I agree that the two signatures with the "Best Wishes" sentiment are authentic. I do not believe the other three are authentic.

One thing to look for is in the J. I would avoid any Kirby signature in which the J is pieced together using two or three separate strokes. This is not a trait you find in authentic verified examples.

Thanks for the heads up Mr Zipper, I am not a professional signature authenticator, so I cannot say for sure, and appreciate your input. Although one with Best Wishes does appear to have these additional strokes you're talking about, yet you think it's authentic. Seems like it's a hit or miss when it comes to the more sharp or soft "J". Anyhow thanks again!

That's interesting. I'm glad you chimed in Mr. Zipper. The FF 72 shown here with the member opinions as being fake is being sold on EBay right now for $300. Keep the legit, pawn off the fakes?

I bought 9 books thinking they were authentic, I am selling the one lowest graded copy FF 72 on ebay now to recoup the costs of the collection I bought. There's a full disclaimer in the description, I'm not looking to rip anyone off, or sell fakes if that's what you're implying. Buy at your own risk, as I did a week ago. If I was 100% sure it was a fake I would not be selling it.

  3. Hey guys, came across a collection recently and found a handful of Jack Kirby signatures, but wasn't sure if they were legitimate. The guy I bought them from said they were originally from a granddaughter of Kirby, but who really knows. Anyhow, take a look and let me know what you think!

  4. Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate your help with this. I did look over the book last night and it's in excellent condition. No creasing what-so-ever, no stains, tears or other major issues. There are few spine ticks/dents around the staple areas that knock the book down a few grades, but I'm fairly confident it would grade around a VF/NM (9.0) condition as it sits. Right now I am open to offers from anyone who might be interested. Thanks.

  5. Eerie 1 Authentication Help Needed

    Hey guys, need some help

Picked up a copy of Eerie 1 today, seller claims it original but I need help authenticating it. I've read mixed ways on how to identify it, and then there's talk about a second print, and so I've tried my best at taking some pics of the book with hopes you guys can help. Measurements are 5 1/4" by 7 1/4" This issue appears to have the blue marked staples, and page 18 the guys head is clearly visible, which by some books lables this a 2nd print. Can anyone shed some light on what I just purchased and if it's worth anything.  Thanks

This is the second print with the blue staples.

Still fairly hard to come by.

Looks like I have the second print as you described, looks exactly the same as what you posted. Thanks

I am not an expert on the subject so please do post in the magazine forum where other more experienced members can comment.

The magazine forum had an old thread or two about this book.  With the changeover to the new format, it seems that I can't locate the old thread.

The book you purchased is not an original.  The original did not have the man's head visible in the panel mentioned and it did not have blue striped staples.  This is a "2nd" or other copy.

I did find this in one thread that should help.  Eerie #1 discussion.

Thanks, I'll definitely post over to the magazine area.

I don't know about this book, but I would probably double post this topic at the comic magazines forum.  Those guys are pretty good.  If it's real, that would be awesome!!!

Thanks guys for all your help
