    Thanks for looking.

  2. KUDOS to Jack_Anderson for a great book, fast shipping & the most secure packaging I've ever seen. hail.gif

Anyone remember the opening scene in Ace Ventura? That's about the size of the box my book came in...and unlike the contents of the box in the movie, there's no way my slab could have been damaged.

    Outstanding. 893applaud-thumb.gif

Glad to hear it finally arrived. I was considering putting the box inside another bigger box, but I figured enough was enough 27_laughing.gif

  3. I can't claim to have read near the number of comics some of you more 'seasoned' veterans can, but the first book that comes to mind is Spectacular Spider-Man #14

The art is unique. Every panel is hand painted. No inks, pencils, etc, all painted. The story was also something really different from what I had read before. A young man with cerebral palsy (i think) is confined to his wheelchair, with little to no control over his motor functions, and without the ability to speak. He basically sits in his room all day, but each evening his family rolls him out to the roof of their apartment building, so he can spend some time outside, watching the Brooklyn skyline. One evening Spider-Man and Morbius happen to be battling it out, and the fight arrives on this particular rooftop. All the guy can do is sit there and watch as these two duke it out. Spidey eventually wins and returns to the rooftop and sits with the guy, chatting it up for a bit (although the conversation is decidedly one-sided). Spidey then decides to let him in on a secret and reveal his identity by pulling off his mask and telling him his real name, mentioning how the two of them aren't that different. At the end his father (or older brother) comes out to get him and asks if he saw anything exciting, to which the guy lets out the best excited grunt he can under the circumstances.

Definitely not something I expected from a comic book and one of the few that will probably stay with me.

  4. Also, I'm not posting kudos anymore for sellers that don't post first, but Jack Anderson packed the books I bought from him so well, I felt the need to break my rules. I got the books for his minimum bids, and he packed them like they were $100 each. He took lots of effort to pack them, and also went through great expense to secure them. THANKS!!!

The way I see it, the one thing buyers fret over more than anything else is the safe arrival of their books. There's simply no reason not to do it right.

And of course, kudos to Jbone for quick payment and a smooth first 'bulk' sale for myself. thumbsup2.gif

  5. Another good week for my blossoming spidey collection. Still haven't graduated to the $150+ issues, but I'm picking up lots of runs in the meantime.

Just received a full run of Web of Spider-Man (1-129, Annuals 1-10) from eBayer mask_collector2001, all in vf to nm condition. good stuff.

Expecting a full run of Webspinners Tales of Spider-Man (1-18) in the next day or so from eBayer mutedemon.

Picked up a handful of higher issue ASMs from board member whet.

Also won this week's raffle over at MyParentsComics.com thumbsup2.gif , so I've got a Green Lantern #48 on its way.

  6. Not sure what you mean by indicates. Its there on the slab. =) But if you are asking what 'Stan Lee File Copy' means, well, it means the book was one of Stan Lee's personal copies. He kept and used them frequently as reference material, so its the rare book that is ever in high grade. The entire collection (I think) was sold by Heritage in two chunks in 2002 (or 2003). All the books were first CGCed before they were sold.

My thinking was, "If you pick up a raw comic, how would you possibly know if it was a Stan Lee file copy?", but your post answers my question, that they were all slabbed before they were sold for the first time. So I assume that means every Stan Lee file copy is in a slab, unless someone cracked it out, which wouldn't be too smart.

  7. After my first 7 days back in the game, I can say it's been a busy week.
