  1. OK. This thread is filled with you people extolling the virtues of Beachbum. Well, I am highly dissatisfied.

Some of you say what great packaging he has and that it is "bomb proof."

Well, I guess if it were some REGULAR bomb that fell on your comic.

But! What about a NUCLEAR BOMB? Huh? That's what I thought. I found the package I received in no way able to handle that particular (and crucial) aspect of delivery.

More importantly, though...what if my precious Zenescope comic fell into the hands of a machete-weilding chimpanzee? Beachbum's "exceptional" packaging would be no match for that either.

So, in summary, if you're looking for quality comics and exclusives at a reasonable price shipped in a timely manner and packaged to survive a regular bomb being dropped on it...well then I GUESS Beachbum is your man.

HOWEVER! If you want your comics to be able to make it to your doorstep even after passing through machete-weilding chimpanzee territory...then LOOK ELSEWHERE!

THEY ARE COMING FOR YOUR COMICS!!!

    AHH THEY HAVE GUNS TOO!!!

  2. As far as a bubble, the popularity of the zombie genre will keep The Walking Dead from suffering a similar fate as that of the Beanie Baby where there was just an absolute falling off of a cliff. (IE- a $5,000 beanie at one time now selling for $100 or less)

Yep, zombies are more popular than stuffed-animals and far less common.

    OK.

  3. I have enjoyed the series and think that it really hit its peak at issue 48. The first 48 issues were a great story arc and probably the best take on the zombie genre I have read. The television program has done the source work justice and is still something I look forward to every week when it is on.

For me, The Walking Dead has allowed for "comics" to reach a wider audience. I can't tell you the number of people who I have turned on to the comic after talking with them about the show. That's been really fun for me. Turning people on to the comics and expanding my circle of friends I can talk to about both the TV and comic series. Heck, I know three people put in for subscriptions at my LCS at my suggestion.

Will the "bubble burst." I don't think so. Could there be a gradual stabilization of prices? Perhaps. All I know is that I am going to enjoy the ride however long it lasts.

  5. There might be a tiny blip in interest, but not enough for a long term hold, unless it is a good book. Comic books by people who are media stars first (as opposed to comic book writers who later become media stars) have a horrible track record for both long term value and for being even passable reads. Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon are the only two who have been passable, and they both wrote scripts for a living as opposed to being actors or TV "personalities."

agree +1. i have some Mr T comics somewhere..

I remember being at WWChicago and seeing this huge line...at the end? Mr. T signing that comic. It was actually pretty cool seeing him in person.

  6. Four book submission dropped off at WWChicago with the Coupon.

    Just changed to "Graded".

My sub from 06/10/2013 has been listed as GRADED for two weeks now :frustrated:

  7. So I list a book, it sells. That thread is done.

So, I list another book in a new thread and it gets merged with the first thread? What's better is that the title of the thread is the book that already sold. I disagree with that ruling.

Is there something stopping you from editing the title of the first thread to include the other book?

The reason I only listed one book (the Saga #1) to begin with is because that was all I intended on selling. It sold immediately, and then the waterfall of congrats posts entered the thread. Any other book added to the thread would be lost behind all those. Bottom line is, I don't think I violated a rule since my first book was sold and that thread was closed before I started the new thread. I disagree with the ruling and think it was overzealous on the mod's part.

  8. Modern Non FT

    Submitted @ C2E2

    Received by CGC 5/1

I called on July 5th and was told they had been just graded and were awaiting encapsulation and QC and to expect my books shipping out in 2-3 weeks. I received them yesterday using standard UPS shipping, so they must have sent them out on Monday.

Happy I got my books so fast, but the grading was pretty harsh on a few of my 9.8 candidates. Oh well - I guess they can't all be 9.8...

  9. Modern (non FT)

    Received 4/29

    Verified 6/5

    Scheduled for Grading 6/25

    Graded 6/27

    QC 7/1

Shipped today. Very excited! Now if I can just avoid looking at the grades online and spoiling the surprise...

Nice. Mine were submitted at 4/24 at C2E2...still not arrived yet...this is a good sign, at least... :wishluck:
