Has anyone had problems with CGC not picking up your comic books from the post office?  My package arrived at the post office in Sarasota available for pick on 1/31/21 at 1:56 pm and CGC still hasn't picked it up or at least that is what tracking shows (Available for Pickup)

I emailed CGC and inquired about why the tracking status for the package I sent to them continues to read "Available for Pickup".  Here is how they responded.

    Hello,

We actually don't pick up the mail from the post office directly.  It is all delivered to our office.  Due to a very high volume of mail, it is taking longer than normal for the post office to deliver all of the packages to us here.  You will see that status change once it has been delivered.

As the packages are sitting in that status for longer now, it generates that automated email you received stating your package would be sent back.  You do not need to do anything; the package will still be delivered as scheduled.

  3. I sent the following email to CGC on 7/2/19:

I would just like to check on the status of the comic books I submitted for grading. The order number is XXXXXXXXXX.  Someone from your company signed and picked up the books at the post office on 5/30/19. On the CGC Submission Tracking webpage it states they were received on 6/5/19.  My credit card was charged on 6/7/19. When I submitted online the wait was listed as 15 days. I noticed that the waiting period for Standard submissions has increased to 18 days. It has been 19 business days since you listed them as received and 22 since they were picked up at the post office.  Any information on the status of my books would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    CGC response:

Thank you for your email. Your submission was received in our system on 6/5/19. It is currently in the grading queue.  Standard services are currently running 4-5 weeks, that’s about 20-25 business. We have approximately another week for finalization.

  4. Bomber-Bob,

    Thank you for your input.

I would suspect that the term 'medium', when used by CGC, is probably bigger than one would think but who knows ?

Exactly! One man's medium is another man's large.  You would think that CGC would be a little more precise, especially with a spine split.  The book is already graded so there is no way to tell how medium the split is.

Once again thanks for your response.

  5. I was reading the CGC Grader Notes for a comic book and the notes stated that the book had a "medium split bottom of spine."  How many inches does a spine split need to be in order to be classified as medium spine split?  How much does a spine split like this affect the overall grade of a book?

  6. I have a question about the restoration removal process and cost.  I recently received a graded comic book back from CGC.  It was graded and a small amount of color touch was found on the front cover in two places.  The restoration was categorized as B-1.

If I send the book in for restoration removal and CGC determines it is a candidate for restoration removal, does the restoration removal service cover the cost of regrading and encapsulating the book or will I have to pay CGC again for regrading and encapsulating the book?  I hope that makes sense.  Any help would be appreciated.
