Some really nice books, but I'm curious why you chose to put them on eBay.  I'd think Heritage or CC would be much better venues for big ticket Duck books.

Heritage and CC, takes longer to process the books. Need cash faster to hold store front down payment, and to buy salon equipment. But true it would bring in more money. Sometimes you have to take chances, seems to have worked out well for me so far.

An interesting book with a great cover; but I've never been too interested in buying what is basically a reprint book at the substantial price it brings. I'm a Barks guy and this issue doesn't do too much for me. Early WDC&S are more appealing to me in the non-Barks realm due to the variety of work in those issues and oft times relative affordability. Good luck in the search though.

I agree, Barks or nothing for collecting.

I'm not sure I trust their raw grading.   (Not just them mind you, some dealers are stricter some are looser).   But the few times I've tried buying raw books from metro I just didn't feel the grade was right.   7k for a 9.0 sounds good, but 7k for a 8.0 ?  Less appealing.    So for me personally I don't see buying anything HG raw from them.   Not sure what experiences others have had.

I agree, it doesn't look like a 9.0 to me. They have an 8.0 for $3,100 graded, and it looks just as good as the raw. Very hard sell not being graded by CGC.

Nice! Somehow in all my years of duck collecting these have always eluded me. That might be because they didn't seem to show up so often at the shows back east when I was putting together my original duck collection. Perhaps I should start looking?

I have a few more firestones if you are interested.

Why would the reprints affect the price of the originals? Action 1 has been reprinted 10,000 times...

I'm 47, have my own business, no kids, my era of comics was the 80s and junk 90s, I grew up with GI Joe, Transformers, and Marvel & DC superheroes. But as I grew older my tastes changed, I still love that but my appreciation for what came before turned into a fascination and now a passion. I never read a GA book in my youth and now somehow I have an extensive collection of them. These characters are timeless and their early appearances will be cherished for generations, that's my opinion anyway.

I'm 40, and the same thing.

I hadn't even read a Barks book until 2017... Now I'm spending thousands a month to amass every nice looking (and not so nice looking) copy I come across... I can't be the only one, there must be thousands of people/collectors like me (I hope...)

I feel the same, I really do feel these books are undervalued. Just all the money right now is in marvel books. It will turn our way one day.

WDCS #11- Came back as 4.5 Very happy with grade. Thought it would have been lower in the 3.5 area.

Four Color #231 Came back as a 9.2 Was hoping for a better grade.

Four color #248 Came back as a 9.0 Was hoping for a better grade.

The other ones I sent out October still haven't moved. But these ones sent the first of this month came back. Go figure. lol.
Lets hope the others fair better then the last two four color grades. haha.

I love this cover too. Is it the lighting, or does this #11 have more of a blue background as opposed to the deep green color background you normally see on this issue? (Compare for instance to AJD's #11 in his group shot I quoted just below.)

It is more blue color then green.

I also have a WDCS 31 that look like it was paintbrushed. I think it is the coolest ever as I have never seen anything like it. Here is a few pics to compare.

I just got a big bundle of ducks in the mail. I've decided to try to collect all of the Dell WDC&S. I'll share the latest batch over the next few days, but here's one of them - the next one along from #13 above.

I have a great run from from issue 15 thru 150, all lower grade. I prefer higher grade books myself.

Nice #11. One year at SDCC Richie Munchin had a bunch of under #15 WDCS. I had money for one so I looked them over many times and finally landed a sweet copy of #13. Earliest issue in this run I have still to this day.

    That guy scares me lol

I have met him a few times. He is one big dude. And I am 6'3. I wouldn't mess with him. lol.
Of course I met Cory also, good guy. Acts just like on the show.
Chum Lee's Mom is from the small town I grew up in. Small world.

And Rick married a girl I went to school with, must of met her through Chum Lee.
