  1. Captain Science run... some cool covers..most of these came from the Bethlehem pedigree collection. At one time I owned about 600 books from that collection ..glad I saved some
  2. Later in years I was able to buy the Larson Marvel 5 pictured here.. I was also able to get the Larson Subby 1 ..which is one of my favorite books in my collection, just love the yellow cover and image and the Larson signature to boot. At that time the Marvel 5 was considered the most scarce of Marvel Mystery comics.
  3. Truth is, holder or no holder, comics will disintegrate over time unless they are stored in vacuum sealed containers as the Smithsonian does for perishable objects of value and significance. (cgc holders are great though, in that they delay the inevitable) Second, museums hold great works of art in storage that never see the light of day, perhaps because they are considered irrelevant by todays standards..
  4. I remember this one, they were exciting sales. Marvel 1 was worth more than Superman 1 and I think it also toped Action 1. All in all the 90's were pretty good for comics and a pretty good decade in general.
  5. From the first Sothebys Auction of comics in 1991. looking back the grading is a little wacky and the prices realized even wackier.
  6. I remember seeing the Larson Marvel 7 raw at a Sothebys auction in the 90's , what a great book, Larsons might be my favorite pedigree .. All the best and Happy holidays ...
  7. This is the only Marvel Pulp I have but features an image of the Human Torch in it. The original character of Human Torch was an android, an interesting character for its time. Most of the early Marvel covers were reminiscent of those early pulps.
  8. I've been doing this for a while.. doing it mostly in upgrading through trades and resale.. I have comics no money.
  9. Wonder why Red was predominantly the color for Timely's , yellow was occasional, but black and green even more scarce. I do like the yellow though.
