  1. cheetah - Some VERY SWEET EC's! Good luck with the set :wishluck:

Greg, as usual, some cool stuff! I'll have to do a little digging, but I may have a few nice HG copies of some of the portfolia books; Frazetta, Wrightson< I am 95% sure I have. I am pretty sure I have a few (at least 2) Adams' books.folio's as well.

    Great stuff guys/!

  2. HAD to post this!

So, this has been at a local LCS for about 3 years or so, gathering dust. i have tried to "acquire" it on several occasions, but couldn't reach a deal! I DO NOT pay retail!!! :sumo:

    ANYHOW...

So, I knew I had a few figures that he wanted and decided to give a trade a shot. Well, let's put it this way... the statue is no longer at the shop!

I think I fared rather nicely! I traded a few crappy Spawn figures (I have doubles :gossip:) and 4 12" Tortured Sous figures. In return, I got the sweetness which is pictured below!

I would make the same deal everyday of the week! I think he had a 'soft spot" in his heart for me as he knew I wanted it. He knows his prices and knew I was by far getting the better end of the deal! Aaron is a great guy, thanks bud!!! (if reading)

So, here's what I got... I LOVE it! The size is HUGE!!!

    :cloud9:

    Absolutely LOVE this cover!!!

Agreed. By far my favorite Bronze Age Avengers cover. The colors just really pop on high grade copies of this issue. :applause:

That they do! I have a very nice copy as wells. In fact, I believe I got it from Greggy!!! Imagine that!

You're right about the colors... they just "pop" and it really stands out. cool book!

  4. After going through some of the recent purchases made, I got to thinking of a book I'd read a while back. It's called; "The Ten-Cent Plague - The Great Comic Book Scare And How It Changed America" by David Hajdu.

For anyone who's into the whole pre-code thing, I'd suggest picking a copy up if haven't read already. (thumbs u You can usually score a copy for a steal on E-Bay... Well worth the read IMHO 2c

A snippet from an interview with the author. It's the opening paragraph explaining what the book is about:

"In a new book, The Ten-Cent Plague, author David Hajdu sheds light on what was once a much-maligned, and today remains a much-overlooked facet of cultural history: The unprecedented popularity of the horror and crime comic among the nation's post-war youth. He talks to us about the impetus behind his book and the way the anti-establishment sentiment expressed in early comics have helped shape today's society."

    Here's what it looks like:

    Great bed side book!

  5. While this is far from being the most expensive piece in my collection, it is a pretty cool piece! One that will be framed and proudly displayed in the comic room(s) :cloud9:

I am STILL unpacking from my looooong road trip and finding some cool stuff that was picked up along the way. I'll be posting some of the more "unique" stuff as I go through it all.

So, here's the OA to one of the ASM Daily Strips from the mid eighties. A few of us have been trying to figure out the artist behind the piece. The consensus is that it is a Romita piece... If anyone knows for sure, I'd happily accept the info (thumbs u

IMHO, a very unique piece... Not everyday Peter, or any other heroes for that fact, are seen with PORN!!!

I am sure Pete's 'ol Spidey Senses were, ahem, TINGLING!!! :kidaround:

  6. Okay, ONLY because someone asked!

Shock SuspenStories #14... I personally love and collect all things; Senate hearings related, SOTI books and Drug/Alcohol stories.

This particular Wally Wood book was used in the Senate Hearings which brought about the "Comics Code Authority". I am "guessing" it has to do with the KKK story in it (shrug)

That's all for tonight folks! Good night,

  7. Last one for tonight:

    A cool Flying Saucer cover/story (thumbs u

BTW - all these come from an OO (except the GSX) and have absolutely NO resto, or anything else done to them. Some, "may" receive a little TLC in the form of non-restorative measures. We'll see...

Thanks for the comments! Ciao for now

  8. JohnnyG a very nice GSX #1 what does it look like in hand? In the scan it looks like an 8.5/9.0 (thumbs u

Well, I guess the scan doesn't do it justice at all! In hand, it's a hands down 9.4 (so about 6-8 of us agree on) Good shot at a higher grade with a wee tender loving care :gossip:

    VERY pleased with the book.

    Thanks!

    ~JG (thumbs u

(thumbs u Would love to see it when it's graded. :applause:

    ME TOO!!! :wishluck:

As long as it's a 9.2 or higher, I'll be happy. Like I said, a group of us (some w/20+ years in biz) all agree that it's an easy 9.4 w/o a press! Plus, was offered $1k for it by a dealer who only deals in HG books... So, you KNOW he wouldn't offer unless he knew would do well... right? At least that's what IO believe and pretty sure I am spot on with this one.

Gotta have a bite and will post some GA goodness a little later if up to it.

    Again, thanks man!

    John (thumbs u

Was it Harley Yee who made the offer?

(shrug) Sorry bud, don't mean to be rude. But I don't think Walmart tells Target their business! Some people like to remain private and I respect their wishes (thumbs u

  11. Very cool stuff Johnny, really like that MARS Patrol. Glad to hear your feeling well.

    Thanks my man :hi:

Ya the MARS book is pretty cool... Not super HG, but a decent book. The back cover is a "pin-up" of the front. Bought it for a friend who collects the 'chute covers.

Ya, health has been good (touch wood!!!). I guess I caught the "family cold" that was going around at the house. Plus, big shows, handling money and all, easily get sick. Especially seeing as how I take immune suppressant drugs for my arthritis (shrug) BUT, I am glad it's just a lousy flu and not the heart issues that I've had to deal with over the last year! :wishluck:

    Again, thanks!

  12. Starting to scan the "haul" from the last 6 weeks in Toronto and Montreal :cloud9:

    Here's a very sweet (IMHO) GS X-Men #1

    GSX-Men1-3.jpg

Next up is what I believe to be a harder to find book in grade. A Star Spngled Comics #128... DARK COVER! :wishluck:

    StarSpangledComics128.jpg

Here's one I picked up for a friend here on the boards...

LOADS more to come! Just getting started unpacking. Had a great time with no health issues for the whole time... Typical; I go and get a pretty bad cold/flu the last couple days and am JUST getting over it!

  13. Just in (well Toronto) from Montreal. Not home, so no scans yet! However, thought these beauts might be appreciated here!

    GA-MTL2011.jpg

    More to follow...

:gossip: The ToT #15 is to DIE for! Love the cover. Sure 1000's of others do as well! Still need to post the haul from the T.O show and the 9.6 or better GSX#1! :wishluck:

  14. Just hung it this morning :)

    900.jpg

Ya, I guess you're right... It does look nice!

The pic doesn't do it justice! The art alone is 11x17? How big is the freaking frame???

Did you take the pic with the new bad boy Canon?

Looks nice! It'll look good in your room... Once you get off the WarCRACK and do something with it! :baiting:

  15. I'd like to thank Mitch for being a valued repeat customer. He's always been a very prompt payer and an all round good guy! Not only do I have a customer, I believe I've got a new friend as well!

    Thanks Mitch!

That folks, is the good stuff I got from ECCC. Well, good to me! Maybe not to others, but at least I am happy with them :cloud9: Some will sell after grading to cover some expenses, but a few will remain with me until next upgrade.

    Happy collecting!

  18. I also picked this little guy up.

As some may know, going through a lot of health CONCERNS and am a little frightened to find out results. However, no matter what they may be, I've gotta KEEP ON TRUCKIN'!!!

So this will be a little reminder of that! :headbang:
