I don't see why. You explained the situation and provided proof that the sale was canceled on eBay before posting here.

Well it was actually after the fact once it was questioned. I should have posted it up front, but was just hoping it go unoticed. Not because I was trying to hoodoo anyone, simply as not to muddy the waters. The auction was a very strong performer and I still preferred to leave it out   Partially because me trying to do something nice makes me look like a sucker.  My brothers have been relentless lol

It makes sense that peroxide would remove certain defects like dust shadows and tanning. But and this is the important part, since it is a bleaching agent it will affect the hydrogen bonds holding the paper together. The same with the blue light. It is using certain frequencies that will lighten the defects mentioned earlier. Again, we all know the affect even ambient light will have on fading the true colors of the inks used in the printing process. Short term improvements may not outweigh long term damage. Not sure if any long-term studies have been performed on these techniques on paper, but living in Florida I understand fully the affects UV light would have on anything not color fast.

Thank you for your response.  That sucks, there are probably a bunch of potentially damaged comics out there. Good to know. Sounds like stringent testing in in a controlled environment is needed. I hope CGC does or a professional like you does it. Just not sure who would pay you lol

    I got $5 on it!

You’re about 16 years late to the discussion.

If you have time and the inclination I would appreciate and educated opinion on...

There is a book on  that claims, blue light (cover and lage whitening), water cleaning and peroxide (if u rebalance the PH) cleaning can all be done with blue label. These methods supposedly remove foxing, and sundhadows.

Is the book a troll or is the information correct? I can send a link to the book in question if needed.

If water cleaning is okay I'd imagine peroxide is too, just because it breaks down to....

I just can't imagine I see all of this foxing and sunshadows but there is a solution.

That said I'm ignorant, so WTF do I know lol

  4. I should have included all of this in OP.  I new a book like this wouldn't go unnoticed.

To be clear the book was over 12k with  6 days left.  I had to cancel other higher bidders bids to get to hid  bid.

Lovely book...but didn't it sell yesterday on ebay??

    No  and yes.

So I was DM'D from a guy that had a large part of his collection stolen upteen years ago. He enquired where I purchase it (here and I provided other deets). Apparently he bought it back and the sold and wanted it back.

So I actually canceled other people's bids, knocked it down to his top bid +6days left) to be nice. Ended it early and said let highest bidder win.

Well he messaged me.  Didn't have the money after all. I'll post pics

If you feel up to it, I think you would need to start a separate House of Shame nomination thread that includes a poll and a concise outline of the particulars as to why you feel he qualifies for the HOS.

While I don’t think you have have to provide screenshots of ALL your communication (heaven knows we’ve seen enough screenshots of his communication) it would probably help to see screenshots of the key points in the communication, such as the PM discussion with the one user ID where the book is claimed verses the PM thread with the other user ID where he asks about a return months later, as well as of the PayPal dispute and the book being sold on eBay

Some of this has already been provided over the course of this thread but for a HOS nomination it would be helpful to have that all in one place.

Sorry, I know an essay assignment is probably the last thing you feel like.

My few key points are simple.

    I asked  these questions nicely.

How sure what he there was no restoration?

    What was his restoration policy?

would he be willing to accept a return. ?

All of that was in my 1st PM to him to be clear I had  not asked for a return. Just willingness.

He sends a DM, then an email containing

In both of these messages he states I

I am not the purchaser of the book and I am attempting to defraud him

I'm the email he states I gave my .money to someone else.

As a buyer, if a seller  emphatically tell states on 2 separate occasions I was lying and he didn't sell me the book.

    What recourse do I have?

I asked basic policy questions, based

I filed a claim on PP because of his response

He then messages me via DM stating he would cover restoration.

I  tell him I want the book and do not care what CGC grades it as so long as it bad a blue Label I'll be happy

We yammer and eventually come to terms..  for me it was him to state he restoration policy in the Dm and in the PP dispute.  He asked I provide photographic evidence of the

You have to realize whenever something happens like this the person always claims death in family or illness of some sort.  That always raises our antennae.  We've seen it so many times.

current state/condition of the book. He also ask once these completed the dispute be closed.

I send a message in PP that included a pic of book and asked for concurrence of that and his restoration policy.

In this message to him and the PP dispute team I clearly stated once he concurred that the dispute please be closed

I guess he did those things, not sure but 2 days later he elevated the dispute and nominated me for the HOS.

PayPal would have automatically steeped in closed had he just waited a little longer.

That's all I have time for now.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

And when you didn't like the response you initiated a return. So you still think you didn't question the policy?

His response was not detailing me a policy I did not like. His response was to deny selling me a book and tell me i have someone else my money.

So please explain how I didn't like a policy he never defined.

I didnt know his policy when I filed, Had he told me, I never file.

It didn't give you a right to start a return. NONE.

What's my recourse? As soon as he admitted I buyer, my 2nd and 3rd message I ever wrote him stated this. I wanted the book if it came back blue label regardless of if the grade was hurt or not.

Guys yall have to know, they will always side with buyer.  Especially when i stated all he'd was concur with restoration protection. If i wanted a refund I have tried to get it.   I know the buyer gets the refund why I'm sit on funds.  If restoration came back on this book, I can promise my CC anyone's CC will allows a charge back1 year, even more out.

I'm not sure why I am saying this again as I'm sure you can't grasp this, but here I go anyway. You don't get to question a return policy after the stated return policy has ended. It doesn't matter how he responded to you. You lost your chance to ask this question. You waited too long. Its 100% on you. I eagerly await some incomprehensible response.

I did not question the policy. I asked what the policy was. You do understand the difference, correct?  Never once did I question his policy, I asked him t define his policy. Thats it.
