  1. Shipping: Certified books, shipping is included within North America, ROW we split it. Raw books, include $10 for shipping within North America. ROW I will split with interested parties. Who wins: Time stamp seals the deal as to who wins regardless of the form of communication (including PM, in the thread, text or phone conversation). A negotiation is not a deal until both sides have agreed on terms. If there is an unconditional posted (or communicated) it will trump all negotiations unless we have already both agreed to terms before the was posted. In that case, the will have been in vain. Except that it will give you street cred and look cool to passers by. No House Of Shame or Probationary members or any others of ill repute. Returns: I am considered a very good grader among my peers ( Here is a link to my kudos thread ) but since even CGC is inconsistent I will not guarantee a CGC grade. I will guarantee to be within one grade increment in either direction - so if I am calling the book a 9.4 it could go 9.2 or 9.6. If it falls outside of those parameters (and it does happen that they go in both directions), I will offer a refund. But I don't expect anyone to complain if I undergraded it. I will accept returns if item is otherwise not as described. Consider all books pressed. Payment: Paypal, bank wire, check or MO.

  3. Jim, that is a very special book. What I remember the most about it was how fresh it felt and smelled. Thanks for the kind words. I can also reciprocate and say that it's great to have a friend like you on the boards as we move special books back and forth amongst each other.
  4. You are making the assumption that the book was the correct grade the 1st time, nothing about the book has changed AND that the book is the incorrect grade this time. You sound like you just dropped into comics, which I know isn't true.
  5. Interesting. I havent seen it at cons. See existing collectors finally deciding to get a copy. But haven’t had a single new movie potential new collector ask for a copy. Guess mileage will vary It's not all speculators but it's also collectors who are forced to pay latest market prices because of speculation.
  6. Thanks guys. Have a few tire kickers. Going to close this down. If anyone else is interested, feel free to message me.
  7. Gang, since this thread is on the first page, rather than start a new thread I'm going to add another book for sale. Marvel Spotlight #5 CGC 9.6 OWW - Extremely tough book in high grade Asking $12,500
  8. Really? You don't think that the early 1990's were basically a bunch of artists that emulated McFarlane? Just as the 80's were basically an emulation of Miller's style, I saw the 90's as an emulation of McFarlane's style. Even Jim Lee at one point looked like TM. Maybe I'm wrong.
  9. I'm a die hard Miller fan. I even like his garbage but it's more out of nostalgia than actual appreciation for the quality of work. I probably would have a hard time actually being objective.
  10. I didn't claim to call the crash. But several people did. People who were willing to detach from public opinion, the status quo or whatever else opposition there was. I just was fortunate to know someone close to me who saw it coming and shared it with me and it benefited me greatly. If I didn't have the foreknowledge that he had given me, I wouldn't have made the moves that I did. People can call it luck, or whatever, but I've come to learn that most major pundits are blinded by ratings or social inertia or whatever it is that drives them and can't always call it like it is. Most people (the average Joe) doesn't listen to alternative news and even if they hear it, they generally dismiss it out of hand because it doesn't carry the same weight to them.
  11. And to my recollection, I don't think any artist of the last 40 years created as much of a buzz as Frank Miller did. :Literally everything he touched became a collectible and most artists changed their styles to emulate his back in the 80's when his popularity peaked. Jim Lee was the only other that I can think of that took off on that scale. Maybe I'm forgetting someone? Of course. I forgot McFarlane.
  12. It used to ALWAYS be the case that art and stories were valued more than their surrounding issues and even considered keys. This was when people actually read comics. In their respective eras certain creative teams or creators were highly sought after. Simon / Kirby Eisner Lee/Kirby Neal Adams John Byrne Frank Miller ...just to name a few. Collectors used to religiously follow the upper echelon of creators and pay premiums for them. They were considered minor 'keys' when I was collecting heavily..
  13. Well, to be fair I only met him in mid 2004 so I don't know exactly when he started talking about it that's why I put a date range. But his reasoning was sound and his time frame was reasonable. Again, he wasn't the only one. As eddly stated, he started a topic on it back in 2005. I specifically remember another thread solely focused on the topic of the housing bubble crash in the Watercooler (circa 2005 or so) but I can't seem to find hide nor hair of it so not sure what happened to it. It was started by a regular board member (trying to remember his online name). These weren't the only people. Small groups of people were decrying what was going on. Peter Schiff was probably the most famous. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Schiff#Financial_crisis_forecast Like I said, it wasn't a secret. People just didn't want to hear it.
  14. No, it was obvious leading up to 2007-08 to anyone who didn't listen to headlines or get sucked into the massive bubble that was forming. We even had a thread about it started by a boardie before the crash. I had a close friend who was telling me it was going to happen from about 2004-2005 onward and that it was going to happen soon. When it finally happened in 2008 everything he outlined happened. The problem is that most people had rose colored glasses or (like me) just couldn't believe that the status quo could change and that major institutions would either make blatantly poor decisions or even go under. Thankfully, I listened to him. There were others out there that saw it coming but they were heckled because a) it didn't fit the public narrative b) there was lots of money to be lost if it was true c) there was lots of illegal stuff going on if it was true
  15. When I set up in San Diego it was mandatory to register with the BOE in California and submit a sales tax payment for sold items.
  16. What happened in 2008 was obvious if you looked in the right places (rather than listen to mainstream news).
  17. Paid quickly on a reasonably sizeable purchase. Thank you.
  18. From the start of the hobby, Overstreet grading standards have always been different for books with larger defects allowed on older era books. This does not stand for all defects but the Overstreet grading standards were generally easier on GA books than SA, easier on SA than Ba, and so on, etc.
  19. Yes, but you need to check the time machine option checkbox when submitting.
