Nothing particularly fantastic, but it fills a hole very nicely in my collection, and is a perfect affordable keeper in my books (no pun intended).

Though, if I could give some advice to Cyclops, I'd tell him to STOP SHOOTING THE AMULET, BLAST HIS FREAKIN' FACE INSTEAD. Other than that, SWEET book, MK!

ASM 51 to 119 completed
Get a #120 already! That cover is too good to not have in your collection! Now!
(Nicely done )

7 more to go to complete the series...
This week I received ASM #18, #27 and...
Awesome copy! Congrats! What 7 books are you still missing?
-
Kudos to joeypost for what is probably my 5th or 6th transaction with him (Got an ASM v2 #36 CGC 9.8 with some nice freebies this time). Great board member, great books, great prices and great freebies. If you ever get a chance, buy something from him!

Kudos to Joey Post and Anfield Fox. Two cool guys..........
Ditto!

By the way, a HUGE KUDOS to Korvac for some books i received quite a while ago now. All of his books were brilliant, his transactions flawless. Great guy!

Sometimes i think i'm too subtle for my own good.

A Big-Ol' KUDOS to Korvac Saga for some awfully pretty CGC ASMs.

Is there any reason to read this series? Is there a worthwhile story, or pure hucksterism? I read Crisis on Infinite Earths a few years ago not long after rediscovering comic books, and while it was confusing at times -- because storytelling was secondary to the artwork and DC's cleanup agenda, and because of my 1970 to 1995 "gap" -- it was worth the time. I've heard conflicting views on Secret Wars and obviously there are some fans here. With 2 to 4 copies of each issue, mostly from cheapo bins, I might as well dig them out and take a look.

It has its high points, IMHO.

One of my favourite covers and one of my favoure 7.5/8.0s to date, all in one book.
This was bought from khaml, when he was selling off the ASM portion of one of the collections he came by some months ago.
-
Centering is nicer ,
what brings it down to a 8.0
The old label
It's actually a gorgeous 8.0. It's got two barely color-breaking creases near the LRC, and a ding near the URC, as well as a miniscule paper-thin color-breaking line just above the second henchman's back on the spine.
It could probably get an 8.5, if necessary.. but that's not really an issue for me unless i was interested in selling it. Which i'm not.
-
...I did get these two recently,...too bad they are marvels,...
One of my favorite Spidey covers
I still like my 8.0 Better.

How could i have missed this thread for so long! See what happens when i don't visit the Silevr forum? I'm a Spider-head, though i've recently decided that i'm going to focus solely on ASM, and let the fringe titles and etc fall into the background (at least for now). Being a 19 year old university student, i've got plenty of time and i'm not rushing anything with my collecting. I'm always happy to get a beater/filler opy, and then upgrade that same issue several times to get it to a respectable "keeper" quality grade.
My current goal is for ASM 1-current (current being whenever i decide to stop). I am just on my way out and don't have time to scan much now, but i'm well on my way to that goal, without rushing anything and without (unneccessarily) overspending. I'm a very patient collector. Although i'm no grade nazi, i like the idea of everything being VF and up, and proportionately lower for the higher-priced issues. To give you an idea of what i still need, here's my want list. Sure, my collection is currently boasting some pretty crappy fillers here and there, but it will all (hopefully!) eventually be 8.0 and up.

I'm currently trying to fill in all the holes above #100 before i delve too seriously below that line. Being a pretty cheap collector and being patient pay off. Since i have no urgency to complete my run, i find issues that i like at a price that i like, and if i have the money, i buy them. If not, i pass. Don't mistake me for a "casual collector", because i am not by any means. I'm just very patient, and careful with my money.
Incidentally, this thread ROCKS! Keep it up and keep the scans and pictures (especially love those ASM group shots) coming, gents!

Shh. Keep that stuff away from Beyonder. Quickly. Next page, people! Nothing to see here!
