  1. Candletric: Thanks for the link to read C&D 50!

I don't usually get involved in comic arguments, but I do want to point out that on page 3 of C&D 50, Deadpool calls the symbiotes 'Venom look-a-likes'. That would mean that C&D 50 is not the 1st appearance of Venompool but is the 1st Deadpool covered in a symbiote that resembles Venom.

    Correct?

  2. Which fairly recent first appearance will become the hottest

    1- Jessica Cruz (Lantern)

    2- Alpha (walking dead)

    3- Duke Thomas (robin/batman)

    4- Grail (justice league)

    1. Grail (long term)

    2. Duke Thomas (heat is just getting started)

    3. Jessica Cruz (will be interesting to see what Marvel does with her)

    4. Alpha (is not Negan, short term heat (but I could absolutely be wrong ))

  3. As someone who has put their time into reading the RQ books and money into buying the same RQ books (TPBs, multiple floppies and a CGC 9.8 slabbed #1), I am just glad to hear it's on hiatus.

Thank you Kurtis for clearing the issues up and sorry to hear about your run of bad luck!

While I do see some of the 'vitriol' that has been stated, most of us still seem to be pro-Image/Weibe.

As fans, we love the books. As fans, we hate the delays. You brought good news (that it's only on hiatus) and bad news (that it's on hiatus). True RQ fans will still be here when it starts again, just as PP fans look forward to that next issue.

    Keep on keepin' on.

  4. There are two types of books at shows I look for

The ones everyone else is looking for and the ones I know I can make money that no one looks at

Plenty of books are available after the door opens

I look for the desperate dealers at the end of the last day, and toss out cash money lowballs left and right.

Do you want to carry these two slabs back in a box and hope they sell next time? I'm pretty sure your cost into them is 50-$60. You're selling them for $130 total. I'll give you $70 (I'm already holding my cash out in front of their face). This works best for people who have just a few slabs, not boxes and boxes full.

These five raw keys you have on the wall for $550 total? I'll give you $300 cash (make sure you lay out the $300 down right in front of them, preferably in a neat orderly fan of $20's or $50's make sure the they are crisp new bills.

Then when they agree to that. Oh that other key you have up for $50-$60, can you throw that in for another $20? I just bought 5 keys from you (Extend the money toward them already, its the natural inclination of people to accept the money).

I agree with this . There are always at least one dealer who has had a bad show. Havent had enough help to load out . Over bought and dont have enough room to bring everything , etc etc .

You have to pre scout a little , Small talk to get some info .

But the deals are there at the end of the show .

I just don't get this. If I'm a dealer and have a bad show, why would I compound it by giving away keys? You'd have to be really desperate or, more likely, really stupid to do so.

With some of the books that people get for almost unbelievable prices (at least that's what they're bragging about), there definitely seems like there are some dumb sellers out there. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be in my area (or I'd be bragging too - lol).

  5. I also want to say thank you for this thread! It gives me something else to look out for when I go through long boxes :)

It was fun to look through books that I haven't seen before. I got back into the hobby in 2013 after a hiatus of those dastardly 90's. Yes, I was one of the baseball card kids that got into comics. No, I was not one of the smart ones that bought NM87's or NM98's. lol

  6. I went to one of my local LCS' that has really good back order stock thinking I'd find a ton of them. Wrong. But I did find a Wonder Woman #86 Bolland cover DC Universe Logo, so it was worth it. Great cover! There was a Catwoman one but it wasn't in very good condition.

What I did notice is that some of the cover art for this time frame is atrocious! I'll never have them all anyway, but there are a lot I wouldn't want for my collection at all.

The Wonder Woman 86 Bolland cover is a HUGE exception. That's not going anywhere :)

Edit: I did stumble across a Legionnaires 16 (early Hughes) in my boxes so that was awesome as well.

  7. Green Lantern #0 1:25 is the one "sharks" have been in the shop for.

We got picked off at $10

I was Wrrr Wrrrr Wrong about Darkseid War issues "popping" after the Rebirth news.

    Anyway.

You were ???? But I invested $$$$$$ into those issues because of your advice.............!!!

    How can YOU be wrong........??....??

    :roflmao:

With the way the market is, they'll probably pop at some point. Who knows. Many times have I donated books, only to see them sell for $15-20 six months later.

I was about to hand off some GL 0s a few weeks ago. Procrastination pays off sometimes. lol

That Justice League run has a LOT going for it.

    First Grail

    Great story ( see Batman:Endgame )

Great art ( including some of the best covers ever to Grace a JL book )

    and Darkseid's...

+1. I am loving the Geoff Johns writing / Jason Fabok art. On to Batman you terrific twosome! (if only).

  8. So which dell otto books do you guys like the most?

Batman / Superman #7 and it ain't even close

    (thumbs u

That's the only Dell'Otto cover I have. I actually sought it out before I knew who he was. Just thought it was super cool.

+1. I was looking up Bat books, saw this one and immediately sent some PayPal funds. They, now that I have 2, are front and center of my collection. Yes, I have quite a few books that "sell" for more, but none look better than they do. The virgin cover for it was an brilliant stroke of genius. Nothing to draw attention away from the art. Awesome!

  9. Got my copy of vol. 2 #5, cover A and it had a big 'ole tear on the back cover. Now I have to get a minty fresh copy for my collection.

Still have my full run of vol. 1 & 2 going (A & B covers) and I bought in to the sketch editions for vol. 2 that jjeanius offered awhile ago.

Good luck with the sales Gunnz! Sorry you have to sell off

  10. Batman 34 Selfie is the first Duke on the front cover as Robin...sure it's 13 issues after the supposed 1st app in Batman 21 but I've seen crazier things happen in regards to being on the front cover.

Looks like you got a reference:

    http://comicsheatingup.net/2016/03/22/batman-50-spoiler/

    Excellent! Thanks for the link

I have most of them including the Combo, missing the 1:100 (damn) and 2nd print (double damn).

I'm still ahead of the game though, so, GO DUKE!

    I love collecting Batman :cloud9:

  11. Glad I can be involved in the most recent spec's discussed :)

    I have (2) copies of Gwen-om

    Batman 21:

    (1) Combo Pack, still poly bagged, looks NM or better to me

    (1) 1:25 Jock variant (PC)

    (1) 1:25 Jock variant CGC 9.8

    (1) SDCC CGC 9.8

    (2) Regular issues (1 to continue PC run)

Man, one of these days I'm going to wise up and actually sell something while it's hot.

    I'm lazy :(

(oh and my favorite so far is Old Man LoGwen - very well done!)

  12. Actually, what is the difference between print run and distribution? And yes, I really am asking that question.

So if a book is sold as 1:15, for every 15 books bought you get 1 variant. If Comichron lists a run at 22,000, that means they print 1,467 copies of the 1:15 variant, right?. Is there a way to actually know what a 'print run' is?

Thanks for your insight because I'm always confused as to what the argument is between print run and distribution (not that it takes a lot to confuse me).
