I finally purchased a book that has been on the top of my want list for a long time. I originally wanted a fn/vf, but the book's price has been on the rise lately and thus I went with a nice fn.
Nice! That's a great book and one I've been wanting to add to my Flash collection as well.

Hard to go wrong with a couple of classics like that..... GOD BLESS...

Thanks. I stopped by a comic book store I don't normally visit to buy a birthday present, and saw them behind the counter...so I decided it was my birthday too.
I've done the same thing. Unfortunately, my birthday comes at least once a week!
Same here. I had a second birthday two days later...20% sale on Easter Sunday. Picked up three Silver Age JLAs for my JLA run.

That one's on my list also..... I remember buying it off the stands and basically destroying it over a few month period. I definitely got my money's worth out of it GOD BLESS...

It's still a fun read, too.

I just picked up these two comics with a $30 discount:

Nice looking book! That's also one of my favorite Steranko covers.
Steranko was definitely on his "A" game with these..... and they don't break the bank. GOD BLESS...

I'm surprised at how affordable his books are. I just picked up a nice copy of The Incredible Hulk King-Size Special #1 at the Big Apple Comic Con.

Looking forward to seeing the cast at WonderCon this weekend.
I'm jealous.

Is there any talk of reviving the comic book series? I tried to get my friends to read it at the time but no one seemed interested...I would just get blank stares when I started to describe it. I wish they could include Scott and Gramps in the show...but they probably don't have the budget for that.

I really loved the comic book and hated to see it end. Allred did an amazing job. The TV show is very different, but I'm enjoying it so far. I hope they bring in more of the supporting cast from the comic, including the ghost, Ellie.

Haha I submitted a $2 OBO offer. His response is fantastic:
"$550 is a typo. It was supposed to be $150. Haven't been able to edit it. Will probably end listing and relist with correct BIN. Ed"
Even at 150 that is an insane listing. In NM that book is what? $35? $40? Did I miss the Hellcat Netflix/Stand Alone Film announcement? Or maybe he is the secret person in Avengers 2...
Ha! Wow...it takes 2 seconds to correct that and $150 is still way too much. Overstreet has it at $35 for 9.2. Or maybe Hellcat will turn out to be the mother of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch; she had a secret affair with Dr. Doom when she accompanied Millie on a modeling shoot in Latveria. They had to keep it a secret so first they made it seem like the Whizzer was their father and then Magneto.
I think you may not be able to edit the price when offers are awaiting expiration.
Good point, I hadn't thought of that. Looks like he ended the listing and put it back up for $150...which still seems too high. And then Justice League of America #1 is listed at $2,800 in VF+ condition...which could go for a lot more if it were a true VF+. I don't get the prices at all or how Fantastic Four 44 can be listed as a 9.9 for $850 especially since it's had some restoration work.

Lost a midgrade copy of Ms Marvel #1 at a small local show two months ago...thought it was left with a dealers stock by accident,or was stolen when we were chewing the fat.Turns out I picked up my small pile of books off his stock and left it on the long boxes, and one of his helpers put it away...luckily it was another friends price sticker, and lo and behold...he found it setting up today and called me to come pick it up.
Pretty positive!
Congrats! Glad you got it back.

Yes in A.K.A. Jessica Jones (rachel Taylor is going to play her)
That makes a little more sense now.

That was mostly a pointless comment by me. I'd think it's priced that high to draw attention and encourage a naive buyer to submit a $400 bin (that would be readily accepted). I noticed he has a raw Sub-Mariner #41 9.9 for sale as well. That's a pretty nice grade.
First Hellcat as an Avenger? Why would Avengers 144 be listed for $550?I have one copy and sold one, but $550?!?!
Some of his stuff does look good, but I'm wary of bidding after reading earlier comments.

The stories are mostly reprints, and the FF and ASM stories were trimmed to 10 pages each.
From Wikipedia:
The stories, in order, are:
- 1 a 10-page, edited Casper reprint, "The Flying Horse"
- 2 a 10-page, edited reprint of the 22-page "Prisoners of the Pharaoh", by writer-editor Stan Lee, penciler Kirby and inker Ayers, from Fantastic Four #19 (Oct. 1963)
- 3 a 10-page, edited reprint of the 20-page "The Birth of a Super-Hero", by writer-editor Lee and penciler-inker John Romita Sr., from The Amazing Spider-Man #42 (Nov. 1966)
- 4 the 10-page Journey To the Center of the Earth original story "The People of the Styx", by an unknown writer and penciler-inker Paul Reinman, a Marvel Comics regular
- 5 the 10-page King Kong original story "Kong Joins the Circus", by an uncredited creative team, and
- 6 the 10-page George of the Jungle original story "Shep's Burial Ground", also by an uncredited team.
Here's a good blop post on it.

Why would Avengers 144 be listed for $550? Am I missing something?

Yes the movies have made alot of folks comic book collectors. In the 1980's and 90's I was the only person who collected and most of the attitude was why are you collecting those kids items. etc. My girlfriends used to look at me like I was not growing up and one would just see dollar signs when I showed her my collection. What we could buy with them. Now seems I meet comic book collectors all the time. Just last week a customer walked in to my store and saw my comic stuff in my office and we got into a comic book conversation for 10 minutes. Anyways welcome to the boards.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm Dave. I've been collecting comics on and off since the mid-70s but I'm new to the forums and just got a paid CGC membership at the Big Apple Comic Con this March. I had a great collection in the 70s and then unfortunately sold all of it in the 80s and 90s (I held onto my run of the Uncanny X-Men and stupidly sold it when I thought I needed money). I started collecting again in the late 90s and haven't stopped since. I've been working backwards, starting with Bronze, then Silver, and now a bit of Golden Age comics. The Flash was my first love in the 70s (hence my board name) and I had a huge run, which I sold. I'm building an even bigger run now. I'm both happy and sad that the TV show is making the Flash more popular again...which is driving up the prices.
For most of my life, I was the only person I knew who collected comics and never talked about it with anyone. Now it seems like everyone I meet is into comics and happy that my hobby (obsession?) is interesting to strangers.
I've enjoyed reading the forum posts and look forward to some interesting discussions.

I've never seen that annual before. Is it a hardcover?
