For the collector who can appreciate kooky 50's covers;)

Superboy #14, Great color, pages in the white range. There is a 1 “ tear at the top of the spine, and a tiny tear in the bottom of the front cover. Grade is VG- (3.5) bin $125

DC (Weisinger in particular) loved "Superboy's rival" covers. They also liked Peter Pan-like costumes. Here's a near-repeat in Adventure Comics a few years later, and there are more where that came from.

Superboy #16, Pages are OW, there is a stain on the left side (looks like some water was spilled, no damage to the inside pages, and a small chip on the lower right, some very light overall creasing and a large crease lower right , some writing. Grade is Gd/VG 3.0 (because of the stain ) $118

Did Superboy introduce Batman to this idea? Apparently so.
(I hope you don't  mind me annotating your sales thread.)
Can you stomp on these low-numbered Superboys to get the prices down to something I'm willing to pay?

So weird, it kept pasting the link, not the text, I had to do them separately, lol. That's the link to verify the page count;)

    Superboy #35

OK, color, some light overall creasing plus a sub crease (light), small crease back cover goes through 2 pages, the pages are white
    .

Book has one of those odd page set ups, the # of pages is correct, but there are 11 pages before the staple and 9 after. You can see where one of the pages on the right side was cut out and an extra fold was added at the centerfold. They had odd counts like this in the mid 40's on some DC books and a few others in 1954.

    Grade is Gd/VG (3.0) bin is $50  $42

Superboy #30 Scarce!4 on the census

Look  familiar? Check out Jimmy Olsen 53 from 1961.

Pages are cream, supple, with a stain on the right edge and a noticeable  piece off the back cover. Grade is Gd- (1.8) Because of the piece off the back, the front looks better. Bin is $75

First appearance (and probably the ONLY appearance, of Super Mouse, or Krypto Mouse. I'm not kidding, it's not listed anywhere, but here is proof;)

Jack if you are reading this, there are no chemicals or minerals UNLESS you consider Kryptonite a mineral;) but there is a goofy scientist;)

The book is supple, creased and missing an ad page. Grade is Fair Bin is $9.00

  8. Your Mary Jane and Sniffles is the one I'm used too, the earlier ones aren't as soft, Armstrong did the earlier ones, and Hubbard the later if I'm remembering correctly, I'm terrible at identifying artists.

Here they are from issue 1 before Mary Jane shared the billing.

    1-9.jpg

Spot-checking GCD, Armstrong at least from #4 to #40, Tony Strobl (#108) and Tony Pabian (#116) and maybe others in the middle. Hubbard may start at #124.

I don't think Sniffles ever did his chatterbox shtick (from the cartoons) in the Mary Jane strip.

    Jack

  9. I love the Mary Jane & Sniffles panels! Up until which issue was the strip a regular feature in Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies?

It made it just about to the end, the last issue with MJ and Sniffles was 238 from July 1961. After that they appeared in the Bug Bunny title.

Hah! You beat me to finding the answer to my own question! Probably from this cool website:

    Don Markstein's Toonopedia

    (thumbs u

Different site, same info. I had to look it up since 238 is one of the two issues I'm missing.

    That deserves a smileyface -- 2 issues?!?!?! :ohnoez:(worship):whee::takeit:

    JPS

  10. On the road but a moment to catch up.

    Wow! Nice #1.

I agree about MJ and Sniffles -- often the best feature in LT&MM. Sometimes the title is better than WDC&S. A little edgier, more manic, more diverse. Some Disney comics are just too staid, especially the later ones.

A few LT&MM scans to supplement yours. I don't remember whether I've posted them in this thread.

    Jack

Though they don't compare to Barks Ducks, Looney Tunes was still a fun run, and with Kelly showing up from time to time it is definitely worth looking at. Besides, I've always been a sucker for Mary Jane and Sniffles.
