  1. Ever since the trailer this forum has been at the top of the threads lately guess this book is due for a comeback like peops have been saying for a while

FF1 is the new Hulk 1.

    We can only hope.

Historically, this was the most valuable Marvel book.

I would really like to see it regain that position, although it is probably unlikely that it will ever pass up AF15.

Not likely that FF1 will catch Hulk 1. Its a simple matter of supply and demand. Currently there is less supply of the Hulk 1 book available. According to CGC Hulk 1 has a total of 1154 books graded, versus 1538 for FF1. That's ~30% less graded Hulk 1s on the market. That effects pricing a lot. That said, I do agree that the demand for FF1 will likely continue to rise, but so will Hulk - given he's likely the most stable character in the Marvel universe, since he doesn't age (thank you CGI). Not sure FF1 demand will rise at a faster rate than Hulk 1. Time will tell.

Fortunately, I'm a proud holder of both #1s and hope for nothing but a meteoric rise on both books! :)

  2. lol thanks JShot! It didn't happen all at once, I'm just posting all at once. Like all collections it had ups and downs but I'm one not to reveal until I'm happy. :cloud9: I have benefitted from he collective knowledge of the boards and I am grateful for it.

I hear ya and can relate. Just glad you're happy now and finally posting. I've been enjoying your killer books. Thanks for the display. :)

  3. Some of the convenience stores, drug stores, and news agencies used to stamp or write arrival dates on comics on the day they were received to subsequently keep track of how long they had been on sale, as a way to later identify (typically after 2 or 3 months) the non-sellers for return and refund.

Most stores didn't, making the copies with arrival dates more scarce than those without. To me, the neat full date stamp on J-Shot's copy makes it an even cooler copy, as it marks the day when that particular book first hit the newsstand. It's also a lot cleaner and less obtrusive than a big ol' grease pencil date.

Yeah, I second that! Thanks Namisgr for making me feel better about picking up this copy. :)

(... And just a little worse about my copies with pencil dates). :)

  4. On Sale: August 8, 1961

    Really nice book. Congrats!

    Welcome to the Club! :foryou:

Thank you my friend. Cool knowing the stamp was punched 1 week after hitting news stands!

It's possible they hit various newsstands at different times depending on proximity to the publisher. For example, West coast copies might go on the stands later than East cost copies.

True! Good point. Guess I'll never know for sure when the stamp was punched. But I like thinking it was punched on Aug 15, 1961... Shortly after it hit stands. Thanks guys. :)

  5. Thanks! this finished my FF 1-5 run. Me happy. It's tough keeping up with all your big hitters. :)

Nice pick up! Someone has been on a spending spree as of late! :baiting:

As my 'tagline' says... "If I just sell the car, I can up my bid.." Ironically, I sold a car. :)
