  1. Unfortunately anyone can see this movie will suck.  Dave Bautista is a C level Rock or Arnold who can't act.

As a fan of valiant when I was a kid I am growing tired of this so called Valiant Universe allegedly coming to production.

How long ago have they announced Bloodshot and Harbinger and we havn't see jack swat yet.

Eternal Warrior is on pace already for a direct to netflix/video release.

    It will blow balls!

Solar 10 first printing has always been high when it comes to a 9.8 example. Then it nosedives down at the lower grades. So hopefully news like this helps bring more attention to this book.

As far as a linchpin villain, someone like Harada or Master Darque have strong potential of being that dominant force. Depending on what the storyline focus would be (meta-humans in general, or magic which influences this world).

I sold both my Solar #10 CGC 9.8's at auction this week.

Hmm, ok took a look at it. Decent not special PQ, Lots of chipping, and pretty legit overall 3.5 wear.  It was an auction with 27 bids, top 3 bidders all appear to be legit with feedbacks from 300-2200+ all bidding over 18k.

So, considering ebay seems to be the place stuff goes for low market, thats probably the baseline for average chipped up 3.5 prices, which probably means 18.5-20k is probably the range for chipped up AF15 depending on source.

4.0 is the first major jump, looks like 30-35k depending on chips or not is the range now on that book

The 4.5-6.0 seems to be in flux.  Most of the CC auction and CL auction results not showing up in that grade range, so data is sorta old on GPA but i would assume this puts it as such.

    1. 4.5 at 33-40k depending on chipping.

    2. 5.0 at 45-52k depending on chipping.

    3. 5.5 at 45-55k depending on chipping.

    4. 6.0 at 55-65k depending on chipping.

This appear to be the new ranges to other folks?

eBay is best place to sell certains books. Most of my sales come from eBay, and from CGC books 1975-now my auctions outperform GPA more often than not.

  4. Anybody nervous that Mark Hamill remarks are actually troubling for our expectations of this movie?

What scares me the most is when Mark Hamill at Star Wars celebration (starting @2:34) starts talking and then Kathleen Kenneday cuts him off, and Mark says sarcastically, "well that's good to hear."  :/

I am also nervous because it's seem Kathleen Kennedy is under fire from fans after her comments about what she wants.

No one has to do anything is correct, but it sure would be nice for these creators to show goodwill to their loyal fans.  They should show good virtue and have empathy with their fans who wait in line.

Because these old school creators got shafted back in the day doesn't mean that it is OK to shaft their loyal fans today.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Again no artist or writer owes any of us anything. I don't see your point even 1%.

Many fans only wait in line to make FREE $ from ones signature or sketch.

The Anatomy of the Signature Fee

The anatomy of the Signature Fee, and how to alienate your fans.

Mega Con 2017 came and went, tons of comic fans, and artists alike shared a weekend in Orlando, FL where one was sure to meet creators, movie stars, and the occasional artist alley artist selling prints and original art.

The set up this year was the South Concorde, which is slightly smaller than the north, although no one noticed.  With plenty of isle space, you could almost walk without having to stop every five second, that is, until Saturday afternoon, where it seemed like attendees just kept pouring in as they were leaving.

One thing you may have noticed, if you’re comic book fan like me, was the unusual fees being asked for signatures.   At first it was odd that creators who one could normally walk up and get multiple books signed for free, were now asking payment for any signature (Yes raw books).  After carefully looking around the professional section, it seemed that every well-known published artist was now asking at least $5 per sig, higher if you wanted to get your book graded or “witnessed” as most advertised.

This got me thinking, why charge collectors? Are we not the reason why creators get to attend shows like these?

I spoke with a popular DC inker, who summarized his feelings about why he doesn’t charge at all. “If I were to charge for every book I signed, then fans would no longer come see me or buy my prints”, said the inker.  “To me it is ridiculous that some of these artists are charging the same fans that go out and buy comics every week from the local stores.”  He continued to say that, “creators/artists need to think carefully about this, because when you turn away fans because of your fees, you’re essentially alienating the same fans that buy our published books week after week, eventually putting yourself out of work.”

I never really paid attention until now, what if fans decided not to pay signatures fees?  Would the artists stop attending shows?  One will have to wait and see.

As for me, I paid my fair share of fees because, hey, I’m a fan and a collector just like you.  However, there are some creators that I won’t give the time of day because of their ridiculous signature fee demands and picture fees (YES PICTURE FEES).

Creators should sign these comic books for free to show their appreciation to the fans who have supported them thru all the years.

