  1. Collecting original comic art is escapism for this demographic. For most of us. Stop bringing us down with your reasonable deduction. I’m sure what we saw today is going to last forever. Upload
  2. Yes it is and that may have been a factor. But COME ON!!! ASM 10 was the first appearance of the Enforcers.
  3. Kirby still the King. FF Annual 2 pages and Cap 103 Cover just outstanding quality and the final bids reflect that. I was the under bidder on FF Annual 2 page 12 which went for 24 K with BP. I stopped because that wasn’t even my favorite page. Page 11 and the splash “forget about.” But page 10...when he smashes the mirror. Wow!!! The Killing Joke page wow STONED AGAIN ALL HAIL CRUMB Byrne Spectacular Spider-Man cover Close
  4. The half splash top of page and 2 giant panels did it. Plus I suspect someone got their finger stuck on the bid button. Factor in fatigue of seeing pages from 10 become available over and over.... I thought Ditko page would make 100 K I thought Romita page would make 50 K So.... what pages did you win today Mike?
  5. One of my favorite stories and definitely some of my favorite pages! I Wish you could’ve kept them but I understand how things happen.
  6. Congratulations on winning the page! No you are right. There are not enough KJ pages to go around. More power to the winning bidder. A page is only worth what someone is willing and able to pay for it.
  7. Yeah...didn’t sell. Back to the drawing board for HA and the consignor. Many CGC members felt this wasn’t a strong painting.
  8. I tried to raise 40 K for a superior Killing Joke page that a dealer was selling on his site. It went bye bye before I could make it happen. That was Within last 10 years. I now know if people will pay $102 K for this one (and I truly mean no disrespect) that I will never own page from that classic book. Again if someone here won that page congratulations. I bet the consignor is thrilled.
  9. You guys were to busy drooling over it. Sounds like no free hand to type the bid button.
  10. Congrats. Nice payday and the new owner has a treasure with future legs on it.
  11. SOLD for $600,000 with BP I feel brain smart and comic art poor Congrats to the consignor and to Neal Adams (Cha-Ching!!!!) Props to whoever bought this. A major conquest, a surviving relic of rich comic art history.
  12. I still think for the comic OA we’re going to see current under performing bids catch up on final day. Is there a wary ness due to the hack last month?
  13. I think I know where you’re going but this pic below is the mind altering drug I associate with.
  14. Current $450 K w BP. 15 are still alive guessing 400-500 K 19 Are alive waiting to see if it goes 500-750 K 6 Are alive and believe it will go 750-1M My guess was $605 K And Neal Adams cut = ????
  15. Sold mine also, the entire 1-20 run. I likely won’t replace that run but 18 always will be a special issue for me.
  16. Conan the Barbarian 100 Death of Belit I saw the cover on the spinner rack and thought,”there’s no way in hell!” Sigh Black Adler owns the original art cover. You can see it on His CAF. John Buscema and Ernie Chan.
  17. I hear you: I do. When I started collecting I was 100% on the side of artists on everything. I worried about how artists didn’t have art returned to them. I worried about where the art went? In 1996 all I kept hearing was “thrown away” “destroyed” “not meant to be saved other than reuse in producing another comic. Then magically many thought to be gone forever pieces started popping up everywhere. Those around long enough recognize the connection of those art pieces to people In our hobby be they dealer or collector. I do see a collectors side though. With out our crazed desire for these pieces their would be a minute group of nerds exchanging portfolios at cons and the stink of money an afterthought. With the explosion of values there’s potential unethical pitfalls we all should consider. Provenance is big for me. When I can I prefer to buy directly from an artist or their rep. Fine art and comic art. Love it but also aware how much unethical motivations fuel behaviors. Money changes everything.
  18. Yeah Vodou normally I would not be interested at all in Frank and Lynn's personal history. That being said, how ever this plays out could be an eye opener for collectors. I never want to buy art and find out later there are potential legal ramifications or challenges to my ownership. I'm leaning towards my gut feeling that Lynn is the owner. Mounting legal fees and fear of the unknown( legal decision) I suspect will lead to an "amicable" sharing of the art. Lynn has more to lose if it's decided the art belonged to Frank. The X factor. How bad do these two people resent each other? It only takes one of the two to insist on cutting the baby in half.(My King Solomon reference for the day).
