All is well, friend. Not surprising on the Secret Hearts 83 - it's got the Tony Abruzzo panel that is the swipe source for Lichtenstein's perhaps most famous painting - Drowning Girl. But you knew that!
Poor Tony. One of the greats; so prolific in his field, yet practically nothing is known about him.
The most I've read about him is on Jacque Nodell's blog.

Dazza! How goes it? Ever find that DC romance book you were looking for?
Hey, Dr. Love! I'm good, thank you. I hope you're well?
Yes, I did find that book, thanks. And at a good price too - I'm sure I PM'd you about that.
I was hoping to upgrade my Secret Hearts #83 at some point, but it's going for crazy prices now!

I just got Forbidden Love #1 and paired it up with a friend:
Is it the same model on both covers?
That's Hazel Brooks on #1, but not on #2.

Love this and the front cover!

"Nancy" sig
Does this "Nancy" mean anything? My patsy & Hedy #98 has "36 Nanci" written on the cover.

..... it's a good exercise in logic.... but I'm a smoker and right handed.....yet I hold my cigarette in my left hand..... I'm trying to quit, however. GOD BLESS...
Ok, but I also found photos of her applying her lipstick with her right hand which is something she definitely wouldn't do if left handed!
Good luck with your quitting. I managed to stop using one of those vaping devices, gradually reducing the nicotine content. I haven't smoked or vaped in two years, and I have no cravings either.

Good point, although don't photographers sometimes flip images?
That had occurred to me. However, she smokes with her right hand, so it's safe to assume she is right handed, and the model is holding the gun in her right hand. Really, it just doesn't look like her to me at all. I'd bet my Romantic Adventures #49 on it.
-
Might this be her as well?
I really don't think it is. I just don't see the similarity and, judging by her photos, Hazel never parted her hair on the right side.

It's been said that the cover to Spirit 22 was based on Lauren Bacall but here's a picture of Brooks in a similar pose with a dagger.
She does bear a resemblance to Bacall here. Do you think Eisner based the spirit cover on this photo?
Looking at your photos of Hazel Brooks, personally I would say it was a no-brainer that she was the influence - especially if her promo shots were being sent out to comic publishers, as appears to be the case.

and oh hey - check it out - in the above book, the surprised chick in the background who was getting cheated on for the redhead? She thought, well maybe it's my hair color, I'll go red too and then I'll get the guy! only to get doubletimed for a blonde, see below. What's a girl to do?
Nice observation, Doc.
Is this a Colletta cover? Some of the Artwork inside is.
The same artwork had been used for the cover of Love Romances #68 just four years previously!
Personally, I'm a fan of a lot of the ACG romance covers. I'm assuming this one is by Ogden Whitney?

Unfortunately, high quality romance is hard to come by over here in Scotland, so when something "real purty" catches your eye you just grab it and try and overlook the creases and wrinkles.
Anyway... one of the Colletta covers in my collection:
I love this cover as it puts me in mind of Columbo giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to Rita Hayworth.
Not Colletta, but I'm all for this cover...

I saw a beautiful high-grade copy of this at the Glasgow ComicCon this weekend. One of only two romance comics at the whole event! All romance comics are relatively rare in the UK
What are the rarest romance comics?
in Golden Age Comic Books

That's real purdy, Sqeggs. From an aesthetic point of view, you can rarely go wrong with Girls' Romances.
