  1. Thought about reading this during my Legion Anniversary reading, but wasn't sure whether it would work without having read Final Crisis or the DC universe in general around that time period. You have any thoughts on the matter?
  2. I didn't pick this title up, but all those Linsner covers came damn close to getting me to.
  3. This really was great, wasn't it? Very fun, despite how it ends up.
  4. Oooo, I forgot all about this title when I was looking for JMS reads. Although searching my purchase files show me ordering issues 1,2,3 and 5...... (ooops)
  5. One of the best. Hard to find a bad Busiek book, to be truthful.
  6. Been a while since my last update. Here's how I finished out the year: Invincible 85-90 Continuing to enjoy this title that I've been reading with my daughter. ASM 290-292 Web of Spider-Man 29-30 With these issues, I believe I caught up to the point I started regularly following the Spider-Man titles back in the 1980s. Superman earth One 1-3 J. Michael Straczynski's take on the Superman story, some good stuff, as is usual with JMS. Legion of Super-Heroes 284-296, Ann 1,3 With Keith Giffen's death and all the tributes mentioning it, I decided to reread The Great Darkness Saga. Some great stuff there, he will be missed. Ms Tree Vol 3 (issue 9) Ms Tree Vol 4 : Deadline (10-17) Picked back up with this title since Vol 5 has now been released. Max Allan Collins does some great work with this detective title, highly recommended if you go for that sort of thing. Order and Outrage 1-4 Jim Starlin's latest cosmic epic gets off to a good start. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Danger Street 1-12 Bring back a number of obscure characters (and some not so obscure), mix in a little story, and some snappy dialogue, and you get a decent series. Maskerade 5-8 Kevin Smith managed to píss me off with the first "4 part series" by not providing even a little bit of an ending; decided to give him 4 more issues to take care of things, and he did a decent job of it. Plot Holes 1-5 Clever premise with a good execution (not always the case) made for an enjoyable series. I'd read more of this crew and the setup, if it came out. Dark Knights of Steel 1-12 DKoS Tales from the Three Kingdoms Back in the day this would have been called an Elseworlds, bring some familiar faces into a different situation and see what happens. Pretty good job with this one, although I'm kinda mad that I didn't figure out what was going on sooner (figured out the basics, but not the particulars until way later than I should). Recommended for the DC Comics fan. So, looks like my final tally is .... 1033 issues for the year. So as far as the thread goes, that makes it But for my personal goal of 1500 this year, a little bit See you in next year's thread!
  7. In the case of your first two examples (Barbalien and Shapesmith), I believe the answer is found in your third example. That is to say, the first two are takeoffs/homages to the third, so of course they shape-shift.
  8. What ever would have prompted you to expect less than what this gives you???
  9. So sad to read, I will miss the Frank Zappa man posting. Now who's going to tell someone to "go fist yourself" when they need it? So it goes.
  10. That's pretty much all the time.
  11. While I don't disagree with a lot of the criticism of Mile High, one thing people around here don't seem to recognize is that he's got a pretty large selection of (relatively) inexpensive comics available. As mentioned earlier, the website is awful to navigate, but he appears to have a minimum of around 20,000 individual issue numbers available at under $5, so under $2 with the frequent "codeword" sales.
  12. According to his website, his NICE subscription service is still up and running. https://www.milehighcomics.com/nice/index.html
  13. That's what it sounded like to me - going only off of what was said here and was not disputed.
  14. You apparently missed the bolded part below when I first responded:
  15. Not disputing that it happens, just that whether your example really shows anything in regards to the particular item being discussed. Do you really think my spending $4 for a loaf of bread that I could get for $3 elsewhere because I didn't want to make another stop says anything at all about whether I'd be willing to spend $600 on a cell phone that regularly sells for $100? I did not, because I haven't the least bit of interest in the subject of John Carter or whatever the director/studio/actors/AMC theaters might have done with it.
  16. Hey, he only goes after the message, not the messenger. He said so himself.
  17. I don't really have an opinion on the overall topic, but I'm not sure presenting an instance of "wasting" a million dollars to keep the rights really does much to address the idea of whether someone would blow things up on a $626 million dollar project with no return.
  18. You've already used that card once. Now it's your turn to admit you were wrong in one of our discussions. I've been waiting for over 2 years and you know where to find me. I'm sure what "used that card once" means; I just figured that with as many times as you have claimed to admit it when you are wrong this would have been the perfect opportunity to have done so, and I must have missed it. As for me in discussions with you, I'll be happy to do so if it ever happens.
  19. Where's that famous Roy "looks like I was wrong" statement we've heard so much about?
  20. I didn't miss anything, I just thought I'd post the video for those either too young to know about it, or those (like me) too old to remember it. Frankly, I didn't know it "ruined his career" or that you and @Prince Namor were talking about the same incident. So maybe I did miss something.
  21. People are against that? I must have missed it, I don't know why anyone would oppose that. Most of what I've seen people (including me) object to is the idea of having what some called "complete ignore" by which they meant that if they ignored someone, that person was also blocked from seeing their posts. Basically making someone else ignore them.
  22. His career was ruined by a really unfortunate dance he did in the 'Rock Me Tonight' video. (The comments are brutal)
  23. No one who ever says that is 'done' with the discussion. Never has a truer thing been said on the internet. It's also something that lots of people don't seem to understand. Make a public statement, expect for there to be a response.
