    Hello, :hi:

For the last 10 years or so, I've been told that CGC will not grade Mirage Studio's Gobbledygook #1&2, citing the reason that since they're Xeroxed, hand-stapled, and extremely limited, they are too difficult to authenticate.

Did that policy change?  If so, what prompted the change?

I came across these in an upcoming Heritage Auction and it piqued my curiosity.

    Graded Gobbledygook #1

    Graded Gobbledygook #2

    Thanks!

This is the listing where I bought my Gobbledygook from Pedigree.  It was a gamble but i rolled the dice.  This copy was the 1st graded by CGC(9.2).  It took me about 8 months to come up with the plan to get the book verified as authentic.  Ultimately setting up a meeting with Kevin Eastman and his bride at the 2017 SDCC after hours.  2 weeks before the event I finally convinced CGC execs to attend the meeting.  Kevin explained there were 5 points of difference to confirm a Gobbledygook #1 and #2 were authentic.  BTW, they were both printed at the same time, approximately 50 copies of each.  The meeting went well and CGC took my comic back to Florida to be verified.  It took about 4 months for that to happen as the President of CGC had doubts.  Luckily Kevin had also drawn a image for my son and I declaring my find as real.  I had to fedex the image to CGC to complete the process.  The staff of CGC was great to work with and were true professionals.  The process was exhilarating for sure.  3 months later I got a call from Kevin he had 1 last copy of #2 and we did the process all over again.  That's how the 1st copy of Gobbledygook #2(9.0) got graded.  I'll post images at some point but I wanted to get the story out.

    Description

BEST EXISTING COPY!! This is a true NM example of this highly sought after book. Features a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appearance on the full page back cover ad!! First ever mention of the TMNT. VERY RARE in any grade as this book was limited to just approximately 50 copies! Easily the nicest copy you will ever see and a strict NM with snow white pages. CGC does not certify Gobbledygook #1 and #2. The best and nicest looking copies from auctions past have only been as high as VF/NM. This almost perfect one blows any of those away. We have seen 2 other Gobbledygook #1's and one was a VF+ while the other was a VF/NM. That VF/NM copy sold at auction in 2011 for over $11,000! This is an unread, gorgeous copy of this landmark issue that also features the first appearance of Fugitoid. No TMNT collection is complete without Gobbledygook #1 and #2. We are erring on the side of caution in calling this blazer a NM as many dealers would call it a NM+. It has 2 teeny, tiny faint nicks on the spine (seen only from the front cover) and one tiny stress line (seen only from the front cover) and nothing else!! Take a nice, long look at this incredible copy as you will NEVER see another one like it again.

  2. Please add Gobbledygook set to the registry.  Would love to post my #1 and #2 for everyone to see.

    Hello @Expaperboy,

Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately, we will not be able to fulfill your request for a Gobbledygook set as it only contains two books and CGC has only graded 6 total copies. This does not meet the minimum requirements for a set created. These books can still be displayed as part of a custom set for all to see!
