    A very memorable moment for me at the ECCC 3/14
    Lee K gave me a book for Kenneth Rocafort to grace his art on. I did not know much of him but I looked at his big layout of sketches and realized he was outstanding. I handed him Lee's book and pulled one of my blank covers out. They would be ready on the last day. When I picked up mine (and paid for the service) I got a bit teary with this book...Not so much because of the beautiful rendering but more with his humble pride in his eyes. He clearly loves what he does.

    I just got back 60 books from being graded. I am quite excited and felt the need to share this one as I love the Showcase books
    As I get older I get a bit more excited about books that are less appreciated and less known. I find myself gravitating towards 1st appearances and connected story line books. Most all my submissions were 1st appearances or 1st issues and many were graded lower than expected but I am happier to have them encapsulated and ready to put in my 18 by 44 foot comic vault I am having built...Pictures later of the CGC cabinets and room.

    CGC IS MY FRIEND

    Getting tired of seeing You Tube Threads on CGC
    I have submitted more books than most people. I want to be CLEAR. CGC has ALWAYS treated me fairly. I see You Tube videos and make my comments as I deem fit. I get upset when I watch some Comic Collectors Begrudge CGC. WHY? I have proof...I submit more books than most of you reading and even AFTER they came up with the new CGC CASE. If I did have a problem they will fix it. This is a HUGE SHOUT OUT TO CGC AND THE ONES WHOM I HAVE WORKED WITH....YOU ROCK
    STAY TRUE AND REAL>...

    As many know, I love comics but I have gravitated to DC for quite some time. I have more Marvel books both RAW and CGC but I find DC books are a HIT for me. Showcase #4 is the perfect example...It is the Marvel Amazing Fantasy 15...Less graded..... Though I am still in search for a non resto book...RESTO RUINS THE MARKET.I find DC is THE HIDDEN WONDER and the undervalued and WELL deSERVED LEADER IN COMICS.
    I am so happy with this book as it BEATS ANYTHING ELSE I OWN....A TREASURE

    IT is not Religion...It is COMICS
    This has been a long time coming. My life has been changed by a large handful of books. Mad, Marvel, DC, Aircel, Comico, Eclipse, Warp (I loved the Elfquest books), First (that was a doozey)...Ther were more but I must further my mind now.
    When I started submitting my books I realized my grading was VERY off. These were books I read and now I know better.
    Between 1984 and 1988 I got extremely serious. I began buying multiples ( I still do to this day...but now it is VARIANTS). Some multiple books make me giggle and I know why...They were Infinite crossovers or Secret Wars crossovers.
    My point being, I am a fan of COMICS.
    Now, as I have matured, am more interested in undervalued books. DC is now my favorite unless a 9.8 Marvel pops up. I am so intrigued by DC books and the composition of the covers.
    As for me, I will always stick with CGC to grade as this is a standard for which I can contain my CONTENT...I am so happy as well that they are getting NEW SLABS and CHEERS TO COLLECTING

    FRIENDSHIP BUILDS

    TNERB was the first person I reached out to. Birthday book
    The first person I reached out to one I first started this CGC business was Tnerb. Spell it backwards....you might ask him why it is important. My collecting goes back to MAD books when I was 8. It was not so much collecting but when, in 1976, we moved to Reno and I met a friend who had a father that was a doctor. He showed me a Silver Surfer 1 and Iron Man 1. He got them from his fathers money but I fell in love with the thread of yearning. He told me about a comic shop 8 miles away (perhaps 5 miles) and in 1983 I became a master of cool ecting. I became more COOL as I continued but my younger brother read my books (dropped them down a few grades) and he still owes me for low grades (Oops, that was between us). Even so....getting back To LEE
    This man responded to me and I sent him a big batch of books because I loved his posts.
    I sent them to his fathers home and we have sealed the deal ever since
    I have connected with many wonderful people through this man and now that he is married I can throw out a YOU ARE WECOME AS WELL AS I AM
    The way I look at it is that I have met, in this community, some of the finest humans ever. I found this raw book for Tnerb and he is loving his birthday books. This is a key to the date of his Birthday and I find I take pride in listening to my friends.....ENJOY

    AVENGERS 1

    JUSTICE LEAGUE
    The most unique Stanley Lieber (Stan Lee) book is Silver Surfer. I would love to eventually get a higher grade in this BUT JLA is where it all began as a team. I am a HUGE fan of comics and the ATLAS books are so unerated...AS WELL AS DC.
    Although I love the Avengers I have to give JLA a boost for starting a Super Team.

