  1. Don't be fooled by propaganda advanced by those with a vendetta. Artists can charge whatever they want for their signature. That's never, ever been the issue. What they don't have the right to do is dictate what you may or may not do with that signature once it has been signed, short of drawing up a legal document...and no one's going to do that when the benefit is decidedly one-sided. And, it need not be stated that a signature is not even remotely the same as a work product. As well...charging different prices for the same service...a signature...is discrimination, whether people understand that or not. "You're charging me $30 to sign these? But...you just did the exact same thing for the guy in front of me for $20....and I don't get anything extra from you for the difference in price." Of course you should play by their rules...but you ought to understand that a lot of these creators have been lied to by so-called "facilitators" who tell them that "people slabbing are making fat stacks of cash off your signature"...which isn't even remotely true. Of course, they tell them this, so that they can then step in and say "....and *I* can help you, to make sure you get a cut of that $$$. Just sign here, and I'll take care of everything." Which, of course, is a conflict of interest. They're lying to creators, to convince them to charge more for CGC, so they can get a cut of that extra cost. It's quite the swindle.
  2. You stole that from a tweet without proper attribution.
  3. I heard this was the Friday thread...? I'll take whatever money people want to shove in my mouth. $100s preferred.
  4. If he was "putting his daughter ahead of a damn comic" he wouldn't have bid on it in the first place. If you're so close to the edge, why are you bidding on comics on eBay? I suspect this loser has no children, but using them as human shields makes you the lowest form of scumbag. If he pays, I would refund his money. It's the only option you have to not have to deal with further games.
  5. It is absolutely ABSURD that anyone asks what people intend to do with their property after they've bought it. Just ABSURD. Can you imagine, going to the store and the cashier ringing you up asking what you intend to do with those dozen eggs, and worse, charging you a DIFFERENT PRICE based on an answer that is none of their damn business in the first place? It's just RIDICULOUS. And it won't change until people start pushing back. "I'm sorry, but I don't think it's any of your business what I intend to do with this after I buy it."
  6. That's interesting. These books were probably one of the most printed books of all time but I have noticed an uptick in price on graded 9.8 copies on eBay. Just wish mine did not have that indent. No "probably." This book had the highest print run of any comic book ever printed. ~ 8.25 million copies.
  7. And if you send it to them you might get it back by 2020 Whatever you do, don't ask for a status update. They'll ban you.
  8. I would never do that to a friend But you have no problem falsely accusing an enemy, who thought you were his friend...? ""
  9. Nonsense, and you are getting involved in issues of which you are wholly unaware.
  10. Don't trust ANYONE'S word completely. Everyone makes mistakes. I still have about a short box of all flavors. Waiting for Miller to come down to earth. Probably now. As far as the printing issues, no, doesn't affect them at all.
  11. See, now, if I was smart, I would have caught your lack of punctuation and responded with this: "Dorks: [dawrkz] noun Slang . a silly, out-of-touch person who tends to look odd or behave ridiculously around others; a social misfit." Sadly, I am not smart, so you got what you got.
  12. Look up dorks. Oh, you mean to the post where Blowie says "It's PGX before they were PGX"...? Wait, where am I...? Toto...? Is that you....?
  13. Is that you, or Nico? PS. Grab that Tec #578 9.8 in the box there.
  14. I'm not sure, but I don't think it's a CGC slab. You might be right. I'm pretty sure it's not a CBCS slab. I think it might be an ACE slab.
  15. That's a first. The seconds have an OBVIOUS color difference. As in "so obvious, once you see it, you can't unsee it." (Why did this post wait 13 hours to get an answer? Buncha slackers.)
  16. (This thread is a great conversation, by the way.)
  17. This is a good explanation of the speculator market.
  18. I can tell you that I won't take that lying down... I imagine Chuck won't, either.
  19. I can tell you that I won't take that lying down...
  20. Counterfeit slabs exist, and have for years. CGC does a good job of dealing with them when they arise. Luckily, they've been pretty easy to spot...so far. My understanding, based on information I've seen from CGC, is that they have counterfeiting countermeasures built into the slab and the label, which they have successfully kept from the public. Another reason to think twice before paying ridiculous premiums for "the highest graded" anything: less motivation for people to game the system.
  21. You're right, I have no crystal ball. I am just baffled that people think these books are wise purchases for a 1 week old comic book. You and me both. It's a special species of madness, for sure.
  22. Well...that thread IS over 8 years old. Maybe new events had occurred. I suppose not, though.
