70k is chump change for an opportunity to be enlightened. We live for experience, not to hoard money. Motivation comes from within... art is a reaction to to experience. Without experience, what are you trying to say... Look how well I can draw? Lots of people can draw, it's how and what you communicate that matters. If you get fixiated on just drawing, you will fail as an artist. Go the Vienna. Work the system... get funding. Be great. Only people who do nothing have regrets.

... maybe he just wants to paint. Nowhere in his original post does he say he wants to become a famous painter so he can make lots of money at it.

Is money the only acceptable reason to want to learn more about painting?

Is money what drives your passion to draw?

You are totally right - I just want to paint :) and I want to learn some technical aspekts like MISCHTECHNIK... :whee:

Wow, what's going on here? Just WOW :) and Thanks for all the comments!! That is exactley what I've needed!! THANKS!

My intention with this thread wasn't just to get some extra pub for my sales thread, NO I also hoped to get some feedback, because I had the same thoughts like Kav, but I couldn't make a decision. This thread helps me to qualify my decision. I wont spend three years on an art school. - I think 1-2 trimesters with the right teacher will be enough to learn some important technical aspects. - Knowing this has something liberating!!

I visited a workshop in Vienna at the visionary art academy - Alex and Allyson Grey were there. 20 students, lovely people, Vienna a majestic city, I just loved the community - wonderful days. Each trimester there are different teachers and you can learn a lot.

I also was in Florence - this city is stunning. There I visited a very prestigious academy. The students learn so much - after two years they paint like the old masters. For me, this training would be a base . A base with which I could develop myself. It is not easy to learn everything himself... :(

So actually I want to expand my technical knowledge and I miss a good community... it's a bit boring doing art alone.

    About my person:

    I am 32 years young.

I studied pedagogy with a focus on psychology, psychoanalysis and psychotherapy .

I work in psychological councelling office for drug addicted people. (just 20hours per week... I do not deserve so much money , but it's enough to live and that I can save me something .

I also have a training in tourism... and I also studied philosophy and philology

My heart beats for art and I will definitely enhance my technical skills in painting.

I think if I attend just one year - it will be a good investment.

    yep, thats it. :)

  4. Hello everybody :)

Because I want to finance my education - I want to attend an painting academy in Vienna - I am selling my comic book collection. It's not easy, because I love all the books - I am sure you can understand it how I feel :( BUT I have to set priorities. The tuition is really high for a year and with the living costs I will need around 65-70K for all three years. I would really appreciate it if you would support me and the realization of my dream .

HERE you can find my sales thread - I am open for offers and can reduce the prices a bit. I am sure we can work something out!

Here is what I am doing in the moment. My first two paintings and a pencil drawing which I did when I met Alex Grey at a workshop.

    Have a great day!

  5. I don't understand why this issue keeps coming up. eBay gives you an automated process to handle slow/non-paying buyers. I have mine set to start the non paying buyer at four days. I never send anyone an invoice unless they request combined shipping. If they don't pay, I don't send it- and if I need to relist or go to the second highest bidder (second chance)-- not a big deal.

It seems like some sellers posting here are overly concerned about speedy payments. Just because you put "payment due in X days of sale" doesn't circumvent eBay policy. And there are methods in place to demand immediate payment for buy it nows.

Sure-- it is a pain to wait if you are anxious to get the item shipped/sold. But nothing these buyers who wait longer to pay (or even until they are issued a nonpaying buyer warning) is breaking any rules other than being perhaps inconsiderate and non-communicative. If they don't pay or give you a sob story about why they can't etc-- by all means-- they need to be considered for blocking. This isn't heart surgery-- we're selling comic books. Let the system handle this stuff for you.

    So true! :)