    He was my highlight. There were not many old school artists present. Stanley, Neal Adams Kurt Busiek and Mike Mignola were the only ones from my old days. This man does not do comics but he is so humble and AWESOME. He had a gig as well. I bought his newest book and Surfer checked it out first while we drove back for Tnerbs "bachelor" party...SHAMAN...What? Great times and enjoy this man...he is truly one of a kind....oh...BTW I got 12 Stanley books (HE WROTE) signed at ECCC...thanks to awesome friends

    I have always been a Frazetta fan for I was into Dungeons and dragons. I have been scanning all my books and finding gems, multiples and getting organized. it feels great and Sensei...I am nearly to my walking Dead books.
    I bought this a while back. As far as collecting, if this was a 9.8 I would have passed it up. I saw this 9.9 and became that kid playing D and D and got overwhelmed with vorpel power.

    THANOS VS. DARSEID

    I am a big Kirky fan and I want to share what I feel.
    I am a FAN of COMICS. I bend more to Marvel but I appreciate DC in a more reverent way. I feel Thanos is a sort of copy of Darkseid.     I just got these back from sending to Kahalo for 3 Neal Adams and 7 Denny O'Neil signatures. The Kamandi is the only 9.8 and it is SS
    First off, I must say, Kahalo you are a very cool human. I am reluctant to call friends "friends" but you are among them.
    What I love about this site is that I have been so welcomed to send books to certain individuals for SS cons I would not attend. Kahalos self interest was never there....Very Cool.

    I have always been a #1 issue or first appearance collector. I have since come to an epiphany that Showcase fits.

    Just seeing David get a sketch from Silvani (?) for his wife was enough to make your heart overflow with falling leaves...How he constantly looked at his commission with admiration was a treat. GREAT FOLKS HERE. CGC was, as usual, OUTSTANDING....MIKE...YOU MAKE ME HAPPY and I am the Dude with a bit of Zack..haha.
    I will write more but for now...gotta get to bed for tomorrow.
    Let us continue to surf within the beauty that is simple in riding waves.
    PS...that Lee K guy messes with me....can someone step on his foot?

    One of those books that just make me cringe with artistic awesomeness
    I love 3-D books. I loved the movies in the day wearing the uncomfortable glasses. I just got this back from CGC and it is a very unique book. I have my own thoughts on Kirby and Simon. I feel they are primarily of the DC make. Kirby did his best sense of freedom in DC, in my opinion. Ditko? WOW...his 3rd book he worked on.
    Pass on the indulgences and pass the drink for beginnings....

    The DC silver age set just posted and I see books from the early to mid fifties in there. The Marvel Silver is contained within 1965 to 1969. Avengers #4 in 1964 is considered an SA of Captain America
    Perhaps a 10 group cover price
    a 12 group, 15 etc...
    The only downfall would be the giant sized but from the era in which it was written would determine if it is a 12 or 15.I have looked it up and still have questions. Can anyone add to this formula so we might get a better understanding of what Silver Age is? If DC is correct then ASM #1 FF #1, Hulk #1, Daredevil, X-Men etc would be considered in this vein of SILVER Pehaps the price on the book should detemine the AGE.I do not think Marvel has any Golden issues as far as FF and the likeFF, ASM and Hulk are 10Daredevil is 12 here is the WIKI which I do not agree withhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Age_of_Comic_BooksTo see old comments for this Journal entry, click here.     My father read books as a child. He was into DC and also Turok. This book I found a few years ago for the purpose of CGCing the book. He was born in October 1946. I will get this framed before sending it to him for his belated birthday. I think the cover is Very well crafted and to the point.
    Now to find a great representation of my mother for her birthday coming upA gift as this is more important for the sentiment than the grade itself.     Tough book and Black. This is a DC Fandom
    I have done quite a bit of research on this book and it it likened to any rare Marvel that can even come close....Let's see what rare Marvels can compare to this Gem??

    I was a big Comico fan in the day. His Eisner Award. This is an interesting book.
    I am planning on Art Adams to give this an SS at ECCC and, though ironic, gifted him the Eisner Award for this book with some battles later...interesting...Either way I hope he doesn't rip the book when I ask him to sign it

    I picked this up for my brother (I am giving it a 9.4). I did a little research and there is a mention of Wolverine with drawings by Andy Olsen(?) and it says below WOLVERINE and later the next year... Incredible Hulk #180. We all know that mention. This is a Steranko cover and he is the Editor for the first 4 issues that were mail order only.
    Can anybody add to this spread on information about Wolverine in this book? If this is unknown and true then this book is a gem.

    I have 7 of these books. 2 are worthy of 9.8
    A Bill Sienkiewicz cover, Arthur Adams frontpiece, Chris Claremont writing Another ECCC Richard Starkings and Austin and Capullo
    I dont know if this will be in the Sienk. set but it will if not yet....
    Overall, 3 ECCC sigs in March and hoping for Bill again
    I was a big collector of Bill Sienkiewicz in the 80s and I grabbed at least 3 books when I knew he was involved (in most cases). Another book in waiting for the right moment to get sigs and a very cool book envisioned to SS this con in March