I never got why these comic artists/writers charged their loyal fans for an autograph. These creators should give back to the fans who still care about them to go see them by lining up in a line for hours.

#1 No one needs to anything.  No artist or writer owns me anything.  They did comic book work, I enjoyed it, so what?

#2  Tell that to Bill Finger! 50% creator of Batman and the gotham universe.  That guy deserved more $ per signature than any us can comprehend.

Many old school writers and artists got shafted back in the day.  So let them make some $ on the back end is 110% fine with me.

  8. I would rather watch a 24 hour loop of Catwoman with Halle Berry than ever watch Iron Fist S1 again.

If anyone enjoyed this then you are simple minded and have zero taste of anything than might resemble taste in your own life.

Close this godawful trek of a thread.

Then good for him. Does he sleep on the floor like Harley? Just bustin' chops, Harley rocks. I have only been to his booth once but he was nice and a straight-shooter.

  10. Batman and Bill Finger on Hulu--A must watch!

    https://www.wired.com/2017/05/batman-and-bill-who-is-batman/

I am sure many of us comic fans know about Bill Finger and how Bob Kane was a total scumbag to him.  I hope this new Hulu documentary will help the whole world see who else really helped to create Batman, especially the Batman universe and Rogue gallery.  Jerry Robinson also get some kudos as well.

    Has anyone else watched this?

    You're confused.

I'm neither confused, nor interested in having comics with poorly preserved cover stock showing edge yellowing in my collection, provided I can acquire another example with well preserved cover paper.  I know I'm far from alone on this - just check out what the Curator copy of Fantastic Four #1 fetched for its numerical grade, and what the cover paper looked like on it.

    Bob you are 110% correct.

This could just as easily been used to describe Guardians of the Galaxy.   Given what Marvel has done with that, I'm more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as they adapt one of Lee and Kirby's best runs in the history of comics.

Movie studios is a big difference from a TV budget.

You're talking SA here, not common BA/CA.  Those books will never be "cheap" again, no matter what the show does, especially in high grade.  Never.  2c

And I'm not sure how any of you high minded nerds are able to make such bold proclamations about the final quality of this show based on nothing more than a single poster and a 15 second voice over ad lol .  I think you will be in for a pleasant surprise once the final product is revealed  (unless of course your bias is so entrenched because it's "not the X-men", that anything about it will automatically "suck" in your opinion).

    -J.

FF 45 is a good book because it's a cool cover of the actual FF.  Inhumans are a C cover band you don't want to pay to see.

Send me a PM when the inhumans surpass Breaking Bad or Walking Dead.

Flash, Arrow, Gotham, AoS, and more than likely The Inhumans are such golly gee campy boring bad acting DREK.  Who has cable anymore?

It's either Netflix and chill, HBO, or movies.  Cable is such basic garbage.

Usually I respect these guys on reviews, but I think they have zero intelligence on this one.

Wow everyone from the youtube comments after they saw the movie now thinks these guys have might be clueless.

GOTG 2 knocked it out of the park.  I thought the story was actually better than part 1.

IMO GOTG 2 surpassed my expectations.  4/5 movie review for me.

Obviously it rebounded once they said it was going to TV instead of just be canceled in general.

It will be bathtime for the these books.  Show is going to bomb.

  16. Marvel Comics blows, however Marvel Movie Studios aka Disney hits another winner out of the park! ^^

GOTG 2 was so fun!  I was worried that Drax's humor was going to be over the top from the previews.  However, I was very happy after viewing the film to see it was for the most part fine and made everyone laugh.  It's very rare that a sequel can beat the original (well excpet for CAP 2 & Dark Knight :shy: ), however GOTG 2 meet my expectations.  Marvel once again laughs at DC's face with making household names out of pre-2014 dollar bin charaters.  My only small gripe is the soundtrack for his movie I think was pretty bad except for the last song of the 3rd act, but that is small potatoes to the overall enjoyment of the movie.

    5 post credit scenes!

Great start to summer at the movies!

Anyone know what the cheapest available 4.0 is right now to buy? Not auction, not "make offer". Like who has the cheapest 4.0 for sale as of today anyone can buy? The average price for reported sales went from 13-16k (going up as time went on).  Whats the least you can pay for it today?

At the end of the day, what someone will sell it for right now tells you what you need to know about this book. Anyone willing to sell ANY unrestored decent PQ copy of this book for any price within 25% of 2016 prices?

Sure, but let me first ask my financial comic guru for his advice.  Wow that was fast he actually just responded down below.
