  1. A mycomicshop kudos thread. I've ordered from them several times and have never been disappointed. They package everything very securely and ship promptly.
  2. I see what you're saying, but there are variations on the handwriting on differing books which indicates more than one person is scripting them. On some of those books the "t" is crossed normally, clearly "Int". Just like the Larson collection, where three(?) different employees wrote on the books ("L. Larson", "Larson", "Lamont", etc.), the same appears likely here (i.e., more than one individual handling the books). Perhaps one of the individuals abbreviated "Inl" for international (instead of "Int")? I looked at the two examples from Cat and thought the last letter was an "L". Are there more examples that show the last letter as a "T"?
  3. Is it possible that these books were on the newsstand in July 1944?
  4. Correct Thought so. The "deep black" on the Atlas books of that time period really come through even on just the scan. The shininess (for lack of better word) of that copy must be something else in person. Atlas comics were printed in different ways at different points in time. That book has a black with a matte finish while the other colors are glossy. It makes for a very striking contrast. You can better express what I meant than I was able to. Thanks! There are some Horror books circa that period that I believe received the same treatment. It's really effective. Reminds me of the effect of the metallic ink on some early GA books. That contrast really jumps out compared to all other books surrounding them. Those are cool looking books as well. Here's a book that has the flat black with higher gloss colors.
  5. It's absolutely "one" of my favorite early Ghosts covers (it's hard to hate any of them)....my 9.8 from bobcat.enterprises back on eBay was a very nice (and hard fought) victory....QP is near perfect too. Ghosts #111 CGC 9.8 White Pages That's a truly amazing copy Sterling! One of the best out there! That's a stunning copy of a very cool cover Sterling.
  6. I couldn't agree more. I would love to have this book from the Burroughs estate.
  7. yeah, it's a cool cover, but not one of the all time PCH classics IMHO. For me It's Crypt of Terror #17. I need this book for my EC collection and it can get pricey in higher grades. I know it's a key issue, but it is one of my least favorite EC covers. .....get a coverless copy GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) I may just get a VG-F and call it DONE.

  9. RM would like to find a #19 while you and I are looking for a #9.
  10. Yeah, that's pretty unreal. It's a tough book, but not THAT tough. Then again, nothing should surprise me anymore with the market the way it is. That was my thought, too. But I guess maybe there hasn't been one for sale for a while and two people decided to really go after it. HA's raws can sometimes be a bit iffy, so I hope the book actually doesn't have any hidden problems. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the classic LB Cole books (Mask, Suspense, Gerber sci-fi no shows, etc.,.) show up in waves...one year you might see 4 - 5 copies on the market, then nothing for a while. The Heritage Sunday auctions used to be better in terms of pricing, and grading of their raw books/lots. I used to be able to find some good deals on raw books, but the grading is hit or miss these days, and with strong prices it's mostly not worth even trying anymore. What was the ending price?
  11. I picked up a few Ghosts comics from Nick. Packing was great and shipping fast. All were as described, if not better.
  12. It's not koala bears. get your facts straight. It's dingoes. ...and the kangaroo test for SCS.
  13. My drool cup just overflowed. Oh yeah, that is fantastic! Well done! +1 What a display! Gabe, Of the 64 books on display, how many are top census books?
  14. Here's a new one from the little town of Bethlehem.
  15. If you were going to pick only one book to own by Cole, this might be it! It's definitely up there. Not just as a great Cole cover, but as a great GA cover by anyone, imo. Great book! Congrats.
  16. Keep 'em coming Gabe. Were there any L.B.Cole covers in the collection?
