  1. recently purchased a very nice Bat's statue from Dave....What can I say that hasn't already been said??...Excellent communication. Easy to work with.... Truly an asset to the CGC boards. I will watch closely for future sales threads of Mr. Hulksdaddy.....

  2. Purchased a "Joker" #6 from Adrian....Could not be any happier with this deal. I placed a WTB thread for any high grade jokers back in April and he responded that he had a 9.6 #6 "somewhere" and would look for it and get back with me.

The book wasn't where it was supposed to be but he said he knew he still had it. He locates it several months later and did not forget about me. Most guys would have blown it off but he got back with me to let me know he found it and the deal was immediately done.

I really appreciate the fact that Adrian did not give up on the deal and his packaging is "BULLET PROOF"

I will be watching his sales threads in the future.

  3. Hello Boardies....tonight I'm as heart broken as I can be and I come to you guys with a situation I hope someone can help me with.

I received one of my first statues today in the mail...picked it up on the way to work and had to sit through 12 hrs of work chomping at the bit waiting to come home and get to it.

It is the Bowen "Mighty Thor STRIKE DOWN" version. I assembled the parts and placed it on the top of my display cabinet and yelled for the wife to come give me her opinon. She asked if it would fit on the second level and as I went to place it, the head came off and hit the floor....breaking the wing tip off his helmet. My heart stopped !!!

Is there a replacement to be had out there? If so where do I begin?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  4. The Kudos thread, in my humble opinion, is a useful tools for those of us that buy and sell one these boards. It give folks a small insight into the type of person we are considering entering into a business agreement with.

Therefore, again in my humble opinion, this is the best place I can think of to leave my impression of "HarveySwick"

Being a noob that I am, I am hesitant to respond and open myself up to attacks by the more knowledgeable and experienced boardies.

But I have yet to see HarveySwick slam a boardie or lambaste them just because he can. And here this past week he and ITSJUSTRYAN (another well respected board member organized and ran a charity drive that garnered close to $2,000 for a casual acquaintance that they had learned had fallen on hard times.

He helped start, participated in, and finished this campaign with the help of Ryan and anonymously delivered the donations with no thought of personal glory or gain.

I have yet to meet either of these gentlemen, but I look forward to a day when I may. Next to the brave men and women who defend our country and those that keep us safe here at home as well, this is what I think of when I use the term "hero".

    KUDOS MR SWICK !!!!!!!

  5. Purchased a 9 book set from Patrick recently and it was one of the smoothest transactions for me to date. Very well packaged, arrived on time as promised.

Patrick showed an aspect of professionalism that I, myself, would hope to strive for as seller (if I ever sold anything from my collection)

I will be watching for the "pickycollector" name on any sales thread from now on.

  6. Somehow I missed this post, but I have already made 3 purchases, 2 that have gotten delivered flawlessly, so I'm a disabled Veteran how enjoys comics for reading and art value, needless to say these boards are some of the most amazing guys ever, thanks for the warm welcome to the board you guys rock and I hope to be helpful and make my slab collections grow.

Thank you for your service to the Country BTW

  7. hm seems to be a lot of people moving up the WD registry.

Even a few back and forth battles. Anyone have a boat load getting graded?

Any interest in a WD Tribute cover set? Or a WD foreign set with all the foreign prints? A magazine set? hm crazy completest set with all of the above.

I've been thinking about a #1 Cover tribute set....does any one have a list of all the Titles to look for?

  8. Spider-dan

I'll ask for the forth time. Did CGC Miss the --

    Plitch

    You want answers?

    Spider-dan

I think I'm entitled to them.

    Plitch

    You want answers?!

    Spider-dan

    I want the truth.

    Plitch

    You can't handle the truth!

    (continuing)

Son, we live in a world that has comics. And those comics have to be graded by men with skills. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Ares? I have a greater responsibility than You can possibly fathom. You weep for Jim 83 and you curse our skills. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: That making rare errors, while tragic, probably saved the book from PGX.

And a mistake, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saved a collection.

    (beat)

You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at conventions and forum, you want us there at CGC. You need us there.

    (boasting)

We use words like Trim, color Touch, Restoration... we use these words as the backbone to a life spent grading books. You use 'em as a punchline.

    (beat)

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very grading I provide, then questions the manner in which we provide it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a UV light & grade a book. Either way, don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.

    Spider-dan

Did CGC make a mistake on the trim?

    Plitch

    (beat)

We did the job we were hired to do.

    Spider-dan

Did CGC make a mistake on the trim?

    Plitch

    You're right we did.

Silence. From everyone. Ares, comicWiz, the Peanut Gallery

they're all frozen. CGCmod0 and AlexH are likewise. Spider-Dan seems strangely, Quietly relieved. Ares simply takes control of the room now.

    Ares

Please the court, I suggest the Kangaroo Court be dismissed so that we can move to an immediate Article 39a Session. CGC has rights

Although I'm not completely finished reading this thread (112 pages into the 181 or so) I wanted to comment that this ....this is some funny stuff right here !!! I don't care who you are, you have to admit... this was good !!!

    :roflmao:

  9. Hello everyone, my name is Gary...all my friends call me flip. I've been a CGC member for a couple years now and I have always enjoyed the boards, although I do admit that I have been intimidated by the wealth of knowledge some of you guys have on the topics of comic books and collecting.

Like 90% of the folks on here I read comics as a child in the mid 70's. But I read "Uncle Scrooge" and "Scooby Doo" and "Richie Rich". I never really considered it collecting. I just had a large box of comics. As a matter of fact, when I went away to the Air Force in 88 my mother called me and said she was cleaning out closets and came across my box...A gentleman she worked with collected comics and was wondering if I minded if she gave them to him to which I readily agreed.

Fast forward 20 years later, my son and I start watching "The Walking Dead" He tells me that it started out as a comic book and I suggest we compare the story lines. That was all it took. Now I'm working on my own comic book room...(his old bedroom) and we have the complete DEAD run in 9.8...I concentrate on Silver Surfer, The Joker, Batman, Superman, and Daredevil and a few select keys.

I appreciate all the information y'all have provided to me and look forward to many more hours in front of the screen.

  10. Hello Fellow hobbyists.....My name is Gary and I'm 44....I collected when I was a child (like most of us out there) however when I joined the Air Force in '88 my mother decided she needed my closet space and GAVE AWAY 3 short boxes of early Daredevil, AMS, and Richie Rich gems.

I didn't purchase another comic until my son turned 8 and we went to a local shop and I got re-hooked and my boy jumped in head first with me.

I collect Daredevil, ASM, Batman, Silver Surfer and TWD.

I enjoy the hobby and love reading the stories....my friends call me FLIP and INCO was the name of the company I work for until they sold out... thus INCOFLIP was born.

you can see me on the "What do you look like" thread and the "comic tattoo" thread.
