Picked up a small SA collection last week, I apologize for the bad pics
Not too small! That looks like an awesome collection. Congrats

How do you guys think the movie will impact the price of this comic as the date approaches?
-
Have to say, not a huge fan of how the turtles look there. Something just looks wrong

Good to know that he wasn't purposefully deceiving anyone. Or maybe he was trying to save face once he figured he was caught

Ript Apparel is offering another great 'parody' or 'homage' design for one day only...
Somehow these sites are allowed to do this. Saw this design and thought I would bump it for discussion.
This was titled "These are NOT the droids you were looking for"
Really cool to see someone else supporting this site. I haven't met anyone else that goes there, but it's a nice site. I would like to see some more artistic shirts there like they used to do

Where is CGC in their strictness right now? Do you see them easing up/cracking down anytime soon?
-
I thought they were the same, and he just took the framed ones out for the picture?

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm super happy with my book and all the support I'm getting here. Glad to be part of the club!

The pages were darker than normal on that book day one
That's nice to hear. I guess I'm just looking for something wrong with a large purchase just to be careful. Any thoughts on pressing?
-
Just got my comic today!! I am a little worried that the case was tampered with, because the book inside does not seem like it has white pages and the the case does not seem extremely secure, though this may be because I have never owned a modern blue slab. Could this account for the difference? Is there anything I should check for to see if the case has been tampered with? I am just scared that I dropped $2000 on a counterfeit.
Also, does anyone see potential in pressing this book after it's signed by eastman?

I am thinking of getting my CGC 7.5 signed by eastman and hopefully laird as well. Do you guys have any thoughts on whether this would be worth it, or this really just personal preference?

I am not sure if this has been brought up before in this 500 page thread, but every time I look through the golden age forum, I am shocked to find what I read to be an interest request for a comic book forum

My assumption that SC4 is undervalued is based on its scarcity and significance. Not any other books value. Also, GPA can let you know if something is undervalued or overvalued in some scenarios. If you're trying to make a private deal on a book that hasn't had a recorded sale in grade for X amount of years but all of the grades under it are trending upward. I think it's safe to say if the asking price is close to its outdated recorded sale, it's undervalued.
I was going by gpa . ff138k ih1 30k sc4 25.5k. Sc4 is strong considering its circumstances. Still undervalued.
Nice pick up. Interesting points and should be a sound investment. Overall in 8.0 for the sa I think it's still 1. Af15 2. Ff 1 3. Ih 1 4. Sc 4, hulk has a good chance of taking a clear cut lead on ff 1 sometime soon though. Also, I think iron man has been marvels top seller, even dominating spideycongrats man, I guess you wwent for the hulk over the SC4?!Thanks! And besides that Investment Comics article here were my other reasons:
My reasons were:
1. I just don't have faith in WB/DC when it comes to doing a live action Flash movie. They will have only released 1 movie in 2.5 years with MOS being the last, and then there is no guarantee a Flash movie will drop in 2016.
2. Hulk is a Taurus like me! We are both born in the month of May, so I feel a connection with the character just like Batman (Taurus also).
3. I don't feel Flash will ever rise to the marketability or popularity of the Hulk. Besides Spidey, the Hulk is Marvels next most popular character.
4. Even though the Showcase #4 is the rarer book in high grade, IH #1 is still rare in a high grade in its own right. And there being only 4 pedigree IH #1's kind of makes up for that.
5. This is currently the 2nd most valuable SA book on the market, right behind AF #15. Showcase #4 may be 4th or 5th.
6. The majority of my collection is DC, so I wanted to add the mega key Marvel comic book to my collection to give it some diversity.
Nice list my friend! IH #1 in an 8.0 has already surpassed FF #1 according to the 2013 Overstreet! The IH #1 value is $30K and the FF #1 is $27K. I don't have the recent sale stats according to GPA for that grade.
Yeah, I think the TOS #39 has gotten a big boost from the movies recently! Iron Man is no longer considered a 'B' tier character! A nice copy is still very affordable.
Your statement that SC4 is undervalued is based on the assumption that it should be valued the same as the other comics. Otherwise the numbers on GPA really have no bearing on whether a book is undervalued or overvalued.
I misunderstood your point about undervaluing because it came directly after your citation of GPA comics without any other explanation. My bad.
As for you explanation of GPA undervaluing, I wouldn't call the comic undervalued, I would just say that GPA idoesn't hav enough data to show the current value of the comic.

got this for $20 at a thrift-sale.
Great condition carts as well.
Nice pickup! Video games are so easy to resell on eBay and super simple to throw into a bubble mailer to ship.
I hope he doesn't sell them. These are great games!

