  1. I have a CBCS book that has been restored...slight color touch. I'm aware that sending it in for restoration removal will drop the grade and "possibly" impact the way the book looks. That's ok.

How do I submit that to CGC for restoration removal? Do I crack it first, or have CGC do it? I'm sure CGC will find restoration if I send it in raw/unslabbed. If they find restoration and can't remove it, will they tell me?

I would like it graded with a universal blue if they can remove the color touch. If they can't remove it, I guess I'll end up with a CGC purple label if I have them grade it.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I quit collecting comics when hurricane Katrina came and wipe out 19 years of collecting. But after watching the Marvel movies. Nostalgia started kicking in and I am back. I just bought a few silver age and got them signed and just came back. Feel like a kid again. Granted I never had these as a kid but I am getting to fulfilled my childhood collector fantasy.

Awesome books! I too am sorry to hear about the loss of your collection. I feel like a kid every time I get a new book in or go through my boxes. Welcome back!

  3. The first store for me was Otherworld Comics in Hacienda Heights, CA. I've still got some of the books I bought there. That had comic cards and new comics, though not a lot of back issues. I didn't know a lot about comics then, and bought what looked cool. That's where I bought the Death of Superman issues. Lots of memories there.

Although technically, the first store I bought comics from, though not a LCS, was a local Thrifty's down the street. But I changed to Otherworld eventually.

  4. Go to a comic book convention! Rummage through the bargain bins! This can be a lot of fun for the new collector.

I second this! As a recent newbie to collecting, this was and is so much fun to do. Attending local conventions allows you to jump right in. And the prices are reasonable, plus you can get a good look at the condition.

  5. About 700. A third of which is SA which I've started collecting within the past 6 months. A mix of Marvel and DC. I've got a mountain of empty USPS Priority boxes from ebay staring at me everyday, reminding me that there is always room for more. I can't imagine having 10's of thousands though. I bet that's pretty awesome!

  6. Anything that I dont own is on my wants list, I dont care whether its hot or not, I want it :insane:

I also want books that I already have if I can get them in better condition

I have no interest in selling my under copies

I hate hot books that I dont have, it just costs that much more to buy them :(

I dont care my books go up or down in value, I have nothing for sale :whee:

    Ditto! :applause:

  7. Not really. I'm still new to collecting, so right now I'm grabbing cool SA covers, and not necessarily key issues. But if I have the opportunity to get a few sequential issues, then I'll grab them. Just curious, has anyone collected FF issues that end in "4" (i.e. 4, 14, 24, 34, etc...)? I've been trying to do that just for fun.
