  1. I find this an interesting answer as I have wondered about this. Case in point. I have a newsstand copy of KTOR # 50. Comichron says around 15,000ish of these were printed. And with the charts we have all seen floating around about percentage of direct vs newsstand books through the years, does that really mean only 150-180 or so copies of this newsstand issue exists? I find that very hard to believe.

    Here are today's new arrivals.

Action #495, Flash #275 and Justice League #169 are all the highest copies of those books on the census, while Flash #278 is the 2nd highest.

It's worth noting that the Justice League issue is not noted by CGC as a Whitman edition - technically, there are no copies of this book on the census. CGC seems to have a real quality control issue with DC Whitmans. Based on my own experience, I would suggest that about 15% of these books are mislabelled, either not noting them as Whitman editions, or assigning them an incorrect issue number.

Though I have quite a few Whitman DC single and in packs, I only have 1 graded. It is a 9.2 Flash #275 graded by another company. I am surprised an 8.5 is the census highest on CGC. I guess just not many people see the need to grade it.

  3. The first Rudolph was tough to find. I have an 8.0 but I'm not sure I can post it here. Also, the Kotter one was tough for me to find in VF or better. But my biggest pain so far is trying to find a NM of FFE Batman # 1. Finding a clean white front cover along with a non color breaking black back cover still has me looking.

  4. It seems the June 1980 cover date are the hardest to find. Also some in June 1979 are somewhat difficult though not nearly as tough as 1980. I also am intrigued by what books came in packs together. Based on no definitive knowledge, I like to think Sgt. Rock 329, Warlord 22, and DCCP 10 came together. I actually had a Warlord at one time. Found it at a flea market for a buck. Sold it. ;) Be interesting to know for sure what books came packaged together.
