Take this with a grain of salt since I do not have my books graded, when the book was graded the piece missing on the back cover/lower edge was taken into consideration, chances are you will not receive a higher grade, however, books are graded in their entirety and a piece missing (unless stated in black and white) is going to be up to the individual grader on how much of a grade reduction the book will take. CGC seems to change its grading standards on a regular basis, someone with more experience with todays CGC will have to chime in, maybe pieces missing is even mentioned in the new CGC Grading Guide. (shrug)

    Just an FYI...Pieces Missing

    VG/FN 5.0 - None allowed

VG 4.0 - As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable.

GD/VG 3.0 - A triangle from 1/4" to 1/2" can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" to 1/4" square is also acceptable.

GD 2.0 - The largest piece allowed missing from the front or back cover is usually a 1/2" triangle or a 1/4" square,

FR/GD 1.5 - Up to 1/10 of the back cover may be missing.

Good one, I had an 7.0 CGC blue label Detective comics #83, big corner piece front cover missing. But it still received an 7.0.

  2. Hi there. I have this Amazing Spider-man #3 in my collection. Qualified grade. Old Label. And to me it looks like this one never had an clean and I think also no press. It has very small chipping and overall very nice color.

But besides missing page 12 LoL, it is missing an little small piece on the back cover. See pictures.

Could an 6.0 or 7.0 have an little piece missing of the back cover? Is that allowed for an 6.0 or 7.0?

In other words, would this one benefit an press and clean for a grade bump? Or will it never become an higher grade because of the small piece missing?

  4. Hi guys,

    Today I received an graded X-men 12...

But it appears that there is some kinda light grayish residu inside the slab... I can definitely say its not on the comic book and not on the outside of the slab.

What can this be? Is it an common slabbing error?

  5. My intentions are truly making this an CGC label, so is it like voldemort? LoL. He who must not be named (Harry Potter ;) . You can't even name or show an other brand even if your purpose is to make the comic an CGC label?

And I did some research, cover cleaning yes, can't be undone, but a conserved grade can have cover cleaning right? So it could be unrestored to the point that only the cover is cleaned so that it could have an CGC conserved label?

  6. Hi guys, gals,

Im fairly new to collecting comics. So forgive me for my ignorance.

I wanted to know. Can somebody help with this? I have an TEC #37, Professional RESTORED. 6.5, graded by CBCS. I want to have it in CGC label. Is that a smart thing to do with this comic? Maybe undo restoration? Or just have an crossover restored grade?

This was done according the notes: Professional Restoration Includes: Small amount of color touch on cover,
pieces added to cover, cover reinforced, spine splits sealed, cover cleaned.

Probably stupid question, but can this be undone? All the way to the part that only the cover is cleaned is mentioned? Conservation label?

Or would it be smarter just to get an crossover to CGC?

+ funny thing is, it has an verified signature of Bob Kane on the 1st page. Was verified by Becket authentication services. Do you know if CGC is willing to make an photo of the signature so that they can send me the photo?

  7. Something I came across: Dont buy key issues on Ebay LoL....

Im from Europe so walking in a local comic store won't get my much wanted golden comics (Batman, some Silver Spider-man too).

So for foreign guys, ComicLink best thing to buy them there, I noticed in some parts of the year the auctions will get less attentions, seems like after the Hollidays most people have spend too much money and you can buy for better prices.

Other part that im looking now is Instagram. Following a couple of comic sellers that sell for good prices.
