  1. I want to throw my hat into the ring on this Copper Age! Bought out all the store stock from a dealer who had a store during the 70's and 80's.

This doesn't even scractch the surface on the rest I didn't photogragh. The few sent to CGC have all are returned 9.8 and White pages. Here's a few more that will keep CGC busy. This stuff was never circulated or sold and have been stored for 20 to 30 years.

There are the same multiples ( nearly 50 each of Nova #1, Star Wars #1 and yes, Hulk #271. Mostly Newsstand and Canadian Editions ) About 28,000 comics in all, perfectly preserved.

Pictures like this make me sad. I haven't been able to find a Nova #1 anywhere especially not in this good of condition. Same with X-Factor's (I at least snagged copies of these in VF grade at a reasonable price) and Teen Titans. And I really don't want to go on ebay to pay the going rate when everyone talks about the gems to be found. Guess I'm just hitting the wrong LCSs

  2. Just a heads up to the modern folks (even though this is really bronze and pre-bronze info.):

Saw sneaky shots of post-credit scenes for Wolverine #2 movie....Jean Grey as Phoenix poppin up outta nowhwere....teasing Days of Future Past.

So you've obviously got the DOFP issue to BOLO for, but first app. Phoenix (X-men 101) & first app. Sentinels (X-men 14) to be huntin' down like dogs.

Of course first app. Wolverine is always popular in Hulk 181 (duh).

Now back to your regularly scheduled moderns.

X-men 101 is already hard/expensive to find in high grade :P

    ...14 too ...

Heads up! X-Men #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #1 are both books that might perform well in the future.

Now back to your regular modern age thread.

hehe, I tease, I tease. :foryou:

    Thanks for the tip!

    The 90's one's, right???

Seriously though, it's weird, like I always thought older X-Men, Avengers, etc. were worth a pretty penny. Didn't realize that most of it is actually very affordable considering the age, significance of the issues, etc etc.

Its kind of weird but X-Men especially seems to have had a ton of filler stuff. Hell it was just reprinting old issues for awhile. So if it wasn't a first appearance of a key character a lot of that stuff is cheap. I'm kind of shocked some of the Avengers stuff hasn't jumped up though especially after the success of the movie.

  3. In all honesty, and I mean no disrespect, it isn't going to matter a hill of beans. This is old news to speculators once the news broke and people would be happy to get their $1 back out of the issues they pulled out of bins.

i see nothing wrong with speculating on early appearances which can be found really cheap. there just arent that many, the group didnt appear that often. when the adaptation was first announced sets of sunfire and bh6 sold for pretty good money and so did alpha 17, i dont think a lot of people even knew about 16 or thunderbolts 25 . if they had those books would have sold well too. i agree that cartoon adaptations dont usually mean much for related comics but because its disney i think its worth considering these comics

Well there's a couple recent sales of Alpha Flight 17 for $8-20 raw for what its worth. I haven't seen any 16s going for more money yet.

Edit: realized one of the sales I saw had all of Sunfire + Big Hero 6 too

  4. I remember around the time the aliens vs predator movies came out I found a bunch of aliens vs predator books in the .50 bin and put them up on ebay and people went nuts out bidding each other. Some of them ended up selling for hundreds. Then people came to thier senses when it was time to pay. Sometimes people get in the heat of the moment and just want to win no matter what. It just sucks when they dont honor thier bid. Its even more common now that there are not negatives for bidders anymore.

Anyway, my point is that sometimes a crazy price is legit, but that doesnt mean its getting paid for.

Couldnt agree more - I HATE that there is nothing that happens to bidders. Such a stupid policy.

I don't even get how the logic of that went. Its not like you can go into an auction house and bid up something then not pay. Ebay should be automatic immediate payment or it goes to the next highest bidder.

  5. I thought it was an good, not great movie. Better than Iron Man 2, worse than 1. There were probably a little too much quipping and joking, but that's kind of how Robert Downey Jr has played Tony in all the movies. Plus, Tony (movies) uses humor/sarcasm as a defense mechanism/way to keep people at a distance and they put him in a dark place so it was sort of to be expected. I've never read the much Iron Man on its own so the twist didn't ruin it for me, but I was sorta excited for the classic version so that was a little disappointing.

    Professor X???

    You read my mind.

I think though that they couldn't decide on whether they wanted a light-hearted movie, or a dark movie, and it kind of came out as :whee::devil: a jumble of both.

I wish, telepathy would be cool minus the balding but alas just a fellow Marvel movie fan. I try and enjoy the Marvel cinema-verse as a stand alone because expecting it to conform to the comics seems unreasonable. I'm usually more annoyed when they try to make the comics conform to the movies than vice versa. For instance, classic Nick Fury owns Jr.

I think most people just wanted something as good or better than Avengers and anything less was gonna be a disappointment. If you look at the movie on its own, I'd say it was good and it wrapped up the trilogy nicely.

  7.

I always really enjoy the list Larry but I'm wondering how come you're still pumping East of West as a rock solid $10 the week of debut. Seems there's still a ton of inventory out there. Also, Helheim just isn't selling for $8 right now at least on the bay

  8. Uber #0 @ $11+ & 3 bids.

    New X-Men #128 @ $15+ & 4 bids. Still hot.

    Chew #8 @ $20 & 22 bids. Who does not love Poyo?

Invincible #3 @ $20+ & 3 bids. The series is back on the hot seat.

Star Wars #1 Gamestop Variant @ $27+ 3 bids. Cooled off considerably from the $75 high but still a good book if you need to spend some points at their stores.

Amazing Spider-Man #700 Ditko Variant @ $105+ & 7 bids. meh, I think the actual artwork used on AF #15 was better.

For some reason you links never work for me. :(

    Same

  9. I've been hearing rumors that Darkhawk #1 CGC 9.8 has been on the rise for the past 6 weeks. Including some private pm sells of the book here on these forums. hm

eBay Darkhaw #1 CGC 9.8 completed auctions

I've noticed this as well. I apologize for my ignorance, but is there any reason for it? Did Avengers Arena really cause that jump?

I would imagine it was because he was a big player in some of Marvel's recent cosmic stuff. People are probably speculating he could make the jump to the movies. Much like they are with Ms. Marvel.

Unless you are seeing similar stuff with the Runaways or 1st appearances of Avengers Academy kids I doubt it has anything to do with Arena

  10. Mark Millar's Secret Service supposedly being made into a film. Time to update the ebay listing

    http://m.uk.ign.com/articles/2013/03/28/fox-takes-matthew-vaughn-and-mark-millars-secret-service?

So is Super Crooks with Bradley Cooper. So is Nemesis. It's Mark Millar.

God I hope Nemesis gets made.

I kind of liked Nemesis. It was like evil Batman vs a young cocky Jim Gordon. I feel like Nemesis is gonna be tougher to translate though. Its kind of ultra violent. I sorta feel like deadpool will get made first and if that does well then we'll see Nemesis.
