The reason why the % of people using subgrades is so low is because they raised the price of the service from $5 to $15 per card for subgrades....

I just saw this looking at the grading fees. Why would it cost double of the base tier to have subgrades? That does make their subgrades less competitive when comparing to bgs, so I see why they got rid of it from their new combined service. But, it also ensures they stay behind the big 3 as they have no clear differentiator now. A combination of the big 3 would have been amazing.

  3. Ok, I’m not sure why the subgrade % is so low. People I have talked to that use CGC grading aren’t happy they are being removed, and people (including myself) that would switch to CGC from the others would do so for the subgrades. I use CGC for the comic and coin grading side, so would like to do card grading through CGC. Combining and stadndardizing everything is great since that was one of the main reasons I never sent anything in (multiple submission channels and differing slab types and grading scales), so standardizing on one platform was huge. Just needed to keep the subgrades to move people over the hump, and to keep people who are now looking at CGC as another psa or sgc instead of having a competitive differentiator and advantage.

  4. I like the changes/combination of the grades other than no subgrades. This is a clear advantage for CGC and one I was looking to do a submission for once under the combined umbrella. Basically makes it like SGC but with subgrades which is a good differentiator, rather than the new scale which is just another SGC clone. Now the only place to get subgrades is BGS which is where I have to go to now.

is 25K the going rate for an Xmen 1 6.5 ?  Seems cheap but then again I dont follow SA all that much anymore

Yup, $25k is crazy low, especially with one like this that looks like it has a good chance to bump up to a 7.0. I’m selling the book for someone else, so they asked to put it up for a price that would be a quick sale.
