Cool book! I have had this one for many years. It is Vault 37 with a different cover. I like the ED logo as opposed to the EC logo. The Mexican ECs don’t seem very easy to find.

Wow! Gorgeous copy!!! I think these are hard to find in general, and especially hard to find in high grade.

I'd love to contribute some of my favorite books to this thread.

When the Gaines File Copies first went on sale in 1990, I could really only afford one book. But there was no question as to which issue it would be:

This cover so perfectly captures the romance of discovering magic worlds ruled by beautiful and exotic alien princesses.

I find it very interesting that, thematically, the cover of Weird Science 14 is so similar to the previous issue (13).

It's as if, upon finishing the cover to 13, Wood started to imagine how he might have done the same "first contact" scenario differently. Like an afterthought. And so, without even waiting, he produced what he may have decided was a dreamier, more exotic, and feminine, version of the WS 13 scenario.

I've come to think of WS 13 and 14 as "Brother and Sister". I've had the Gaines WS 14 since 1990, but I didn't acquire a Gaines WS 13 until just last year. At last, Brother and Sister are together again.

I like how both covers have the commander waving an "imperious" index finger of confident command.

  3. Crime SuspenStories #22!

I understand that this book is red-hot right now. A comic that no true pre-Code horror collector can be withour! This copy is very low grade.

I rate it GD- 1.8. It is "beat but complete". The covers are split and detached and glued back on. I'm not sure what CGC would think of it.

It is all there, nothing is missing.

Is anyone interested at $245, shipped with insurance?

  4. Black Cat Mystery #33

    I grade it Good+.

Nice electrocution cover. A violent pre-Code Harvey comic with art from Bob Powell, Tom Hickey, Rudy Palais, and Vic Donahue. The story "Grave On the Green" is very gory.

Satisfaction guaranteed. $5 shipping within the continental US. FREE insurance. I'm happy to ship overseas, PM me for a shipping quote.

  5. Strange Fantasy #9

This is an unusual comic, it comes in three versions! One type has original Ajax/Farrell horror contents, others contained rebound Harvey interiors (not published by Ajax)... some had Boy's Ranch and some had the Black Cat. This is the Black Cat version (with really bad color registration).

    I grade it Fine+.

    White pages.

  6. Adventures Into Weird Worlds #3

This is another attractive mid-grade horror comic, I grade it Very Good/Fine.

Cover art by Russ Heath. The cover shows a scene from a story which actually appears in this issue! Off white pages.

  7. Adventures Into The Unknown #11.

This is a very nice comic! I grade it Very Fine-. There are sun shadows on the BC and inside covers are tanning, but pages are very supple -- nothing brittle!

$200, or PM your best offer.

  8. Here is a really tough pre-Code horror comic -- Horrific #3.

This is an attractive mid-grade copy, I grade it apparent Very Good. The staples have been replaced, the old staples were rusty and there is some rust migration visible. Otherwise this is a very nice copy with nice color, it lies flat, no writing, no tears, the centerfold is securely attached. Off white pages.

I searched years for this comic! I will need $625 to let it go....
