Another Tales from the Crypt that I'll be cracking from the slab.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand the thought process that goes into removing a comic that is in a CGC case. They typically sell for a little more and any number of things can happen to cause damage or downgrade once removed. Is it meant to be read? If so you can buy, as anybody knows, a reprint for pennies on the dollar. Maybe you never plan to resell, but if you do you will fetch less money for it raw than graded. This topic has been rehashed at least a thousand times, but I never fail to be surprised when I see comments about "freeing" a slabbed book.

  2. As always, I am looking for a few EC books.  I am still looking for A Moon, A Girl Romance #12 and Modern Love # 7.  I'm actually looking for a lot more  (you can look at my complete EC run in the CGC sets list to see what is missing). But this is my focus right now. If you are looking for some stuff I happen to have the following I could trade: International Comics 3 CGC 5.0, Modern Love 4 CGC 5.0, Modern Love 8 CGC 3.0.

  3. Hi All-

I hope your year end is going well. This week Heritage is auctioning off my Santa/Frosty related issues. While overall my books have been going at a pretty good price there is always at least one issue a week that goes for less than what I paid. Last weeks the Francis issues were up for auction and given how scarce they are in high grade I'm surprised a few went as cheap as they did. Anyway, here is a link to this week's Santa/Frosty issues if you want to taje a look. These are very tough to find in high grade.

You can view  my entire consignment in auction #122250 at the following link: http://comics.ha.com/c/search.zx?saleNo=122250&collection=51&FC=0&type=friend-consignorpreview-notice

  4. You are all talking about Qualitycomix.  No reason to avoid names. I recently bought a few very scarce EC books from them and turns out the prices were not too far off what I would expectant at auction. There was one book I paid about 1800 that I thought was overvalued by as much as 2-300 dollars. But at the end of the day, I realized I had been looking for a nice copy for at least 10 years and hadn't seen one come up in all that time. So, I just bought it. He offered me 5% off, but that's really peanuts. They do have some incredibly good stuff. Not sure where they get it all. I think they sell books on consignment, would be my guess.

As expected  I was shut out in 4GEMS weekly auctions.  Honestly I do not know how I even won the one that I did

I was high at  the close of internet bidding on all 3 books I was missing.  In most cases already well over guide ( from last year)

Each book over doubled during the live bidding.

Congrats pn another great week Glen

Guess I will have to be satisfied  with my current hoard.  At least I can enjoy the time spent organizing them

I have probably upgraded  the Bugs as it is not on my upgrade.  OTOH  Drift has been on my upgrade list  since I first started  increasing the quality as well as quantity  of my collection.  That one  is still on the list.

I think  there are 3  of your current crop  that would be excellant additions  including the #2

LOL...that might make a good upgrade to any collection!

Here is another bunch  of recently recovered  images  from the Bucket.  Fixed the naming on about 150  images so far.  Finding many duplicate images.  SOme of them are of the books I have upgraded  along the way, but most are just dups

Wow, that Drift Fence is one of the hardest books in the entire run to find. The Bugs is easy to find in VG, but try to find a copy in Fine or better...almost impossible.

Incidentally, you may discover that the next Lucy (#559), in particular, is elusive in high-grade. In all my years of looking I could not figure out why. I can't remember who, might have been Gene Carpenter, eventually told me that the file copies (mostly sold by Heritage) had been at the bottom of a box somewhere and suffered moisture damage and/or some other type of damage. So, the genesis, or lack thereof, foiled the ability of many or any, to get a high-grade copy. I have/had a 7.5 which is tied for top census. I'll try and upload a picture. If a high-grade copy exists it's out there in a hidden collection bought off the newsstand rack, if it exists at all.

558 (Elmer Fudd) only has two graded copies with the top copy  at 8.0 and only two graded copies total. I wonder if that was stacked next to 559 on the bottom?

One of my earliest Four color trades from when I went to SDCC.  I got 47 Four Colors  including this one.  I must have traded A key book for them  As I am trying to recall  I am thinking it was my undercopy of B&B 28
