming out this year will be as much as we'd shipped since the series came out. Very excited. Fans won't be disappointed. Promise.

should just retire the book
This is my living and how I support my family. I wish it were that easy. But thanks for the advice.

I hate to say it, but...you might have to wait a bit longer for answers to those particular questions! The answers aren't in issue 8.
mmm this one was more of an origin issue. still good stuff though!
Wait till you see how it ties into what was established in issue 7. Hooo boy.

Hi Kurtis,
The coloured sketch by Edgar Tadeo is mine - hope that you like it.
Please feel free to post the image on the Facebook page, but can I ask that you credit Edgar Tadeo for it?
Thanks
Of course! Thanks a lot!

Are there any Rat Queens SDCC items other than cosplayers planned this year ?
Nope. Though Roc will be there. I will not this year.
Also, can I post the coloured cover on the Facebook page, whoever originally posted it?

???
the Nowhere Men disease is spreading
A touch of real life mixed with only two creators on the book. We're doing everything we can to keep this book on time.

I was... kidding...
I'm always the cantankerous poster. Even when sober!
Kurtis, are you going to San Diego this year?
Nope! My lady is due with our first monster baby August 8th and I'm not traveling for a month before or after that date.

And just to let you fuhckers know, I took down all my Rat Queens singles from my online store.
I ain't repeating past mistakes.
Boxes and boxes of first prints and Fiona variants.
Please don't feel screwed by the people buying your books Kurtis...
The day Peter Panzerfaust #1 shipped, I climbed on a soapbox & literally sold hundred of them at cover price or below.
I'm thrilled for all those fans that got them.
Sure some of the slimey / sharkey CGC guys got multiples, & made straight money.
Who cares.
Create.
Never look back.
Look ahead.

Not sure if anyone posted this yet. My favourite cover so far.

Look. I get all this vitriol. I don't know why it's me that gets sole blame here.
Panzerfaust IS happening. We had to take a break because there was NO money in it. How was Tyler supposed to support his family on $300 an issue? I'm making the finale happen by funding it myself. I'm committed to finishing that series.
Pisces was awful life circumstances. Johnnie lost his father and I was in the middle of a legal battle to get a squatter out of my house in Saskatoon.
And Rat Queens has been hell, regardless of its sales. I just need a break from trying to make it work so I can regroup and refocus.
As for Bounty. It's the best thing I've written. And five issues will be done before t even comes out.
Sometimes I'm to blame, but I've had a very run of luck the past two years.