All I ever find at yardsales and flea markets is old sheet music.
-
Thanks !.....You can't believe the stuff I am going through ! - Runs of Adventure Comics, X Men, Superboys.....just great books !
Nice finds...it's strange that someone would sell these on craiglists, he must have known about the keys?
Can you give us a ballpark of what you snagged this at...?
-
I found this original owner collection from a 60 yr. old guy on Craig's List.
I wasn't prepared what he brought to our meet up today. Two long boxes filled with Silver Age DCs and Bronze X Mens....
There were also Copper Age keys like Dark Knight Returns 1-4, Watchmen, Wolverine 1-4 Mini series, Miller run of DD and New Mutants.
I am now in the process of scanning and grading and it will ALL BE FOR SALE !...Included are Flash 129, 137, 139, Green Lantern 22, 59, Hulk 102, 181, Brave and Bold 54, Teen Titans 1, Showcase 59, Hawk and Dove 1, Showcase 73, 75....
My head is literally spinning from this incredible find.
Here's just a small handful of the books
So jealous. Awesome pick up

I don't want to be completely speculative about the seller, but it seemed like they were expecting something bigger. They posted on their ad that they did not want to end the auction early, presumably because they thought the auction would bring a larger amount than many buyers would guess.

As some of you know, a buddy & I self-published a little short story called "The Ghost of Kareema-Lou". We handed them out for free at Heroes Con (and to anyone here who wanted one). I figured since I was at HC, and CGC was at HC, why not sub a few for signature series? It wasn't something we had really planned, so most of the copies were in rough (to us collectors, anyway) shape. We'd been carrying them around in backpacks and laptop bags all day, un-bagged and un-boarded...not to mention we had the darn things printed up at Kinko's, and then folded & stapled them ourselves in the hotel room the night before the con.
Our professional comic book creation station.
So, after a full day of wandering around the con, we hit up the CGC booth when they didn't look very busy (what was NOT the case when I had checked earlier...man, they were working like crazy!). We dumped out the copies we still had on hand and I did a quick spot check for major defects, then we picked out six, signed them, and handed 'em over..
I got them back today and couldn't be happier. The grades are only part of it, but what grades! Remember, these were hand-folded & stapled in a hotel room, then lugged around loose in bags during a con. I was expecting 7.5s, maybe.
So the grades were an unexpected surprise. But, to have in my hands a slabbed book that I wrote almost gives me goosebumps. I know that any yahoo can make a comic and get it slabbed, but by golly, this one is mine! That's MY name on the yellow label
We (Golden Hour Comics) are behind on launching "When Hell is Full", but it's coming...and having a slabbed book with my name on it next to my monitor, well, that's one hell of an impetus to shake a freakin' leg!
That is so amazing. Congrats on the comic and recognition by CGC!

I was actually asking because of that listing. It went for a bit below GPA, so I thought that $1080 was a reasonable price. I was beating myself when I saw that I was outbid at the last moment from $1000

Do you think Captain America 1 could ever reach a level close to that of tec 27 or action 1? Do you have one in your collection?
-
Does anyone have any thoughts about FMV for CGC 5.5 TMNT 1? I found it interest that the GPA for this book seemed proportionately higher for its grade when compared to the price spread of other comics. Might that be because this comic is rare and difficult to find in any grade, so people are happy to settle for a lower grade?

I made a 4 figure cash/comic trade with Sauce Dog, and he was wonderful to deal with. Would definitely recommend.
