    People will always go to the movies but how many? In the mid 40's, Hollywood sold over 4 billion tickets in the US. Around the introduction of color TV in the late 50's, the number was 2.5 billion. In 1995, the number was 1.2 billion. In 2019, the number was 1.2 billion- so a flat line over 25 years while the US population grew 20%. The proliferation of streaming options and technological advancements for at home viewing paints a dismal long term picture for traditional movie theaters.
