  1. Recently, my company, "HEROGRAPHS" a division of MEARS Auctions, partnered with "Captured Collectibles" to conduct the hobby's first ever CGC witness signing with the World's Mightiest Mortal, Jackson Bostwick, the star of the 1974 hit TV show, Shazam!   The event was a sell out. Jackson is a true fan and scholar of the Golden Age Captain Marvel comic books, and was personal friends with CC Beck. Understanding the strength of the CGC brand, Jackson even brought is own books to be signed in the presence of the CGC witnesses and to submit them for encapsulation.

The concept was unique with respect to the fact that the the actual actor to first wear the original red suit personally signed Golden Age Captain Marvel and the 1970s Shazam! comics. This was the first time Jackson's signature was added to those comic book titles under the watch of the CGC brand. The uniqueness and ingenuity of the project created real value for those titles, which now have the CGC witnessed signatures of Jackson Bostwick.

The signing took place at the recent Chiller Autograph convention in New Jersey.   Jackson wants to thank the staff of Captured Collectibles for being professional and making the signing a huge success.  Regards, Troy R Kinunen, troy@mearsonline.com

  2. In my early days of collecting and working with artists and reps to have commissions done, the "Patience is a virtue" thread was one of the first I read. I met Michael at a show and had him do a commission which he didn't finish and had to be shipped. I was a nervous wreck waiting, and unnecessarily began to panic. After a couple of emails, Michael via his rep told me the work was done, and shipped it. I was quite pleased and have done many with him since.   My theme is 1970s super heroes.   Troy R. 3. Watch Out Jack Kirby, Adam West is gunning for you!  On May 13th, 2016, Adam West and Burt Ward created this piece of original sketch art for me. Adam West was known for his art and occasional doodles, but this was the first time Burt Ward had ever been asked to sketch Robin. It was a lot of fun watching them attempt to task. Great memories. Mr. West, you will be missed!  Troy Kinunen

  4. In honor of Adam West, I am posting my collection of autographed 1966 Batman TV original art. My concept was to blend original comic art with TV characters, and have them autographed. Artists that have participated include Neal Adams, Mike Grell (not signed), Allen Bellman, Ken Bald, Keith Pollard, Arvell Jones, Joe Giella, Don Perlin, Michael Golden, and many more. It was really special to watch each artists interpretation of the character. I am very happy with the results. Troy R. Kinunen

  5. This post is in honor of Van Williams, The Green Hornet. In 2015/2016 I hired Marvel artist Arvell Jones to complete a full size full color commission of Van Williams as the Green Hornet. The piece was autographed on February 9th, 2016. His wife, Vicki, confirmed this was the last private signing he ever completed and this was the last autograph he ever signed! I am honored to add this to my collection. Thanks Arvell for a job well done. Mr. Williams, thank YOU for being so gracious to your fans.

  7. Continuing in my series of TV Series Super Hero's turned into original comic art, I met with Lou Ferrigno this weekend, (September 18th, 2015) at the Columbus Comic Con and he signed my original Don Perlin original art commission. 16x20 in size, I was honored to add this piece to my collection from the master Don Perlin. Talented colorist Jeff Balke completed the job. Enjoy.

  8. For those about my age, we all remember the first superhero that was introduced during our era, "The Electric Company Spiderman". Debuting on The Electric Company, actor and puppeteer Danny Seagran was the first actor to don the Spiderman Suit. From 1974-77, Seagran played Spiderman on the show.

To honor his career, I was fortunate enough to work with Marvel comic artist Arvell Jones. Working directly under the great Stan Lee, Arvell was a workhorse for Marvel during the 1970s. To capture the spirit of the show. Arvell pitted Spiderman against the famous villains which graced the screen. Notice the Wall, The Spoiler, The Tickler, Yeti, Eye Patch the Pirate, Blue Beetle, and The Birthday Bandit played by Morgan Freeman in one of his earliest acting roles. It brought back a lot of great memories as I collaborated with Arvell on the creation of this piece.

    Enjoy,
