  1. over 110 posts to catch up on.

nice to see some vindication on those NWM variants. Hopefully my rants at the time saved some people some money.

Also, I have all the printings of that Excalibur book that appeared in here :D none slabbed of course, but still fun to see.

As for the NWM/PP debate. PP will not crash until at least the motion comic comes out. After that, everyone is just casting darts blind. Up until it, it will meander.

As for NWM being blown up on the secondary market in 3 months. I disagree with that too. If it were to happen that soon, it would only be because the entire modern market collapsed, or the second leg of the world economic collapse hit.

With the amount of speculative money swirling around, none of the series that have caught any heat are going to completely rollover and die. Obviously the NWM variants were selling for unsustainable values, but thats very different than the whole series bellying up on the secondary market.

I didn't want this to get lost, I couldn't have said it better.

  2. Now is a good time to go to your LCS and ask about preorders.

Ask if you order 25 copies of spawn if they'll give you a discount on the books AND give you the variant.

The BW variants are insane the first week they come out. INSANE.

Easy way to make $50 if you get a modest discount of 25%.

Preorder 2 months in advance and ask for bigger discount.

    JL

    Modest discount of 25%??

I want to go the shops where you think 25% is modest.

  3. I was thinking about this earlier today and maybe someone can help me.

What issue was The Walking Dead on when it got picked up by AMC? And what issue was it on when the show actually aired? I have only been reading comics casually since the end of last summer and I have only started speculating since the beginning of this month.

There is a lot of hype for issues that are less than a year old (Mind MGMT, Revival, Peter Panzerfaust, Thief of Thieves), but they still seem so new. And then you see The Sixth Gun that gets picked up in the late #20s.

    What's your hypothesis here?

  4. So, when and where did Great Pacific have hype?

2nd Tuesday of November from about 10am -11am. Once it was read the heat turned to a simmer. :roflmao:

The book came out on the coat tails of Saga and PP and it was a "oh this is the next big thing because Massive hasn't heated up yet."

I heard that numerous times off the boards and even Larrys weekly e-mail was suggesting to pick it up.

So somewhere in never never land and in Larry's.

    So never. Got ya

  5. Ellen Raskin's cover illustration for the first edition of A Wrinkle in Time was the inspiration for the Thought Bubble cover (also 'Inside World Corp' in #2).

Just about everything design related is a reference to something, and mid-century modern style informs much of the book's aesthetic (and that extends to the fashion and furniture Nate draws).

The #1 cover is based on Lawrence Raskin's jacket design for The Beatles: The Authorised Biography, for instance, and the Thomas Walker interview was patterned after the classic Playboy interview. I'm hoping to be able to include an appendix of all these easter eggs in the collections, including the many musical references within the -script.

Yeah, I was browsing through Abebooks and found this book.

Thanks fono for the in depth analysis!

  6. Somehow my Marvel Now Deadpool 1-3 sold for $20 shipped on eBay. They are still available in every store and on every website. 12 bids (8 different users), 11 watchers.

Nice. I passed on that series. I don't buy too much of Marvel nowadays.

I am not into Marvel at all. I tried Deadpool, but was shocked how terrible it is. Then I tried AvX and also thought it was terrible. Maybe I don't like super heroes. But I started reading Batman and it is incredible.

    Hawkeye?

The new Uncanny X-Force was entertaining as well.

I got a very tongue in cheek 90's vibe from it.

  7.

I could call any of the offers I received fair. I dont see the point here as leaving the thread up for any amount of time shouldnt affect you since you made no offer to me.

Deal has been done for quite some time yo... Sold within the first 10 minutes

    no questions asked

I've got no issue, like I said, nice sale. I just thought you didn't give the forum fair time.

    Phone call over.

  8. Honestly I didnt feel like dealing with people here trying to bump the price below reasonable because they want to send it in for reholder - x6 inquiries

Perhaps an advantage over a new user is seen :o

Even after the fees, Ive pulled considerably more than the offers I had received..

Better than nothing.... Especially since I have another on the way and the slanting kept me from sleeping at night

In defense of the boards that you claim to be a bunch of low ballers, you listed it for a total of 5 hours. During that time, most are at work, and you took it down before the highest traffic time.

    Congrats on the sale though.

The boards have all manner of people. There are tons of people that want stuff dirt cheap so they can immediately take it to ebay and sell it for more. There are also lots of people willing to pay UP for something they really want, if its hard to find.

For the most part, the majority of people are well informed, and just want a decent price, goldilocks style, "not to high, not to low, just right".

A misaligned book is almost certainly better to be sold on ebay, where people are less focused on 9.8s in general. For instance, I have a Saga 2 9.8 with a scratched case, and I wouldnt even bother to list it here, because I know it's not going to sell for "current saga 2 9.8 price minus reholdering fee".

He didnt "claim [the boards] to be a bunch of low ballers" as you claimed he said. He said he GOT a bunch of low ball offers, which isnt open to interpretation, he just stated the facts of what happened.

He had it up for 4 hours, that was my point. If he kept it up longer he may have received a fair offers.

You're cute though, keep following me.

  10. I think what he was trying to say is the reason the RRP will be worth more is because of the widespread appeal of the book and its reaching everyone. I can see NWM getting there as well but there is the matter of 850 print vs 500.
    Exactly...

We will see after NWM Vol. 1 is released / end of the year CBR and USA Today top comics rankings...

Saga RRP didn't have a surge until December / January (holiday gift exchanges or Ebay bucks according to Branget...).

Saga had that one sale for #1 for +$100, then all hell broke loose.

Seems like it's cooled off though, not falling, just cooling.

Edit: RRP is a different animal
