What about spine wear? 6.0
Good question. I added two pics of spine. Shows minimal wear to my eyes.

My mistake, didn’t see the staple.
If a cover/centerfold is detached from a staple, the grade is usually no higher than a 6.0. I’ve seen books with the same defect receive qualified, usually for the cover.
Thank you, good to know. I’m learning.

4.0, qualified. Cover detached at one staple.
Cover is attached at top and bottom staple. You can see it from the picture of the spine. There are tiny tears on the sides of the bottom staple that you can see from another picture.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. It's got a lot going for it as very little in over-all wear and tear...just kind of dull because of the accumulation of "stuff" on the surface. (Sorry, didn't want to say dirt) The potential is there for a very nice copy,.
Yeah, that red cover is tough. And you can say dirt, lol!

I’m stuck on this one. 3.5 estimate from the color fade.
I picked this up for $1 from Half Price Books probably 30 years ago. Bagged and boarded it, so never really looked at it that closely until now. I’ve not come across such color loss before, and this seemed a bit extreme.

Just trying to improve my grading skills. Stapes are firmly attached, as is the cover. There is a very light crease across the comics code stamp. That corner is the most problematic from what I can see. The red on yellow on the cover really pops. No internal issues. No work has been done on the book. I have a number in mind. What’s yours?

Slowly trying to improve my grading skills. I have an idea on this one, but would love input. One thing not seen in the pics is that the cover is separated from the top staple, but not the bottom. That limits me to a max of 4, other issues notwithstanding, right? The interior pages are all tightly stapled. It has not been cleaned or pressed or, obviously, graded.

That's a cool project. I'm just starting back and haven't gotten my S-M's graded yet, but 4's, 5's and 6's appear to be my sweet spot in the earlier editions of Marvel hus far. I possibly have the 5's in the #7, 10 and 12 you're looking for. Once I get them cleaned, pressed and graded I'll check back to see if you're still looking if I have a match, but you know how long that might take for me to get them all back, lol. Meanwhile, good luck in your quest.

I wanted to say I appreciate your honest opinions on the books I’ve listed. I’m learning along the way.

The bleed is fine, it's not your main issue. The corners are your main concern here and them being blunted and worn would put this closer to an 8.0.
Most of my books have very obvious blunted corners, so I guess this one looked cleaner to me. I appreciate the honest opinion!

First appearance of Bumblebee. The main thing I see is that there is light bleed-through of some of the pink color used on the inside panel to the front cover. You may see it on and under the title "Titans" and on the white face of Two-Face's daughter. Not sure if that is common on this issue or not. Otherwise, Corners look sharp, staples are tight, no spine ticks. I'm not picking up on anything else. Thoughts?

This is a duplicate post, and I can't figure out how to remove it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate the help.

Trying to expand my grading skills. This is a low grade key, for sure. Biggest issues are cover separated from top staple, but attached on bottom staple with small tears. Ink name written on cover left of Loki. Some cover creases. Corner abrasions. Small tear through issue number on the right. All the pieces are intact inside and out. Don't see an issues inside. Thoughts?

ing great book!
These nice mid-grades are where it's at for me. They can be handled and enjoyed and still maintain the grade.
On overall eye appeal I'll wager this one gets the SA boost to 6.0+ OWW
I don't see the dust shadow holding this one back
Thanks! Much of my collection falls into this range, so I'm taking the time to learn more about them while rebagging and boarding them (and cleaning/pressing a few) for longevity.

Assuming no foxing along bottom back cover...
I could see this book touching 8.5 with a press.
But if that's light foxing I see it languishing in the 7s
Great question that my untrained eye can't determine.

Avengers #57. No creases, tears or stains. Cover colors look bright to me, although with almost all red, I don't have a comparison to use other than some CGC graded samples on the internet which mine seem to match. The back cover looks like it could benefit from cleaning. Spine is tight from front to centerfold. I would appreciate any comments about the corners so I can increase my knowledge of what is considered sharp vs. what is not. I've used the guide to Grading Comics, so that's the main source of my opinion, which I'll withhold so as to not influence anyone's opinion here. No pencil or ink marks. I'm optimistic. What do you think?
Tales of Suspense 51
in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?

PGM Tales of Suspense 51. Has that small tear on the back cover that I highlighted. Centerfold is separated from the bottom staple. All pages are there, and nothing is clipped out or written on. Otherwise the pics tell the tale. Thanks!
